Chapter 590: A Great Misunderstanding
The small group of people sat cross-legged around the bonfire and cultivated. All of a sudden, they opened their eyes at the same time. A small thing fell from the tree above Ling Chuxi, right into her waiting hands.
The little creature was only slightly bigger than a squirrel. Its body was covered in soft fur that gleamed a fiery red in the light, and it had large black eyes. It was so cute that even Lin Cangbo and the others were tempted to play with it, but they resisted the urge considering their positions.
Ling Chuxi was pinching the little creature with one hand and caressing its fine fur with the other. Her hands wandered around to pinch and stroke the little fellow, her expression delighted.
“She indeed still has the heart of a child,” Lin Cangbo said with a kind smile, and the others also smiled knowingly as they watched her. Although Ling Chuxi’s cultivation was immensely strong, she was still a young girl, so a little childishness was inevitable.
The men looked at Ling Chuxi with a gentleness they reserved for the juniors of their own clans.
“It’s a pity it doesn’t have much meat on it, otherwise I could have roasted it to eat,” Ling Chuxi said mournfully, pinching it with a melancholy expression.
The kind expressions on the guardians’ faces instantly disappeared.
‘She had actually been thinking about eating it! How could she even think of eating such a cute thing? Don’t look at it with such a gentle gaze when you have other motives!’
“I take back what I said earlier,” Lin Cangbo muttered.
“Chirp… Chirp…” The little creature suddenly made noise, waving its tiny claws in objection as if it understood Ling Chuxi’s words.
“What are you calling out for? It’s not like I said I would eat you right away. There’s no point of me chewing on your bones with the little meat you have anyway. Hmm, it seems there’s some meat here though.” Ling Chuxi continued to search for parts with meat, pinching the little creature’s rump speculatively.
Its entire body stiffened, its eyes growing wide.
“So you know how to be shy? Heh, this is too interesting. Hey, take a look, it knows how to be shy!” Ling Chuxi exclaimed, pinching the little fellow’s b.u.t.t a couple more times.
The little critter’s entire body was tense, and it dared not move at all. It had ducked its head so low it was practically buried in its stomach.
The others watched the scence before them silently. Such a pitiful creature to have fallen right into her hands. Before being roasted, it had to endure such a merciless violation.
“Quit playing with it! Roast it to eat, at least there’s some meat on it,” Mo Kongyuan barked while swallowing his saliva.
Lin Cangbo and the rest looked away wearily. Was he really one of their renowned six great guardians? He truly was a foodie to be able to take action against such a cute little thing!
“Eh? It seems to be injured.” Ling Chuxi checked the little creature out of habit and noticed it had internal injuries.
It was such a small thing that could be killed with just a little strength, yet it actually had an internal injury. Ling Chuxi did not understand but was too lazy to be bothered. She casually took out a pill and stuffed it into its mouth.
The pill melted in the little fellow’s mouth before it could resist, and the creature was stunned. A surge of heat quickly flowed through its entire body and it calmed down, looking docile and sated.
“It’s going to be eaten anyway, why waste a pill?” Mo Kongyuan didn’t feel heartache over the pill, but he just felt it was a little wasteful.
The little fellow opened its eyes and squinted at Mo Kongyuan angrily.
