Chapter 48

Questioning the very anomaly that is the elf right in front of him, a dwarven warrior, who seemed to be the leader of the group, waits for what the elf is supposed to say.

"What in the blazes?!!" Gray gritted his teeth in pain at the arrow still currently pierced right in his left knee. "This is f.u.c.king abuse you a.s.sholes!!! Does it really have to come to this, instead of talking it out like civilized people!?"

The leader merely ignored the ranting as he kneeled to take a closer inspection at Gray. Then without any warning, he pulled out the arrow on the elf"s knee, causing the elf to flinch at the pain. The dwarf then faces his archer companion immediately right beside him as he handed the projectile item.

"Mina." The leader called out one of his comrades and a beautiful human warrior with pale blonde hair styled in a pony-tail acknowledges him as she approaches. "Heal the elf first so that he can walk properly when we take him to our lord"s hall for questioning."

"Yes, sire." The woman, Mina, nods in response as she kneeled as well to cast a healing spell at Gray"s injured knee.

"W-what is this!?" Mina"s eyes widen with extreme shock as all the warriors turned their attention to her.

"What"s wrong, girl?" The leader asks as he sees the woman"s baffled look.

"H-his knee." Mina"s voice stutters apprehensively. "It"s all healed up already."

"W-what!?" The leader responded with the same amount of astonishment. "Are you sure you are not pulling our leg girl!?"

"Of course not!!" Mina retorted loudly. "I didn"t even cast my healing magic, yet his knee doesn"t even sport a single injury like the arrow didn"t even make its mark in the first place."

Indeed, Gray felt that his knee is now perfectly fine the moment when the arrow was plucked right out from him. The bleeding was all gone and he felt that he could stand up at any moment in this instance.

The elf too was feeling confused as well amidst the situation, wondering about the mysterious phenomenon that has occurred to him.

"Strange." Gray thought as he stared at the once wounded area of his body. "I could have sworn that I felt my health was certainly reduced as caused by the arrow shot, but my health regenerated in an instant shortly after. This is definitely weird."

His self-questioning has to be saved for later though as he was still being eyed suspiciously by all of the warriors that currently surrounds him.

"Can you stand?" The leader asks him, receiving a nod of response from the elf as he did so. "Good. Now let me ask my previous question again. Who are you and how did you get here in our sacred plane?"

"I… I"m not sure." Gray answers with uncertainty on his voice. "All I know is that when I offered my prayers to the G.o.d, Agveyr at his temple, I was simply summoned here without any warning."

With the elf"s response, all of the warriors in his vicinity glanced towards one another as they are seen to be mumbling tensely with nervous expressions.

"C-c.r.a.p, did we make a mistake?"

"By our lord"s blade, is he perhaps summon by our lord?"

"s.h.i.+t, we were not informed about this."

"He must be someone important if the lord did summon him here."

"Hopefully, the lord will be merciful on us in his punishment."

"Silence!!"

The last statement came from the leader as he immediately ceased his subordinates" bantering before it can even go out of hand.

"A mortal then, huh." The leader said as the elf nods at his remark.

"If what you said is true." The leader said to Gray. "Then we apologize for our transgressions earlier. While we were training outside here at the grounds, we sensed a foreign oddity suddenly entering this realm without us being informed, thus we can only a.s.sume that an enemy has somehow found his way into our realm. This is not the first time that happened though as the last figure spread his unbiased chaos and destruction towards all. Of course, that happened thousands of years ago when Xaz"vernok declared war on every plane of existence. The horrifying memories of his burning havoc are forever engraved into our minds. So, forgive us if we are being too cautious in our endeavors."

"You could have asked first, you know, before charging right at me mindlessly." Gray crossed his arm with an unimpressed look. "Anyways, what"s done is done and I"m all healed up, I suppose. I guess you are going to lead me to that huge golden castle over there, right? I also want to know the reason as to why I am here."

"Yes, that is our intention all along." The leader said. "Please follow us."

