The Cat-folk could only gulp apprehensively in response as he answers while bowing his head down in shame. "It"s a failure, Guild Master."
Malic merely sighs in slight disappointment. "I see. I do hope that you have a legitimate reason for this. After all, failure in our ranks const.i.tutes dire consequences to discourage such repeats."
Isamu nods as he began telling Malic about the affairs days ago with Gray, starting with the pair"s first meeting of the Elf a.s.sisting the Cat-folk at the latter"s skirmish against the Bandits, how they were able to find out about the location of the Bandit Encampment that is inhabiting at the forest of Tamwall Valley by interrogating one of the Bandits.
Isamu"s tone also started to show subtle signs of anger when he talks about the next events when they arrived at the vicinity of the Encampment, only to hear the conversations of the Bandit regarding them invading Oakwood and the innocent villagers that inhabit the place. The Cat-folk"s tone abruptly changes to gratification as he next talks about his new Elven friend, Gray"s elaborate plan of preventing that disaster from ever occurring.
Indeed, Malic"s eyes widen a bit when he heard of what the Elven Arcanist did in order to drive the Bandits away from the Encampment, thus saving Oakwood from their vile intentions.
"Interesting." Malic rubs his chin with intrigue. "The Elf"s plan might be slightly outlandish but it sure yields the intended results. Your friend was able to make the best out of the current situation and fit it as a favorable result. If he was a Warrior, then I would gladly welcome him in our ranks for showcasing such remarkable resourcefulness."
"Well, he was a bit regretful of his actions though," Isamu added in his statement, causing Malic to raise an eyebrow on this. "He regrets not having the power of killing the Bandits at where they stand. But having no choice on the matter, he went with the most rational plan that he thought of with his abilities. He was rather persuasive when he convinced me in his crazy plan, with me doing my part by injuring him so that he can show off his convincing battle wounds to the Bandits."
"I see." Malic simply nods as he eyed Isamu with utmost intent. "And how about you? Did you regret letting those outlaws go?"
"To be honest, a little bit," Isamu answers with slight resentment on himself as he bows his head and faces the floor. "I may not have shown it to Gray to a.s.sure him that his decision is the right one, but I too feel the same regretful feeling as him. If only we were more powerful to intervene more directly and perhaps, end the outlaws right in their Encampment once and for all, but alas, this is the only way after we have argued about it in the initial stages of the planning. Those Bandits who went on their way will only perform their vile acts in other parts of the land."
As Isamu s.h.i.+fted his head upwards, he was slightly taken aback at seeing Malic smiling at him.
"Sometimes…" Malic sighed deeply as he lectures the Cat-folk. "You are presented with some tough choices, choices that will question the very morality that you fight for. As a leader, one must have the courage to make tough yet wise decisions that would earn some form of disapproval from your subordinates. If that"s the case, then choosing the choice that yields a better balance of virtue and outcome is the logical action to pursue in your every endeavor, a lesser evil if one should say. Letting those bandits go may have been detrimental, but at the very least, both of you have acted according to what"s best in your current circ.u.mstance to come up with a suitable outcome. Seeing that you two still don"t possess the necessary capacity to fight toe to toe with overwhelming numbers of Bandits, I"m glad that you did not act rashly and instead, think rationally amidst the difficult situation."
"I… you"re right." Isamu simply nods with a thoughtful expression. "Thank you for your input, Guild Master."
"Although, you did technically fail on your mission, a rank advancement quest that I personally a.s.signed to you," Malic said in an instant, his tone a bit harsh. "But I suppose I"ll be lenient as you did contribute in saving Oakwood by making use of your cat ears to eavesdrop on the Bandits" conversation, resulting in finding out about their vile intentions. You also helped your companion by going along with his plan by means of injuring him to falsify his claims to the Bandits. Although this does not warrant a promotion since you were not the one who thought of the plan, I"ll make sure to reward you for your efforts at least."
Malic took out something from his Inventory as an elaborate-looking Greatsword with a detailed face of the lion that serves as the pommel. The grip is blue in color with the guard silver like his plate armor. Isamu indeed could not help but be awe-stricken by such weaponry.
"I grant you one of my blades from my personal armory, use it wisely."

YOU RECEIVED 5 ATTRIBUTE POINTS!!
YOU RECEIVED 1 ABILITY POINT!!
"Huh, I guess it"s about time I leveled up." Isamu thought with a smirk as he saw his own System Notification making the announcement.
His way of distributing his Attribute point is simple. Two points in Strength, another two in Endurance, and the last one in Speech.
Being a Champion, Diplomacy is also a must if one hopes to inspire his allies and settle disputes with the tactful use of the tongue.
Since he already learned every skill in the Tier 1 section of his Discipline, he can"t spend his Ability point in that particular matter.
But that is not an issue. In fact, the more Ability points that you have, the better, since the points are a necessity in spending on various other skills from different sources that are outside of the System itself.
That is why one must be clever when they are going to learn a new skill as to not waste any of the precious points, the main reason why most of the people opted to reserve it.
"If you don"t have any more inquiries with me, then I suppose we are done here." Malic states as he crosses his arms. "If you are truly regretful and aim to become stronger, you may ask one of the Senior Members to teach you a thing or two during their spare time. I suggest Froidan for Greatsword fundamentals and training or my old friend, Krothu for anything that"s related. Of course, I could train you myself in both aspects but my duties as both the Guild Master and a member of the Count"s court are already taxing enough in my part.""I"ll heed your advice, Guild Master," Isamu said with appreciation. Then he bows his head down respectfully as he announces his intentions of leaving the office. "I must beg my leave."
A nod of acknowledgment is what he receives from Malic as Isamu makes his departure from the office.
"I suppose I should be meeting up with Gray at the Fighter"s Retreat," Isamu mutters to himself. "I bet he has not had a taste of the "Golden Lion" yet, hehe. He"ll definitely be in for a big surprise."
And with that, Isamu makes his plans of leaving the Guild, going to the Fighter"s Retreat where he"ll have some good ole drinking with his new Elven friend.
