Carah felt drained of emotion after the confrontation with Zander. When she talked to Lexie this time with more care, compa.s.sion and understanding, at least she repaired their relationship by telling her everything except the hurtful things she experience when she was thrown out if their house. despite of all the things that happened she does not want her to bear grudges to her father"s side of the family. She decided to work at home the next day to focus on the next hearing for Joshua"s case.
A knock on the he door sounded.
"Come in."
"Carah, Zander is here."
"Send him in Mom." Oh what now? What does he want . she thought while she ma.s.sage her temple as in to relieve a headache. In this is state he found her when he entered the room.
"h.e.l.lo Carah... I"
"What do you want Zander?" she cut him short but she is more calm.
"I want to discuss about the visitation arrangement."
"You didn"t bring your lawyer?" she said.
"I don"t need another person to discuss things pertaining my rights to my daughter." he was very calm.
"Very well Zander."
So they discuss the visitation arrangement. It was not smooth sailing but they both agreed to meet midway for the sake of Lexie.
"OK Zander you cannot take her today since it is a Friday. You can have her every other week Sat.u.r.day and Sunday. but you can visit her weekdays provided it won"t interfere with her studies. and with my approval." she said a.s.sertively.
"Do we have to follow every little detail of what we agreed?" he sound irritated.
"Don"t start now Zander, we agreed that means we have to follow. If you have complaints then it"s much better we forget about it." she retaliated, so Zander decided to lay low, unless they will end up just like yesterday.
"Can I wait for her today, and comeback tomorrow to fetch her?"
She also hold back avoiding confrontation "Sure, in the meantime I"ll have this agreement printed and notarized after we both attach our signature we will both have a copy." He just smiled and asked. " Are you always this formal?"
"No, but I prefer it to be printed in black and white, to avoid confusion. So that we will both know our limits and boundaries, to avoid misunderstanding and there will be no claiming without proofs." She was. .h.i.tting him with her words. he is aware of this but he kept silent for a while.
"Nice study," he said to dispel the silence.
"Thanks."
They went out of the study room to wait for Lexie. "Mom you didn"t fetch Lexie?" she commented when she saw her mother, arranging the potted indoor plant in the corner of the room.
"No dear, Andre volunteered since he"s near the school so he decided to Wait for her."
"Who is Andre?" he was suppose to question the relationship of Andre in their life, but they both misunderstood and look at him in confusion. Then there was a knock on the door.
Lexie came bouncing in the room when it was open by Carlota. She had a happy expression on her face seeing her father.
"Yehey!!! You came!!! you kept your promise. Yaaay!" she was so happy that not a trace of what happened the other day was visible on her.
"Zander this is Andre you must have forgotten I introduced you already at the school play of Lexie."
"Ahh... yes how could I forget." he tried to ride on the situation but got another insult from Carah.
"You must have internalize the "I have amnesia" thing that you believed in it yourself." she said in a low voice only heard by Zander.
He only smiled bitterly, and Carah hold her tongue, she felt guilty on always pounding on him, seeing his reaction. She felt a sudden pinch on her heart seeing him like this.
"Mama can I show him my room?" Carah nodded.
"Come on Dada let"s go! I"ll show my room." They all look at the two retreating while Lexie pulled her father to her room.
"So he is Lexie"s father?" Andre broke the silence, sounded sad. And Carah just stared at him unable to fathom his reaction.
"So this is where the calls and the gifts should end as she has already her real father to do that."
"What?" both mother and daughter gave the same reaction.
"Andre! You?... Oh my goodness!!!" Carah was in disbelief.
