Shaman’s Awakening

Chapter 11     The Governor’s Wife

Chapter 11     The Governor’s Wife

Jiang Han was a little surprise, the woman appeared to be quite lively and did not look like she was sick at all, unless?

Jiang Han employed all the knowledge in his grasp together with his special eyesight that he obtain from the shaman’s legacy to carefully reexamine the woman. He discovered that the woman’s body was a little plump, her delicate foot extended out of the sheets to reveal a couple of eye-catching blisters, and her eyes were drooping quite badly.

Wasn’t these symptoms an indication of diabetes?

“Auntie, your eyes, is this because of diabetes?” Jiang Han delicately ask while steadying the gla.s.s of water, before carefully pa.s.sing it to the woman.

The woman was shocked and couldn’t help but be a little curious, was the top hospital this amazing, that even a janitor could easily diagnose her condition. She also notice that oddly without any particular reason, the young man gave her a rather good impression.

The woman told Jiang Han that her diabetes flared up last night. This time around there was an unexpected medical complication that almost led to a complete loss of vision. Even now her condition hadn’t really improved much.

Jiang Han listened and with a simple diagnosis he had a rough idea of the situation. For an elderly person like this woman, if they were afflicted with diabetes then even their everyday life would be difficult. It was essentially difficult to avoid having Insomnia or even Neurasthenia(1).

Jiang Han had previously glimpsed at the specific treatment in his mind, unfortunately he has yet to fully comprehend the method. However, a temporary solution was readily available, “Auntie, I have experience with a specialised traditional Chinese ma.s.sage. If you are comfortable with it, I can give it a try, it should be able to help with your insomnia.”

“At my age, I don’t have much to look forward to anymore. Go ahead and try it out.” The woman looked at Jiang Han and agreed. With her elderly age, it was unlikely that this young man would take advantage of her, furthermore, no one ever dared to mess with her before.

The woman sat up straight and then Jiang Han operated the minute amount of spiritual power in his body to supplement the traditional Chinese medicine technique to begin his ma.s.sage from her head. A trace of spiritual power pa.s.s through Jiang Han’s fingertips into her hairline and work its way down Baihui (One Hundred Meetings), Tianzhu (Celestial Pillar) and Fengchi (Wind Pool) and then into both sides of Tinggong (Palace of Hearing), from the Greater Yang meridians into Jingming (Bright Eyes), Zanzhu (Gathered Bamboos) and finally into Sizhukong (Silken Bamboo Hollow) to complete the entire cycle. Little by little the ma.s.sage began to exhibit its effectiveness under his gentle hands. The woman began to feel calm and serene and gradually drowsiness overtook her.

It didn’t take long for Jiang Han to finish his ma.s.sage, by then the woman was already in a deep slumber. He tuck her in bed and then silently left the room.

When the woman’s caretaker returned, she was pleasantly surprise to find her insomniac plagued mistress sound asleep. Afraid of making any noise, she soundlessly closed the door without feeling the least bit suspicious.

The diabetic woman was called Jiang Peiqi and she was the Governor’s wife. Coincidentally, she was not just a pretty face, she was also the provincial CPPCC (Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference) vice chairman, who was responsible for the education and health systems. It’s therefore unsurprising that she had a level of composure and confidence about her.

The very next morning, Jiang Peiqi woke up from a well-rested sleep. It has been a very long time since she had felt so spirited and vivacious. She lightly stretch her body and was reminded of yesterday’s incident. That’s right, it was that young janitor that gave her a ma.s.sage, which she figured was a long shot but was in the end wonderfully effective.

She immediately instructed her men to investigate, but her vision was impaired and could not describe what Jiang Han looked like. All she knew was that the janitor was a young man.

This information was essentially enough, and this was because the hospital’s janitor were generally middle-age woman, there were very few young man. It wasn’t difficult at all to find this young man, after all, she was the Governor’s wife.

Before long, she had her answer. She found out that Jiang Han was a resident doctor at the emergency department’s surgical division, and he took on the janitorial position to earn a living. Jiang Peiqi found this to be rather unexpected, that this young man with such unG.o.dly ma.s.sage techniques would be lacking financially.

She, however, did not have much to say on the matter, after all everyone had their own way of living. However, Jiang Han’s technique was to her akin to delivering charcoal in winter. She had someone send word to the hospital’s dean to allow Jiang Han to give her a ma.s.sage every night if possible and furthermore he would be rewarded for his efforts.

When Jiang Han returned to the dormitory after work, he started to focus on all diabetic related information including treatment methods. In reality, there are methods of treatment for diabetes, but it was only theoretical and was actually unusable in practice. However, within the shaman’s legacy, it was entirely possible to turn theory into reality.

Overjoyed at this turn of events, if it was really possible to cure diabetes then it would be a huge milestone in medical history. For Jiang Han who studied medicine, it was naturally an aspiration of his to one day conquer all these incurable diseases.

“Jiang Han, you’re really quite impressive. We originally thought you were well-connected, who knew that it was an understatement, you are even acquainted with the Governor’s wife.” In the department that day, Liu Xing patted Jiang Han on his back and spoke in a peculiar manner.

“Huh? What Governor’s wife?” Jiang Han naturally didn’t know Jiang Peiqi’s ident.i.ty and it piqued his curiosity at this moment.

“Fine, keep on pretending. I want to see how much more secrets you’ve hidden.” Liu Xing saw that Jiang Han’s expression was seemingly genuine, pointed his finger at Jiang Han, then turned around and walked away with a helpless look on his face.

“That was weird.” Jiang Han muttered as he arranged the doc.u.ments in his hands.

“Jiang Han, from now on you no longer need to do any janitorial work. Instead, you are to give Chairman Jiang in inpatient ward no.23 patient room 001, a ma.s.sage every day.  You will be well compensated for this.” Tao Lei said in a soft yell to the very puzzled Jiang Han, and then subsequently, “You brat, you did not tell us that you are acquainted with Chairman Jiang. If we were any more sceptical, we would have thought that you were looking down on us.”

Jiang Han could only bitterly smiled, apologise and admitted that he had been careless in this matter before leaving the room. According to Liu Xing and Lei Tao, he was fairly certain that the Governor’s wife that Liu Xing mentioned was the woman from the night before.
