An imposing roar of a woman"s regal voice broke the casual banter, "HOW DARE YOU INSULT MY HOUSE AND ITS CITY!"Jack"s eyes darted over towards the form he had noticed watching earlier, for the first time he was trying excessively hard not to smile. His mouth twisting in all shapes and forms, even trying not to let an audible laugh escape his lips.
A woman in a purple and green gown came waltzing into the grand reception room, which was pretty much a throne room for an ancient King. She had long black hair and violently sharp green eyes.
"My dear, please d-don"t insult our guest!" Carmichael didn"t know how to hold his hands in front of himself as he tried pleading with his wife.
"Like h.e.l.l I won"t! He insulted this house! I will slander, I will burn and I will pillage his lands for insulting us!" She had one hand balled up in her dress while the other would be pointed at Jack.
Blankly the rest of the party was just watching as this was going down. They wanted to see how Jack would react to this. And it seemed rather favorably too, seeing as he was trying not to laugh in the woman"s face and for the first time he was actually almost smiling like a human being.
"Please my Love! Calm down or you"ll bring the Heavens down upon us!" Carmichael grasped his wife by the shoulders, lightly shaking her.
Laughing at her husband"s words, it was clear she was more a.s.sertive than the Lord himself. "Bring the heavens down upon us!? Ahaha! What is he a winged servant of the G.o.ds?"
Jack walked up and placed a hand on the Lord"s shoulder, was he was over a foot taller than the man. "All is well, Lord Carmichael."
The woman narrowed her eyes on the man who was touching her husband. No normal commoner could touch him, nor other lower cla.s.s n.o.bles. Who does he think he was? Well, he was Jack.
"Who is this man…?" The inner corner of her eye twitched, her jaw clenched shut, no longer laughing was this elegant beaut. "You didn"t bring home another suitor for our daughter have you!? I told you I will have none of this arranged marriage shenanigans!"
Carmichael frowned seeing the smile which was now blatantly across Jack"s face.
If he was to very well tell his wife that this man was an angel, would she believe him? Would Jack go along with it? Or would he be a s.a.d.i.s.tic p.r.i.c.k and pretend he was talking nonsense? Sweat was forming over his brow once again as it had done before.
"This is Jack," Carmichael didn"t use any form of t.i.tle, but instead used his name casually.
"Jack…?" The woman pursed her lips as she looked over the young man, who was much taller than both of them. "And who exactly is this Jack?"
"..." Carmichael"s head pitched down slightly, the Priest and the Squire standing in the background, just watching and waiting to see what was to transpire as well.
"Jack here is a ..."
The woman"s eyes squinted, her eyes like daggers or monstrous talons of a harpy, the intensity of the gaze alone was capable of cutting him off.
Jack narrowed his own sight on the woman for a few moments before c.o.c.king his head to the side. "Aren"t you intimidating, Lady Carmichael..." His tone wasn"t polite, but it wasn"t rude either.
That gaze of hers even turned towards Jack, but she felt as if it was just bouncing off of him. She blinked and her violent gaze went soft. "Oh? What"s this?"
Jack would place his spear into his inventory, causing it to vanish from view without breaking his gaze on the woman in front of them.
"Spatial magic?" The woman seemed to be misunderstanding his innate ability to store things as a talent with magic. Even though he definitely had talent with magic due to his cla.s.s choices. "You brought home a tutor for our daughter?"
"Does everything have to be about our Daughter?" Lord Carmichael feigned a groan.

"You… Didn"t bring him home for Ca.s.sandra?"
"No… I invited him here because I..." He cleared the airways of his throat, "Because I offended him."
"Offended him…?" Oddly enough Lady Carmichael seemed to stiffen up, wondering how on earth her husband could care if they offended a mere warrior. Her eyes shifted over the tall man once more.
Jack was handsome, unnaturally attractive, alluring even. He had this pull about him that made people either run at him full strength or to follow and serve after him.
The Priest would walk over and bow his head to the two n.o.bles.
"Brother Tonic?" The Lady would ask as she looked over the man, who seemed all too amused at the situation as well. Why was the clergy smiling at this?
"This being that your husband has brought home, is no mere man, My Lady." Tonic humbly informed the woman as he gestured towards Jack. "This is a divine being, who can read the ancient scriptures."
"A… Divine being?" The Lady looked over Jack for a moment before looking to the Priest, only to see six wings sprout from Jack"s back without damaging his attire or armor, from the corner of her eye.
Immediately she jumped back, fell to her knees and kowtowed with her forehead pressing to the ground. "My sincerest apologies!" She seemed to be fearful of the G.o.ds, or at least those who resemble the angels that served them. "I wish not to anger the G.o.ds!"
Jack suppressed his laughter, going back to his forever stoic expression. "Delightful," his eyes shifted towards the eastern entrance to the room. The door was open, but there was no one standing there.
No, there was definitely someone standing there. Jack could see the light bending around a pet.i.te feminine shape. "That"s why you asked if I was a tutor for your daughter?"
"Hm?" The Lord turned his head to look at the open door and raised a brow. "You see my daughter somewhere?" Carmichael asked as he stared, straining his eyes as he did so.
"She"s using magic to bend light around herself to conceal herself from the sight of others… But if you look close enough, you"ll see a mirroring effect." Jack would raise a hand slightly, using a simple spell known as『Dispel Magic』, and the moment that he cast this, a young teenager appeared.
The young lady was wearing a short satin blue nightgown, reddish copper and green two toned colored eyes and waist long raven black hair that had natural purplish highlights.
She was quite the pale beauty with youthful charm and vigor.
"H-how did you use magic without a chant!?" The girl would shout pointing at him, her entire being bouncing as if her body was elevated by her voice.
She was a couple inches taller than the elves in his company.
"It"s called silent magic..." Jack responded with a snicker of his own, shaking his head slightly. "I don"t believe it"s something you can comprehend just yet."
"There"s no such thing!" The girl continued to point at him as she stormed into the reception hall. "Tell me how you did it!" Now that she was standing only a foot away from him, her finger was still pointed up towards his face.
Peering up from the ground, the wife would jump to her feet, pulling her daughter back from the angelic being with wings. It seemed her daughter either didn"t share the same fearfulness of the G.o.ds or perhaps she was ignorant of scripture?
"Mom! What"s wrong with you! Those wings are clearly fake! An illusion!"
That answered the question, she didn"t believe what was right in front of her face. A skeptic? Or was she cynical of his motives even though he was invited here?
Jack would place a hand around the young girl"s, prying her from her mother"s arms. Her eyes widened as she suddenly found herself floating several feet up in the air, dangling from his hand.
They were flying in the room, his wings at their full span, giving strong slow flaps as to control his alt.i.tude. "Lucky this place has such a high ceiling," Jack commented as he looked down.
The girl followed his gaze and stared down at those below. Seven stories up, if he dropped her, she was as good as dead. She could feel the pushing of the air from his wings.
"Do you believe now?" Jack asked as his fingers seemed to caress her neck, readying to let go.
Letting her arms and legs dangle at her sides, she glared at him as if trying to pick apart every breath he took with a fine comb. Yet that expression of skepticism slowly turned into awe. Finally seeing what she had done, so similarly to her mother just prior to her arrival, panic nearly ensued.
"You are… You"re really..."
"Yes," Jack shook his head as he would now only have two fingers holding her by the neck, resting under the jaw.
In a split second, they reappeared on the ground, having teleported. Yet he still held her a few inches from the ground, she hardly squirmed. "I am," he"d finish.
He then dropped her onto her rear before the feet of her parents.
