Chapter 712: Twins?
“Blood Beast Sect?” Ling Chuxi frowned and asked in confusion.
“That’s right, the Blood Beast Sect…” Wei Wuji was about to continue when he suddenly faltered. He gripped the sides of his head, his face clouded in agonizing pain.
“Are you alright?” Ling Chuxi asked in concern and approached Wei Wuji, who suddenly pushed her so hard that she stumbled back about a dozen steps before falling on her behind.
“What are you doing?” Ling Yichen demanded, his hand reaching for his sword as he moved to Ling Chuxi’s side protectively.
“Stand down!” Jiang Wuhen barked as he positioned himself between them.
Wei Wuji was still holding his head and groaning, his whole body drenched in sweat as if he had just come in from the rain. His expression made Ling Chuxi and the rest s.h.i.+ver. Jiang Wuhen, however, did not seem to find it odd and only waited patiently. After quite some time had pa.s.sed, Wei Wuji’s features slowly relaxed.
“I am sorry, I have acted inappropriately. Please forgive me if I have offended you in any way,” Wei Wuji’s expression was apologetic as he bowed deeply to them. In less than 15 minutes, it seemed like he turned back into the humble and polite Wei Wuji he was in the afternoon.
Ling Chuxi was totally stunned. Was he okay? Earlier, he had been chattering on about killing off some elders in his sect, but in the blink of an eye, he had become polite and soft-spoken again.
“As for the matter of the Blood Beast Sect, just ask Brother Feng. I cannot speak any more. I have fulfilled my promise to your brother, so I will bid you farewell now. We shall meet again if the opportunity arises,” Wei Wuji said gently, and bowed before turning around and leaving.
“Wait, may I know where my elder brother is?” Ling Chuxi asked loudly.
“I’m sorry, I’m not aware of his location.” Wei Wuji waved his hand and slowly walked away.
By the time his figure eventually disappeared into the night, Ling Chuxi and the rest still had not regained their composure.
After a while, Ling Chuxi finally came to her senses and frowned. “What is going on? That fellow was Wei Wuji, but is he the same Wei Wuji from earlier? Who did we meet earlier then?” Could it be that they were twins? One body, two souls? Was it possible?
“It is the same person, but the one you saw just now was the Wei Wuji that is not crazy. Earlier, we saw the crazy Wei Wuji, and the first Wei Wuji we saw was the one that’s not crazy,” Jiang Wuhen explained solemnly.
“Huh?” Ling Chuxi looked at Jiang Wuhen in confusion.
“Ah, it’s hard to explain. Anyway, when he is not crazy, he is a humble and polite gentleman. When he is crazy… Well, he is a total madman, and his cultivation increases immensely. Rumors say that once, he followed his seniors to visit a few elders of the Cyan Water Sect. In the beginning, he was prim and proper, but later, he suddenly went crazy and challenged the elder of the Cyan Water Sect. That elder saw that he was young and wanted to teach him a lesson, but Wei Wuji’s cultivation had increased, and the elder almost suffered a quiet loss,” Jiang Wuhen said after some thought.
“What happened after that?” Ling Chuxi felt that this lunatic was quite interesting and continued to pursue her curiosity.
“That elder knew who Wei Wuji was, and since some elders of his clan were around, he was reluctant to really injure him, but in truth, he truly could not suppress him. In the end, he was chased by Wei Wuji around the sect for an entire day and night. On the second day, Wei Wuji sobered up and knelt before the sect gate for three day and three nights, crying miserably and apologizing,” Jiang Wuhen said while smiling.
“Kneeling for three days and three nights and then crying miserably? Are you sure that he was not crazy then?” Ling Chuxi asked incredulously, failing to see how these were the actions of a sane person. However, she sort of understood it now. This Wei Wuji was a typical case of split personality.