As Gray was now being led by the warrior group that was hostile to him earlier, he took the time to take a closer observation at them.

The leader of the band of warriors is a dwarf. Evident by his short bulky stature and brown messy hair and a long beard. He is clad in a set of brown plate armor with a Warhammer of the same color scheme strap on his back.

The woman that attempts to heal him, Mina, is a female human. She is equipped with robe-themed plate armor. Her cuira.s.s and shoulder pouldrons are gold in color, with plated gauntlets and boots of the same color and material as well.

Seeing as she was about to cast healing magic on him, Gray deduce that the female warrior might be a Paladin at what little evidence he gathers between her and the leader"s conversation.

"Huh, I"m actually right." Gray thought with triumph.

The rest of the warriors each have their own preferences from the looks of it, with them wearing different sets of their respective armor and weapons to match their fighting style.

Gray and the group proceeds to make their way to the castle.

While they did so, the elf decided to have a chat with the dwarf to get a speck of an idea at the realm that he finds himself at and to know more about these powerful warriors whose stats are concealed by question marks.

"So, where am I exactly?" Gray initiates the conversation.

"You are standing at the Divine realm of Agnothar, the paradise for individuals with the heart of a warrior." The dwarf spoke with dignity in his every tone.

"I see." Gray nods while stroking his chin in acknowledgment. "So, you have a name?"

"It"s Vakrean Woldhorn, a warrior from the era of old. The Dwarf replies. "I"m also one of the platoon leaders of Agnothar"s garrison. Around me is my subordinates, brothers, and sisters at arms. How about you stranger?"

"Gray Allister." The elf responds with a nod as Vakrean acknowledges with the same gesture.

The distance seemed to be quite significant as they finally arrived at their designated location after forty minutes of walk.

Standing before them now is a long golden bridge that emphasizes the border between the gra.s.sland that they are currently standing and the majestic castle of gold that is right in front of their very eyes.

"Wow." Gray was amazed by the glorious sight being presented to him. "What exactly is that place?"

"That is the majestic palace of our lord, Agveyr. The palace is called the Aurum Castle." The dwarf, Vakrean said with utmost pride in his voice. "This is the place where our lords.h.i.+p resides as he watches over us all in this plane."

Gray simply nods in acknowledgment at finding out about the place as they crossed the bridge while being surveyed by the scrutinizing eyes of the guards guarding the bridge.

Eyeing at the guards, Gray saw that they are equipped with almost the same armor in design as to what the Romans wear during their heights of glorious history, a set of Legionnaire armor. The only difference is that it is colored in gold, fitting as their armor matches the ambiance of the whole place.

As they arrived at the giant doorway of the castle, the guard who is stationed in there approached the group with a questioning look.

Agnothar Guard

"Halt there, Brother of War." The guard raises his hand. "I see you have found the fabled guest before the courier does. Lord Agveyr is expecting his arrival."

"Ehehe, expecting?" Vakrean chuckles nervously while sheepishly scratching his hair. Then he regains his composure as he spoke hastily. "Why uh… yes, of course, that"s why we are bringing him inside for our lords.h.i.+p to meet."

The guard seemed to be a bit skeptical at the dwarf"s behavior as he eyed the group meticulously. Add to the fact that the platoon"s reaction is not exactly what you call subtle as they are all seen to be sweating profusely behind their leader like they have done something terribly wrong.

Gray was merely amused at their funny expressions as he snickered in the background, finding it rather entertaining and how they seem to have screwed up by needlessly injuring him just because of some a.s.sumption and misunderstanding.

"Sucks to be them, hahaha. That"s what you get for wounding me earlier you b.a.s.t.a.r.ds."

[+1 CHAOS]

"Hmph, very well." The guard despite his suspicion allowed them to go inside as his orders were to grant the elven mortal guest entry into the lords.h.i.+p"s sacred palace.

With the guard"s approval, Gray and the platoon entered the castle, with the elf bracing himself for whatever this G.o.d, Agveyr wants with someone like him.
