Chapter 20 Qi Refining is Body Refining
Jiang Han obviously didn’t understood the old Taoist, “Could it be a cultivator requires external a.s.sistance to reach the Qi Refining stage?”
“Humph, ordinary cultivation methods naturally wouldn’t require any, however a shaman’s path is unique. Without external a.s.sistance, forget about a breakthrough, you might even have to worry about your own life if you went about it on your own.” The old Taoist said fervently, he wasn’t joking around.
Jiang Han was alarmed to hear that there was this sort of danger involve. If he hadn’t coincidentally decided to send Su Yuxin home today and if he hadn’t coincidentally got off the cab at this spot, he didn’t know when he would ever return to this location.
The old Taoist had also clearly stated that he was waiting for Jiang Han here all this time, that is to say, if Jiang Han did not stop by then the old Taoist would probably never take the initiative to look for him. He did not understand the significance of this before, but now that he had stepped into this world of cultivation, he felt different about it.
This was considered a type of fate, and fate could not be forced or else there would be no result. The old Taoist wasn’t an ordinary person, therefore there must be a reasonable explanation for his actions and words, but it was just beyond Jiang Han’s current scope of understanding.
“Senior, then what should I do?” Jiang Han humbly asked.
“It’s current not the right time, so you’re free to do as you like. However, there is a principle you need to understand, Qi Refining is Body Refining. On the surface it might not seem related, but in essence it is closely connected. I can’t say much else, those rules and regulations are pretty troublesome.” The old Taoist finally had a serious expression on his face for once.
“Qi Refining is Body Refining.” Jiang Han softly muttered. He was currently still in the stage of Qi Absorption and has yet to even touch the cultivation method for Qi Refining, much less understand any insights on the matter.
“A Shaman’s cultivation requires the Wu Spiritual Root, and this root is evidently different from the ordinary Five Element Spiritual Root. This was why even though it’s still a cultivation method, there are plenty of differences with the Shaman’s version. As for what these ingenious differences are, you will naturally come to know about it if you are fortunate enough to obtain the full and complete legacy.” The old Taoist said as he picked up the white banner on the side.
“Senior, would one really be able to ascend into an Immortal when this cultivation method is cultivated to its limit?” Jiang Han didn’t know what to say, after all he only recently had his first glimpse into the world of cultivation. There were still a lot of things that he did not understand, and he had idea what the old Taoist meant when he talked about the differences between cultivation methods. However, the subject of immortality was a curiosity that he had to scratch, it was something that had been puzzling him for a while.
“I’m standing right in front of you, what do you think is real and what isn’t?” The old Taoist did not answer straightforwardly and he smiled at Jiang Han as if he was being entertained.
Jiang Han’s expression was full of doubt, the old Taoist’s answer was absolutely useless and only served to make him even more confuse. What did he meant, was the old Taoist an Immortal or was he something else. Jiang Han didn’t understand and he had further questions for the old Taoist.
“You brat. You need to know that Heaven’s secrets cannot be leaked. Even if I was a Heaven Defying Martial G.o.d, I still wouldn’t be able to say much. Annoying, how annoying, this is why you shouldn’t ask anymore. You will naturally come to know about it at the right time, or you can just continue guessing for fun.” The old Taoist had the ability to read people’s hearts and so he didn’t wait for Jiang Han to open his mouth and quickly interjected.
Jiang Han lowered his head and pondered for a while, He realised that he no longer had any questions to ask. It was in a way similar to a scientific study. Similarly, if he were to consult an expert on the solution for a difficult problem, he who hasn’t even grasp the basic knowledge well enough wouldn’t be able to understand the answer. When his understanding on subject was inadequate, the best thing to do was to steadily master the basic’s first.
When Jiang Han raised his head to look up, he found that the old Taoist had disappeared just like the last time. Jiang Han did not even bother to look for him, if the other party did not want to be found, then looking for the person would just be futile work.
The time was still early and Jiang Han wasn’t in a hurry to return home and he instead opt to take a slow stroll. There were currently very little pedestrians around right now and there were bright and colourful lights flickering about with the streets littered with excessive drinking and debauchery. During the day, the city was filled with the sounds of people hustling and bustling about, while at night it was full with the sounds of people drinking, singing and shouting.
Jiang Han walked alone on his route back home and his wandering thoughts were related to Su Yuxin. She was an intelligent and resourceful little junior sister and Jiang Han didn’t quite understand what feelings he had for her. Did he liked her, en, he probably did, but he wasn’t sure how much he actually liked her, could it be that sort of like?
Jiang Han had no way to determine right now. He shook his head and muttered to himself, questioning what he was thinking. He was sure that Su Yuxin only took him for a senior which she had a good impression of and even though he hadn’t asked, Jiang Han already had a pretty good idea about her ident.i.ty. Her family must be pretty wealthy and influential, and he figured that it would be best if he got rid of any sort of inappropriate notion as soon as possible.
With his head in a mess, Jiang Han didn’t even know where his thoughts ended up in the end. Without him realising it, he had come a long way even though he was alone in the city. However, Jiang Han now no longer felt that life was tough. He now had good colleagues, great friends and a wonderful job. Everything was developing towards a beautiful direction.
The very next day, Su Yuxin left her house early in the morning. In accordance with her agreement with her father, she had to get to the previously agreed location today. If it wasn’t for the date with Jiang Han, she would have gone together with her parents the day before.
The placed she was headed for, was the holy grail of vacations. However, not just anyone could come for a visit, not withstanding how expensive this place was, it was only open to a selected few. If one did not have a satisfactory status then one could not enter no matter how wealthy they may be.
This sort of place was naturally different from those public spots where by if you wanted to take a selfie, it would unintentionally end up like a group photo.
Yesterday made her quite happy. First and foremost, there was Jiang Han’s absolutely astounding claw machine toy catching technique, and then later because of the incident at the clothing store, she became a little disappointed and her mood turned a little sour. However, later at the commercial plaza when she witness Jiang Han’s actions, any lingering bitterness was resolved in her heart and subsequently his image in her heart grew substantially.
On the car ride, Su Yuxin remembered what her father said previously and couldn’t help but blush. Su Yuxin was different from Jiang Han in that she was clear about her own feelings and that she had quite a favourable impression of him, nevertheless it wasn’t quite at the level that you could call it love.
Su Yuxin’s father was a very busy man, so much so that it was rare for him to be home for dinner. In addition to that, her university wasn’t in the city so she would only come home occasionally on the weekends. Other than that, she would have to wait for school breaks to come home, and therefore the time she had to spend with her parents were severely limited.
This time around, it was a rare opportunity that her father had a short time off work and so she agreed to spend the whole golden week with her parents. Even though she had lost a day’s worth of time with her parents because of the matter with Jiang Han, she felt that it was not that big of a deal. This proved that Jiang Han’s position in her heart wasn’t low.
The location of the retreat wasn’t too far away from her home, it was not more than a 100 km (62 miles for my American friends) away from the city. Her ride was a comfortable luxury MPV, and currently the song (1) was playing in the back. This song was the work of the super song king and Su Yuxin was a crazy fan of his. This song wasn’t the current hottest song but Su Yuxin thought the song was tasteful and she hadn’t gotten bored of it even after listening to it numerous times. This super song king could make people all around the world go crazy for him, and one of the reasons was probably because no matter how you were feeling, there would be a song of his that you could resonate with.
