Mr. Martin Morton was trying to make all his friends and colleagues call him M&M. He changed all his social media accounts and was also very happy to see even more contact requests. He was thrilled but there was something that was bothering him, he had to think and ponder for a while before it dawned on him. Miss Cally Wotan seemed to know everything about the ship Esmeralda and the treasure of Santa Irelia. She seemed to know everything about the decades after Marta Wotan arrived in the Colonies and she usually used phrases and expressions like "I" and "We". She really but herself in first person when discussing the doc.u.ments and treasures.Deciding to ask Sarah, since he believed she would know more than Gladys because she lived at Clan Home, he hunted her up in her office. "Sarah, can I ask you something?" "Sure." "It"s about Cally Wotan." Sarah looked up from her paperwork, "Oh?"
"Why does Miss Wotan refer to herself in the first person when talking about the treasure of Santa Irelia? She said things like " We discussed the gold several times. We also talked to others about the gold." How does she know so much? And why do all the owners appear to be female that retain the name Wotan?"
Leaning back in her chair, Sarah smiled, "I"ll start with the last question because it helps answer the other questions. The Wotan Clan is matriarchal. Cally is a direct line heir to the original Queen Joanna through the female side. If you can get her talking you would learn that Cally is a story teller. As a story teller of the Wotan clan she has learned at the knees of all the women in her family all her family history by way of word of mouth. She can tell you the history of the Wotan clan without deviation time and time again. This is the way of a master story teller. Also you must remember she is the head of the Wotan clan. When she says "we", she is referring to all the other Wotan clan heads and herself. Does that answer your questions?"
Mr. M&M was nodding his head. It made sense. "I have never run across a European matriarchal family. But this is pretty awesome. Um, changing the subject, we should be done by the end of the week and out of your hair." Sarah as calm as ever reached for her coffee cup, "You and your colleagues have been perfect guests. No bother at all."
As M&M was heading back to the research labs that were set up for he and his colleagues; trouble was arriving in the way of Jaime Antunez, the CFO of Wotan International along with Thomas Howell IV, CEO of Wotan International. They had arrived at the gates to Clan Home. Jaime was a werewolf. He had a deeper understanding of Wotan International and Clan Home than his human "boss" could ever hope to have. Thomas Howell IV came from old money and a prestigious family. However over the years with the financial markets up turns and crashes his family no longer had the resources they once did. Thomas could not run his own company and was employed by someone else. A bitter pill indeed but at least Wotan International was one of the richest and oldest companies in the world. Since Wotan focused on real estate their money had been increases steadily over the decades.
The guard called Cally to inform her of her guests. She was just finishing a bowl of fruit out on her balcony. Planning to laze around all day, this was something to liven up her day. She was planning on bikini ware for most of the day but, ah well. "Warren, tell Jaime to head over to the visiting VIP cottage nearest Guild Hall. I think it"s empty at the moment. They can get settled in and I"ll head over in an hour or so to set up our schedule of talks." Pausing for a moment, Cally was trying to remember the CEO"s information. "Tell Jaime I appreciate his unexpected guest."
Warren relayed the info to Jaime Antunez the Chief Financial Officer of Wotan International. Jaime could do nothing but sigh. It wasn"t like he invited the CEO but when he informed Thomas he would be visiting Clan Home and the new Chairperson of the Board; he invited himself! Thomas Howell the 4th, mustn"t forget the 4th, also wanted to surprise the new Chairperson. Believing her to be young and inexperienced, he thought he would be able to gauge her abilities and possibly push her to the point she would just leave everything to the more experienced Ivy League graduate with the impressive family background.
