I touched the top of my ear as I felt a warm liquid run down my ear. I turned to see a burly figure from the top of the transport s.h.i.+p holding a pistol. He jumped down on to our s.h.i.+p"s deck. I looked forward to see a nice round hole on the deck floor next to me. I clicked my tongue in annoyance. Of course this a.s.shole had to have some bodyguards. How annoying.
The large man then walked over to me with a scowl on his face. A fresh scar ran along the side of his face. The man"s ebony skin s.h.i.+ned under the sun. Johannes"s bodyguards were slaves as well. Despite the fact that the man shot he missed me on purpose. I smiled at the bodyguard and said.
"What"s your name?"
The African man looked at me and opened his mouth but shut it when he looked at Johannes.
"I don"t have a name. Only the one that master had chosen for me. I"m still new so I do not have one yet."
I turned and smacked the side of Johannes"s head. Johannes winced as he held his throbbing head.
"You son of a b.i.t.c.h! Don"t take away the names and ident.i.ties of the people that you are transporting! They have lives, families and heritages to hold up! If it weren"t for this gentleman saving you I would have thrown you to the sharks below!"
Johannes nodded as he pouted. I then turned to the African bodyguard and stood up. Jesus! The guy was double my size in height. I walked up to him and wrapped my arms around him. I heard the shocked sounds of Weston Francois, Baron and Johannes.
For some reason I felt tears fall down my cheeks. I wonder how much this man had suffered to come to this position. I hope that even if it might sound trivial, that this hug would give him some comfort. I felt large arms wrap themselves around me.
After a minute, I backed away to see a tear drop from his eye as he smiled at me revealing perfect white teeth.
"I"m not sure why you did that miss but I appreciate it."
I wiped away my tears and smiled.
"What"s your African name?"
The bodyguard smiled before he said.
"Abrafo."
I smiled. What a pretty name.
"What does it mean in Africa?"
Abrafo smiled before he said.
"Executioner."
My eyes widened before I burst into laughter. He did look like an executioner with his initial scary aura but he was just a soft boi.
I turned to Johannes.
"How many slaves do you have on your s.h.i.+p?"
Johannes coughed before he answered flippantly.
"What would you do if I answered a large number."
I smiled as I replied.
"First I will rip your intestines out and throw them overboard for an appetizer to the sharks. Next I will rip out your b.a.l.l.s and dice them for the main course of the sharks. After that I will throw your discarded body as their dessert. Don"t feel any pressure and just answer."
I heard a melodic laugh fill my ears. I turned to see Abrafo laugh before he cleared his throat. How cute. Johannes chuckled as well before he said.
"You truly are a wonderful woman. Would you like to be my bride?"
Johannes raised his hands as I brought the tip of my sword to his throat once more.
"It was a joke! A joke, d.a.m.n it!"
Johannes scratched his head as his handsome face s.h.i.+ned under the sun. He then looked up at me and just when he was about to talk Abrafo spoke.
"I think that you are misunderstanding something Miss."
"Call me Mila dear."
Abrafo blushed before saying.
"Miss Mil"
"Mila."
Abrafo nodded as he said.
"Mila, our captain is not transporting people to sell. He had actually saved all fifty of us when he bought us from an auction. He has given us proper, clothes, and food. He also has a large home in the states where we all live and work happily."
I turned to look at Johannes as he smiled.
"Abrafo did he ask for your permission to buy you?"
Abrafo shook his head.
"It is not normal for others to buy others. You have the right to yourself. No matter what no one can own you but you. Do you understand?"
Abrafo nodded and smiled as he said.
"Master truly does treat us nicely. He treats us like his family."
I smiled and said.
"That"s good. If he didn"t I would have shot him in the forehead already."
Abrafo chuckled before he said.
"Please don"t do that Mila. You are the first white woman to treat us so nicely."
I nodded.
"Don"t call me white woman. I"m not white and you aren"t black. I"m human and you"re human. We both bleed red, and cry when we are sad. We both came out of mother"s wombs. Address me as you would someone of equal status to you as we are equal."
I watched tears drop down Abrafo"s cheeks as he smiled. I hen turned to Johannes and raised my hand. Johannes flinched. I patted his head and sighed. Johannes looked at me in shock.
"I"m sorry for doubting and accusing you falsely Johannes. Can you forgive me?"
Johannes blushed as his golden eyes rested on my lips. He smirked maliciously as he said.
"I"ll forgive you if you kiss me."
What a lady killer! I rolled my eyes and pecked his cheek.
"There are you happy now?"
Johannes turned beet red to the very tops of his ears as he touched the place on his cheek where I pecked him. He smiled as he opened his mouth.
A second later a sword was pointed at the side of his neck. I turned as I felt a chill down my back. A thunderous Baron looked down at Johannes. Baron"s green eyes were darkened with rage as he looked at Johannes.
"Get the f.u.c.k away from my wife. If you talk to her or simply breathe the same air as her one more time I will cut your head off and feed it to the sharks!"
Johannes trembled as he looked at me with a teary expression pleasing me to save him. I looked at Baron.
"Baron remove your sword. I"m not your wife. I do respect our close relations.h.i.+p but don"t restrict me from talking to my friends."
Baron"s cheeks reddened as he heard the phrase "close relations.h.i.+p". He backed away and cleared his throat. Francois and Weston were laughing and slapping their knees in the background. I smiled as I looked down at Johannes and Abrafo. What a fun crew.
