Shrouding the Heavens

Chapter 98 One Vessel Breaking Ten Thousand Obstacles

Chapter 98 One Vessel Breaking Ten Thousand Obstacles

This was a completely new experience for him. Ye Fan stood up in the sky, riding upon an astral wind, his clothes ruffling around him. Standing high above the ground, a feeling of control welled up within him.

He gazed far into the distance from the sky. This was a completely new feeling for him. Relying on his own strength to soar into the sky, he was amazed as he looked down on the land he had lived in.

The boundless land’s magnificent mountains and rivers all appeared before his eyes. His heart felt free from worry, as if he was a lofty existence beyond the creatures of heaven and earth. He felt a grand and heroic sensation, as if all the lands were under his control.

“This is the Spring of Life realm. I can finally feel its powerful strength…” Ye Fan stood in the sky, his flesh completely free of impurities, his whole body bright and flickering with the specks of l.u.s.ter of a perfect masterpiece. He felt like a whole new person.

Only now did he truly understand just how huge the difference was between different realms. His body felt full, almost perfect. He felt that if he were to meet any cultivators in the Sea of Bitterness realm, just by lifting a hand he could annihilate them. This wasn’t blind arrogance, but the result of his power becoming countless times stronger.

Ye Fan rode a divine rainbow, pa.s.sing through heaven and earth. The resplendent rainbow cut through the sky. When it moved it was like a meteorite streaking through the air, and when he stood still he was like the bright moon over the sea, before becoming the Azure Dragon soaring within the sky.

Over an hour pa.s.sed before he calmed himself down. Standing on a mountain summit, he let the cool breeze blow past him, his black hair gently dancing. His eyes were like two bright stars.

Ye Fan stood there silently. His powerful aura was retracted, replaced with a serene and peaceful air. He seemed completely faultless. With his sleeves drifting in the wind, he seemed like an exiled immortal overlooking the earth, graceful and detached, natural and transcendent.

At this moment, his Sea of Bitterness was half the size of a fist. It had calmed down, no longer exploding like a volcano, no longer surging with waves, and no longer blazing with fire.

His golden Sea of Bitterness was very tranquil. Within the center was a spring gurgling, and a vigorous life aura filled the s.p.a.ce. That was the divine energy spring.

The Wheel of Life that was drowned by the Sea of Bitterness had finally been connected, and the endless life energy within it could finally gush out. This was the foundation of powerful cultivators.

Ripples flowed out from this spring towards the rest of the Sea of Bitterness, turning into gentle waves that gave it an additional spirituality and natural air. The golden sea’s undulations and the divine spring’s gurgling, when combined, created endless divine energy and vigorous life energy.

At this moment, the mysterious green copper was located at the bottom of the mouth of the spring, constantly absorbing the energy from the divine Spring of Life. As for the golden tome, it was still pushed to the edge, unable to get close to the divine spring.

The cauldron that Ye Fan was trying to refine was still only a rough outline at this time. It was around the size of a cherry, floating above his Sea of Bitterness.

Normally, within each of the great realms — the Sea of Bitterness, the Spring of Life, the Divine Bridge, and Paramita— a unique Vessel could be refined, but now Ye Fan had already reached the second realm without even forming a complete Vessel. This caused him to frown, as the cauldron was truly difficult to refine.

However, he wasn’t too worried. The Dao Scripture clearly stated that the more profound and complicated a Vessel was, the more difficult it would be for it to take shape. They possessed heaven and earth’s Dao and Truth.

According to the Dao Scripture, it was possible to just refine a single powerful Vessel that combined all of the four great realms. In other words, in order to create the most powerful vessel, only one Vessel would be refined repeatedly, instead of four singly.

Rome wasn’t built in a day. In order to form a great Vessel, it required extra time and effort. Once it succeeded, it would be termed a Vessel capable of breaking through ten thousand obstacles.

Within the boundless Eastern Wastelands, only a couple ancient scriptures recorded this mysterious and profound method of refining just one Vessel in all four great realms. Ordinary cultivators would never have the chance to touch such scriptures.

