I felt my heartbeat quicken as the three Bengali tigers bared their large sharp fangs at me. I clenched my trembling fists. Jesus Christ, I was ready for some philosophical sort of trial s.h.i.+t, not some sort of life threatning tiger situation.
Maldonius"s soft chuckle filled the tense air as he sat on a rock which gave him a perfect view of the situation. He snapped his fingers as bowls of luscious fruits surrounded him. Several women dressed in long silk robes fed him as he watched me. Even if he might not understand it I felt like flipping him off.
The f.u.c.ker was eating while I was about to be become the dinner of the hungry beasts in front of me. I shook my head.
My anxiety increased as I realized that I had no weapons with me. How was I supposed to fend off three hungry beasts?
I tried to calm down but my whole body continued to tremble. I mean this was the first time that I was coming into contact to such a situation. At that moment I remembered an article which I read for my freshman paper. It described how a woman in India survived a tiger attack. She did so by distracting the tiger by wounding herself then throwing her clothes far away. The tiger ran towards her clothes while she hid and escaped later on.
I am willing to do such a thing but I have no way to wound myself. I looked over to a smug Maldonius as he crushed a grape between his pearly teeth.
"Hey dragon b.i.t.c.h, can"t you give me some slakc and at least give me a dagger or something?"
Maldonius chuckled before saying.
"Nothing is free my dear, if you need a dagger you must provide something equaling in value."
Mother f.u.c.ker I am offering my f.u.c.king life right now because of your three trial challenge s.h.i.+t. What else could I offer?
The three Bengali tigers roared to remind me of my perilious situation. My knees shook as I nodded and said.
"What do you think is equal in value to a dagger?"
Maldonius stroked his chin as a woman peeled an orange on his lap.
"Hmm. Instead of something of equal value why not an added hindrance? This way it would be fair to award you a dagger. Don"t you agree?"
No I don"t f.u.c.king agree you little b.i.t.c.h. But right now I am in no position to complain.
"What kind of hindrance are we talking about?"
Maldonius smiled as he said.
"I will keep that a secret as this will make the event more entertaining. Don"t you think?"
I literally have no words for this a.s.shole. I sighed then said.
"Alright, but don"t give me a broken dagger or some nonsense s.h.i.+t like that!"
Maldonius laughed heartily as a piece of pineapple was inserted into his mouth. He chewed then snapped his fingers. A second later I felt something heavy in my right hand. I looked to see not only a dagger but a large saber. The hilt gleamed under the moonlight. I smirked. Nice weapon.
I looked all over my body. So far the hindrance he spoke about was not one that was physical. So where is it?
I turned to see his golden eyes gleam with mischief. Whatever. If I can get away from these three tigers then everything will be okay.
Now I must a.s.sess my situation. There is the ocean behind me, three tigers to one side, a b.a.s.t.a.r.d to the other side, and a forest in front of me. Logic would tell me to run straight into the forest. Due to the fact that I can climb up a tree and escape the tigers. But I can not be sure of my ability to outrun the tigers anyways.
I pouted. If I was dealing with sharks I could easily hurt one shark to make the others attack one another. Tigers aren"t cannibals after all. As I stepped forward I felt my foot sink into the sand.
The f.u.c.k?
I looked down to see the sand around me harden around my foot. Son of a b.i.t.c.h! The hindrance was a sinkhole in the sand?
I tried to move my right foot but it was stuck. The three tigers started to advance as they sensed my weakness. G.o.d d.a.m.n it! If I don"t think of something soon I"m going to turn into tiger feed!
If I get out of this situation I"m going to f.u.c.king rip that dragon to pieces.
Lord above I was always an innocent, and calm girl but ever since I came to this time period I"ve been doing dangerous and sinful acts. I mean my first act was sleeping with a guy. I sighed. Now is not the time to think about things like that.
Think Mila! Think! The tigers continued to advance as they licked their lips in antic.i.p.ation. Maldonius chuckled as he watched me. My mind went blank as fear filled me.
