Two hearts running in the night. One was darker than the night and the other as fair as the moon. Indeed, "The moon shines bright. In such a night as this. When the sweet wind did gently kiss the trees and they did make no noise, in such a night." (1) Cally was in love with the night and her knight. She couldn"t help but think of songs and poems and they ran with the night.

Running along the beach were they may and running inland through the trees at other times. Avoiding civilization and prying eyes they ran the night away. Marcus finally turned the pair back towards Clan Home before morning light. They stopped and rested on the cliff overlooking the bay where Olen had sailed the last time to meet his morning star.

Exhilarated to an extent she couldn"t remember the last time she had been this happy. Lying side by side she rested her head against his chest and listened to his heart beating. Marcus turned and looked at the white wolf by his side. He knew she was happy. He could feel it in his soul. She matched him perfectly in their run. They ran in unison, in tandem, a perfect hunting pair if they were actually after prey.

They looked to the East and watched the sun come up over the trees, slowly filling the bay with light. Marcus nudged Cally to rise to her feet and make their way back to Guild Hall and their more human selves. He had to walk behind her and push and nip and growl at her because a certain little lady didn"t want the night to end. Limping didn"t move him, collapsing and panting heavily didn"t faze him, whining didn"t win him so she collapsed one last time and buried her head in her paws. Peeking at him after a moment she realized he was leaving her behind. So she quickly got up and chased after.

Entering Guild Hall it was still very early. They entered Marcus" rooms so he could change. Cally opted to stay as she was. He had a quick shower and for today wore a black t-shirt and and blue jeans. It was a departure from his normal business attire. "Shall I make breakfast or do you want to go to the chow hall?"

Cally was already trotting to the door. "Okay chow hall it is." Opening the door Cally led the way. Entering the cafeteria which was already filling with people looking for their breakfast, most stopped and stared. Werewolves by and large made up the population at Clan Home but not many went as wolves when it wasn"t a full moon. Fewer still were seen during the day and certainly few if any were white.

Cally found a kids table and sat. She placed her right front leg on the small table and smiled a wolfish smile at Marcus. "What do you want to eat?" She c.o.c.ked her head to the side considering, then a "MMMEEE" sound came out of her muzzle followed by a tinkling sound as she tapped a metal table leg. "Meat?" She nodded happily with her tongue hanging out.

Marcus came back with a bowl of milk and a platter of bacon, sausage and ham. Placing it on the kids table he smiled and said "Enjoy." Returning, he sat nearby at a regular table. She pouted at him but he said simply, "I am not going to be uncomfortable so you can feel cute." He proceeded to eat his omelette. "Ha! He thinks I"m cute!" She scarfed down her breakfast and lapped up her milk. He took a napkin and wiped her muzzle. "You had a milk mustache." She nuzzled him in thanks and headed towards the door. Stopping she looked back at him puzzled, "Milk mustache? How could he tell?" He was smirking and eating his toast. She shook her head,"fine he got me."