Even most of the disciples of the Sacred Lands and Ancient Desolation n.o.ble Families who had such ancient scriptures did not dare to take this risk. Opportunity and danger existed at the same time. Wanting to obtain more required a greater investment that was unsupportable. Using four great realms to refine one Vessel...since ancient times, the absolute majority of people who attempted this had all failed. They wasted their years, and without their own Vessel, they were unable to control any divine weapons, basically becoming handicapped. Therefore, even the disciples of Sacred Lands and Ancient Desolation n.o.ble Families would rarely make such a choice.

At the Sea of Bitterness realm, Ye Fan didn’t have to make this decision yet, as he was completely focused on refining the cauldron. But now that he had broken into the Spring of Life realm, that Vessel hadn’t taken shape, so he had to make this decision.

“Although doing such a thing is full of danger and may not even succeed in my whole lifetime, I cannot retreat. I’ll continue refining the cauldron. The reason I chose it was to form the most powerful Vessel as it might one day gain heaven and earth’s Dao and Truth. Using all four great realms to refine one Vessel is not a contradiction to this. In fact, it supports my original decision. There’s no reason for me to cower back.”

Ye Fan wasn’t worried about other people having many Vessels, but him only having one. He believed that the so-called one Vessel breaking ten thousand obstacles written about in the Dao Scripture would not let him down.

“I hope by using this much time I can create a great Vessel and not just waste my whole life…”

After reaching the Spring of Life realm, he was now able to soar through the sky. Ye Fan started to consider going back to the Ancient Desolation Forbidden Land, but he first had to make sufficient preparations. Otherwise, he might end up becoming a buried corpse there.

---

He didn’t impatiently leave the cave, instead continuing to stay there and solidify his foundation. After a breakthrough in one’s cultivation, some time was required to become accustomed to it. Over this time, the immortal cave was carved out further by Ye Fan in order to obtain more of the flame fiends’ spiritual energy. He dug deeper into the floor, narrowly avoiding causing the flame fiends to erupt.

Time pa.s.sed quickly. Ye Fan cultivated for another year, completely refining the entire fire vein. He had completely stabilized himself at his realm, and had even advanced quite a bit. The gurgling divine spring had now gained even more life energy.

Of course, this wasn’t his greatest gain. The thing made him happiest was that the cauldron’s rough embryonic shape had been refined. With the help of the flame fiends’ spiritual energy and countless refinements, he had finally formed the initial three-footed circular cauldron.

“It looks like that successfully refining this Vessel requires some special spiritual energies. I’m certain that the various divine flames’ energies will be the most effective. Just like smelting a real weapon, a Vessel requires a flame source to be refined. Only then can my cauldron reach a peak level.”

A small embryonic cauldron floated above Ye Fan’s Sea of Bitterness. Its divine splendor was reserved, seemingly very simple and natural. His countless refinements and copying of the green copper’s Dao Glyphs over this past year had caused the small cauldron to possess an extraordinary air, the feeling of an innate Dao charm.

Under Ye Fan’s urging, the small cauldron rushed out his body, silently and easily piercing through a stone wall over ten meters thick. It rushed out of the cave, floating in the sky.

“One cauldron, two handles, three feet. The Dao gives birth to one, one gives birth to two, two gives birth to three, and three gives birth to all living things, carrying Yin and holding Yang…Excellent! Perfect! Amazing!”

Ye Fan was very satisfied. The simple and natural small cauldron gave him a sense of Dao truths and nature. It seemed as if it had already given birth to heaven and earth’s Dao and Truth, appearing mysterious and profound.

“I’m looking forward to that time when my Vessel reaches the point of one Vessel breaking ten thousand obstacles…”

The small cauldron had only just been created, but it already could be considered a powerful weapon. It was capable of blocking and attacking, and piercing through all obstacles. The green copper’s mysterious Dao Glyphs gave it an astonis.h.i.+ng power, allowing it to continuously transform.

Ye Fan had arrived in this world three years ago. He had lived in the Spirit Ruins Paradise for a while and then also cultivated within this immortal cave for almost two years. His body had grown quite a bit and was now around 170 cm tall. But he still appeared very young and tender, looking about fourteen years old.

