Arthur was the first one to notice the other two men behind the couple. Well, "notice" wasn"t really the right word to describe the situation, as he was the one who had informed Cain of their arrival, making the latter rush his plans to come here earlier. He lightly coughed and motioned to the two forgotten figures with dark expressions.Cain turned to them with raised eyebrows and after a moment nodded dismissively at them. Siana also suddenly remembered of the presence of other people in the room.
"What the heck Sia!? Where have all your people"s skills evaporated to, huh?" Sia berated herself
She took a deep breath and separated herself from Cain, not forgetting to give him a dirty look. She went to Arthur and said with a smile,
"Hi! Sorry for my manners. I am Siana! Please stop standing there and come in!" she then continued with a chuckle, "And do let me know who you are too, please,"
Arthur did just as he was told and came in while introducing himself cheerfully,
"Hi, Siana. I am Arthur, Cain"s bestest friend! A pleasure to finally meet you."
"The pleasure is all mine," Sia chuckled at his introduction.
Arthur was still smiling brightly when he suddenly felt a sense of danger. Turning towards the jealous boyfriend, he was greeted with his warning glare. Not wanting to experience the wrath of the dragon, he walked a bit away from Sia with his hands up in surrender. He confirmed that Cain"s glare softened considerably and was finally able to breath again.
"Why is this guy so d.a.m.n intolerant," he cursed at Cain, that is, naturally only inwardly, as he still valued his dear little life.
Sia noticed all of these and just rolled her eyes at Cain"s exaggerated possessiveness. Calming herself, she finally turned to face the elephant in the room.
"Guys, sorry for the late introductions: this is Cain, my boyfriend," She said walking towards Cain, "and he," she pointed with her chin towards Arthur, "is Arthur, as you have already heard."
Then she looked at Cain and Arthur and talked to them, this time pointing at the other two men, "He is my cousin Alex and the one beside him is Will, his best friend and also a friend of mine.
Now that all the introductions are done how about we go in?"
After she finished saying this, she started walking towards the living room. Cain swiftly caught her hand and, interlocking their fingers, walked in with her in a matter-of-factly manner.
"Is he showing off deliberately or is he just being his usual cheesy self? Ughhh, how am I supposed to explain Alex how the guy I had no idea about two weeks ago suddenly became my boyfriend? And isn"t this too savage towards Will? I did want to come clean but look at the guy: he is literally so pale he looks like a ghost. And Arthur is not any better: he is so d.a.m.n excited by the show I feel like giving him some popcorn."
They were soon sitting in the same sofas as before. Her condo was designed in a simplistic way that left a lot of free s.p.a.ce but didn"t lack anything significant. Her walls were of pastel colours, and the furniture was modern but minimalistic. The living room, where they were currently at, had pastel green walls and a white ceiling with hanging metal and gla.s.s pendants. There were three sofas in the room, with the biggest one facing the TV on the wall and the other two placed on the sides. In the middle, there was a fluffy creamy carpet with a wooden rectangular table, that matched the wooden floor, on it. The room was decorated with paintings, plants and a few bookshelves, overall creating a cozy atmosphere.
Seeing that no one planned to talk, Sia finally turned to Cain and Arthur, to ask the question that had been bothering her since the very beginning:
"How did you get in here without me being notified?"
Cain looked at her for a moment and then answered nonchalantly,
"I own the complex."
"As well as all the complexes in the neighbourhood," Arthur blurted out.
"You what? Wait... " suddenly she came to a realisation, "is that why the security heightened so much right after I moved in?"
Cain gave her a teasing smile,
"Seems like my Queen has her dense moments too."
Will couldn"t stand their lovey-dovey interaction anymore. It all looked like his worst nightmare come true. He took deep breaths and tried to calm himself down as much as possible. After awhile, ignoring the bantering still going on, he said in an ice-cold voice that was layered with hostility and anger:
"Can you explain what exactly is going on in here?"
Alex didn"t like Will"s tone in the slightest. He thought, that whatever was going on was Sia"s business and it wasn"t like she couldn"t date someone else. What bothered him though, was that her boyfriend turned out to be none other than Cain Greydale, someone she had claimed not to have any connection with.
So expecting an answer of his own, he added reluctantly,
"Didn"t you say you didn"t know Cain?...like last week..."
"I knew this was coming," Sia sighed to herself.
She held Cain"s hand and, upon seeing his darkened look after Will"s question, she shook her head, signaling him to not get agitated. Cain looked back at her, and she smiled at him warmly, this time asking him to let her do the talking,
"Okay, how about I bring some refreshments and some drinks before the story begins?"
The men reluctantly nodded at her so she quickly went to the kitchen for refreshments. As soon as she left, Cain closed his eyes, making it clear he was in no mood to talk or explain anything: just as he promised her to.
Arthur, on the other hand, didn"t like being idle, so he stood up and headed to the kitchen to help Sia with the refreshments.
The two soon came back with a few bottles of wine and different snacks, varying from crisps to sweets.
After they placed everything on the table, Sia settled herself near Cain, who readily placed his arm around her shoulders. However, it seemed that this wasn"t enough for him, so he shifted himself: putting one of his legs up on the sofa. He then pulled her between his legs, cuddling her lovingly and making sure her whole body was plastered to his own.
Looking up to his face, Sia asked cautiously,
"Can I make an exception and have some wine? ... Please?"
He furrowed his brows, but thinking of something, he tightened his hold and said,
"Only a gla.s.s. And I am free to take action if anything happens."
"Deal!" she agreed happily and picked the gla.s.s handed to her by Arthur. Taking a sip she started her story with her eyes drifting somewhere far away,
"Before telling when and how we got acquainted, you will first need to know about the events that led to our meeting."