Jesus Christ. I need to get my s.h.i.+t together. I need to get my s.h.i.+t together. I need to-
Who am I kidding? Despite looking brave all the time I"m just an 18 year old girl at the root. An 18-year-old, 21st century girl who hasn"t seen war, suffrage, or problems in my life. I truly was blessed.
Ugh. This situation was so vexing!
I looked down and straightened my saber. I then cut the sand around my stuck leg. My leg was freed from that act. I frowned. This hindrance was manageable but it will be taking too much of my time and effort. Time which should be used to escape these tigers. I stepped back. The sand was not sticky in the sand area behind me only in the area in front of me. I smiled. This hindrance could actually help me in some way.
My right foot started to burn as if it were on fire. I watched it blister and redden. s.h.i.+t! The sand must have some sort of acid in it. I looked towards the three tigers.
I felt my heart clench. I did not want to hurt these tigers even if they planned on eating me. I could easily tempt them to come towards me and get stuck in the sand. That way I can use my saber to kill them, or they would burn with the sand. But both ways were cruel as f.u.c.k.
In any case the f.u.c.ker Maldonius didn"t state specifically that I had to kill the three tigers. He just said that I have to survive the night. I clicked my tongue in annoyance. Fire would be the best tool to scaring these tigers away. But I had no way to make fire. I looked down at the sand. I hate the fact that I have to do this but it will be the only way that I could survive.
I quickly took a couple of grains of the burning sand in my hand and threw them on the closest tiger. The tiger whispered as the scaling hot sand touched its skin. My hand shook as it began to blister and swell. I bit my lip to hold back my wails of pain.
The two other tigers started to become wary of me as they saw their suffering comrade. The three tigers then backed away towards the forest. I sighed in relief as I watched them enter the forest.
For now I was at least safe from the tigers. I looked up. The sky was still dark, how many more hours did I need to survive? I turned to look at an amused Maldonius. He walked over to me with a smile.
"My dear, you seem to have survived my dear pets and their large appet.i.tes. How interesting."
I glared at him and sighed.
"That hindrance of yours was quite the pain in the a.s.s."
Maldonius chuckled as he said.
"I appreciate you not hurting or killing my pets my dear."
I frowned.
"You"re an a.s.shole for putting your pets in such a predicament. In my world you would have been imprisoned."
"Oh my dear, your world seems to be quite the interesting place. I might visit it sometime soon. Would you be my guide?"
"f.u.c.k off dragon. Are you going to follow me for the duration of this night?"
Maldonius nodded and said.
"Is that an issue my dear?"
Of course it is, but I"m not going to satisfy his teasing fetish. I looked at the saber and angled it so that I could see my face reflected. My foot and hand throbbed as they burned from the sand. Maldonius snapped his fingers as my hand and foot returned to their original state. I turned to him.
"Why did you heal me? Is there a price I have to pay for this? If so I don"t need your healing powers."
Maldonius pouted.
"What a rude woman. Would it kill you to thank me?"
"It might."
Maldonius frowned before he said.
"Just count it as a token of my pity for you. I always reward people who work hard."
I smiled. He was an annoying b.a.s.t.a.r.d but might not be as bad as I had originally thought of him to be.
Whatever. I need to go into the forest and get some supplies so that I could camp out here. With the rise and fall of the tides I can"t be a.s.sured of the safety of sleeping on the sh.o.r.e.
Just as I said that a scorpion appeared in the sand next to my foot. My whole body flinched as I brought down my saber. The scorpion flinched before disappearing into thin air. I turned to see Maldonius smirk.
Should I just stab him with his saber. Maldonius flinched as if he read my thoughts. He then chuckled nervously before disappearing.
I laid down on the sand out of exhaustion. The sound of the waves. .h.i.tting against the sh.o.r.e created a beautiful melody in my mind. I sighed and closed my eyes.
Maybe I should take a small nap. It"s not like something could happen in the span of a few minutes. Or so I thought.