His short hair back then was 60 cm long now, black and thick, scattering naturally over his chest and back, fluttering with the wind. He appeared very delicate, and no one would think that such a youngster was a cultivator who had already reached the Spring of Life realm.

“It’s time to leave…” Ye Fan turned back and looked around the immortal cave one last time before flying out low within the mountain forest.

Ye Fan dragged a river deer behind him as he entered a small town in order to trade it for some money. He first bought a suitable outfit for himself. His body had grown quite a bit over these two years, and his old clothes had long since become unbearably shabby and were basically rags. When he had entered the town, many people had been pointing at him.

In order to cultivate within this world, the first thing I have to do is be able to blend in with the mortal world, he thought to himself.

Ye Fan found a place to eat, choosing a seat near the window. The table beside him was occupied by people whose manners did not seem like ordinary mortals.

Real cultivators would not have any interaction with mortals. They wouldn’t appear unordinary in front of the mortal world’s people. Even when they were facing each other, a mortal would not be able to tell the other was a cultivator. But to Ye Fan, these few people were obviously cultivators and they were following the custom of not disturbing the surrounding mortals as they quietly chatted. Other than extremely sensitive and keen people, ordinary mortals would not be able to hear anything.

“That Demon Emperor’s tomb is really too evil. Countless cultivators have died there over these past two years, but it still refuses to be opened.”

“The entire Eastern Wastelands has gone frantic, and even the huge sects sent their experts to those ruins. But none of them have any way of opening the Yin Grave.”

“The main problem is that those truly powerful peak cultivators are worried and don’t dare to act carelessly. That Yin Grave is very evil and has long since almost gained its own spirit. Unless they had the most precious treasure of the Eastern Wastelands human race, even if a supreme cultivator came and broke the sure-kill trap, they would not be able to stop the Yin Grave from fleeing into the Eastern Wastelands’ underground, and disappearing without a trace.”

“Are the rumors that three great figures died there true?”

“It’s true. Over these two years, countless cultivators have died. That deep pool is practically full of dead corpses. Even those powerful cultivators died in succession, and several more of them are said to be at death’s door.”

Ye Fan was very surprised that the Demon Emperor’s Yin Grave had yet to be opened after two years. The Yin Grave’s sure-kill mechanism seemed to have taken many cultivators’ lives. He quietly listened while eating, acting completely normal in order to not attract the cultivators’ attention.

“That deep pool is surrounded by mountains of corpses and is now considered a devilish land. Even from far away it is easy to see a resentful air that causes one’s blood to run cold. Each inch of that land is stained with cultivators’ blood.”

“If anyone who goes there dies to become part of a mountain of corpses, why are there still countless cultivators going over there?”

“If there wasn’t a treasure, who would act like this? That’s the tomb of the Demon Emperor who united his generation of the demon race. There are definitely countless treasures within.”

“Right, the reason that even those supreme existences are being disturbed is because the Demon Emperor’s Yin Grave contains the Eastern Wastelands human race’s most precious treasure – the Desolate PaG.o.da!”

“Is that the legendary Desolate PaG.o.da that is said to be able to even suppress and kill Immortals?”

“Of course. Otherwise, how could those great existences all charge in despite the risk of death?”

“Over these two years, all the disciples of the sects are afraid to be sent to those ruins. The sects refuse to give up, and if they continue, who knows how many people will die.”

“You might not know this, but it’s said even the Central States’ people have been disturbed. Apparently, there are some mysterious people hurrying over to our Eastern Wastelands.”

“Could it be that they’re thinking of s.n.a.t.c.hing our Eastern Wastelands’ most precious treasure, the Desolate PaG.o.da?”

“I don’t think they would try to spread their reach that far. Although the Central States’ cultivators are the number one in this world, suppressing all other four regions, they wouldn’t dare to easily make an enemy out of all the Eastern Wastelands. If a huge war broke out, it’s unimaginable how many people would die. The rumor is that they seem to be searching for a precious treasure of their Central States…”

Not far away, Ye Fan’s heart was thumping loudly. Without even thinking, he knew that the Central States’ great figures were definitely coming for the mysterious green copper.
