Siana

Chapter 33

- Harding corps, Tuesday afternoon -

"Will, mind explaining what this whole thing with Ribekian trip is?"

"What exactly don"t you understand, Al?"

Looking up from his computer, Will asked to his friend that had barged into his room.

"Okay I"ll be more direct: are you doing this because of Sia?"

Alex slumped on the chair in front of Will"s desk.

"And if my answer is yes?"

"Then you need to think twice. Do you even realize that you know her for only a week and you are forcefully rushing everything?" Alex said exasperated.

"Huh, rushing things? So what?" closing his laptop Will continued,

"Alex you know better than anyone that I have never liked anyone. But I like her, no, I love her. I know this is all crazy. But I can"t help it. She is on my mind 24/7. It"s like, I have longed for her for my whole life without even realizing it. But once I met her, I realized that she was what I needed all along."

"I want nothing but the best for you, Will. What I ask of you is not to give up on her, but rather, slow down and reflect on your actions. You are literally forcing yourself into her life. Are you sure this is the right thing to do?"

"I have already reflected enough, and the answer is till the same: I am sure."

Sighing deeply Alex continued,

"Okay, do as you like. But remember for this whole thing to succeed, she would need to reciprocate your feelings. Also, just so that you know, I am coming too. I will give you alone time, but sorry Will, but I can"t trust you when you are like this."

Alex stood up and left without even sparing another glance at Will. What he needed to do now was to organise his schedule to be able to leave on Friday. The girl was surely a magnet for trouble.

On the other hand, Will felt a bit angered by his friend"s mistrust, but he knew that there were grains of truth in his words. He knew he was losing his mind whenever the topic touched Sia, but he couldn"t help it. And anyways, Alex being there with him would certainly help him in meeting her.

- Country Z, Tuesday evening -

Cain sat into the car with a dark expression on his face. Ash kept silent and they just continued their journey.

- -

- Central Hospital of Ribekia, Wednesday afternoon -

"Suction up!" Sia shouted to the nurse, while trying to clear up the bleeding in the patient"s head by the microscopic sucker in her head.

- An hour later -

"Doc he had already lost too much blood. We couldn"t do much to help."

"I know, I will go talk to the family." Sia nodded, trying to act professional but she couldn"t help feeling remorseful. If only they had brought him faster...

Going to the waiting area she delivered the news to the family and explained what happened. After expressing her condolences, she left them with the nurse to go over the necessary procedures...

Tired, she entered her office and slumped on the small bed on the corner. Though officially she hadn"t finished her residency yet, she was treated the same way as the doctors because of her abilities and her achievements over the years in the hospital. The test in two months was but a procedure, as she had already pa.s.sed the test a year earlier. This was why she had an office of her own.

She picked up her phone and after some time texted Cain.

"Text me when you have time"

A message notification came immediately:

"Is something the matter, Queenie?" - King

"I wasn"t able to save a patient" - Queenie

While writing the message Sia couldn"t help but feel a few tears fall on her cheeks. Doctors were also humans and she hated when she wasn"t able to save people. Even though today"s case was out of her control, she couldn"t help but grieve.

"Was it your fault?" - King

"He was brought in a critical condition with extensive brain bleeding" - Queenie

"Meaning it wasn"t" - King

"Yeah..." - Queenie

"Siana, love, we have discussed this many times. You are no G.o.d, and you can"t save everyone all the time. You have chosen a profession where you will see death as often as you see rescue. Remember why you chose to become a doctor in the first place.

You did your best and I am sure you did even beyond that. Your soul might be that of an angel but don"t forget that you are but a human." - King

Sia smiled at his words. He was right. She was no G.o.d. Much of the outcomes in surgeries was a matter of luck; both good and bad, and success and failure were often out of surgeon"s control, like today.

"Thanks... sorry I didn"t even ask how you are" - Queenie

Cain actually felt jet-lag and tired from all the trips he made. Not wanting to worry her, he was prepared to say he was good but then he decided to be true to her just the way they had promised.

"Actually pretty tired. The meeting didn"t go too well yesterday. He was someone devoted to the Vallauris. Will see about tomorrow. I am boarding the plane in an hour." - King

Sia felt a pang in her heart. He must had been really tired but he always prioritised her, not even taking a second more to answer her.

"Cain, try to sleep a bit if you can. I don"t know how to help you, so tell me if there is a way. As for the meeting, don"t even think about it. Throw away the bad experience but remember the lesson" - Queenie

Before Cain could even answer Sia added quickly,

"Whatever the end result of this whole thing is, your Queen will always stand by you" - Queenie

Reading her message Cain felt all his exhaustion wash away. He was so giddy from her words he didn"t even notice the bright smile that creeped on his face.

"Hmmm, My Queen is truly the best" - King

"Naturally" - Queenie

"Siana" - King

"Yes?" - Queenie

After a few minutes the impatient girl finally received her lover"s message;

"All I want and all I need is to be with you, to kiss you, to taste you and simply to ... " - King

Cain deliberately didn"t continue. Even though they had known each other for years and been cheesy to one another, they had never been this intimate. He didn"t want her to feel discomfort.

Meanwhile, Sia blushed profusely at his shameless words. This guy was the best case of giving an inch and taking a mile. But, no way she was going to one-sidedly endure the shamelessness, and it"s not like she didn"t want the same. So with her mischievous side kicking in, she wrote,

"I want all of that and even more than that too, so try not to kill my desires by returning to me too late." - Queenie

Before Cain could come back to his senses Sia typed quickly.

"There is an emergency, I need to go now" - Queenie

She lied but she couldn"t face his questions now.

"Anyways, this was but an innocent lie to protect my dignity so it should be fine," she was in the process of convincing herself when a message came.

"Noted my Queen. And saved too, in case you forget about this when I visit you this weekend" - King

"c.r.a.p!"
