In the world called The Three Realms, there is a small village called Dynne. Villages like such are quite common in the lower-middle realm.Like how most of them are surrounded by vast forest and prairies nearing lakes or rivers.
Most villages are surrounded by high walls with towers.
Where watchmen are on the lookout for monsters of different races, ranging from small goblins to orcs.
Sometimes if the village is unfortunate, it will meet with a giant from the frozen north mountains, but this is another story from another time.
Our small village, is one that is quite peaceful, well not maybe so peaceful, but this is where our story starts.
With a young girl that just had her coming of age ceremony, her name is Speranza.
She is the village"s number one beauty, with her charming azure blue eyes; her cute fresh tone of voice; her fire-filled hair paired with her lovely temperament as fiery as her scarlet hair.
Speranza"s taste for adventure has always been high as with her desire to explore the vastness of the lands
Sadly, her parents always kept a tight leash on her, the world is filled with monsters, dangers from other humans, and their own kin who aren"t tender enough to even spare their own people.
Some will raid others to gain more land and power; Small villages like hers are often attacked and raided— such raids were happening until this date which is 1090, the year of the Red dragon month of the unicorn.
Today is the first month of spring when snow has melted and wars start anew between the inhabitants of the lower realm.
A young fiery girl stood on a tall vantage point as she looks up toward the incoming Birdmen that have come for pillaging, narrowing her eyes as she gets a fire spell ready.
"Speranza, get over here! Don"t stand on the roof and get down here, let the warriors handle it."
Her mother barked angrily at her, why couldn"t this darn daughter of hers understand that fights with humanoid races are the most dangerous for young girls like her?
What would happen if her little girl got taken by them?
Thinking of it, she shouted again.
"You darn girl will be the death of me!"
Speranza looked at her mother, there is still some time before those bird-brain-men got over to their location.
"Mother, stop shouting or you"ll draw them to us…"
She sighed lightly. Seriously there was no point in hiding, she could see it clearly, those birds had come prepared this time.
"Mother, this time we cannot hide in the usual place. They will likely easily breakthrough the village defences, they have brought too many for just their troop of warriors."
Seriously, they better both fight along each other"s side if they want to stand a chance to stall time until her father returns.
Stepping down from the roof, she gracefully jumped with a feather fall spell.
"They have brought a big force this time. If you wish for us to hide, then we should head to the forest or go underground, either way, if we hide in the house we will still be found out."
Her expression wasn"t so good and looked quite serious. Hearing this, her mother"s face paled as she knew that her daughter had better eyes than most people since her magic blood was strong.
Speranza is what this world would call a sorceress who can draw magic from her bloodline that is normally linked back to a past magical being that had mated with a humanoid such as a dragon or a fey descendant.
Her beauty is without equal and it was popularly believed in the village that Speranza had the bloodline of a nymph.
Her father was also very good looking. His features resembled the one of a high elf, but he clearly had human brown hair, and a cold azure blue eyes.
Sharp lines painted his handsome face and even if he was now more advanced in age, it gave him a n.o.ble air!
Her mother also had a face that could cause ruins to cities and with her red hair pale supple skin, delicate features, and a youthful look at the age of forty with peerless white teeth.
So much that most people in the village did not understand why such beautiful people had chosen their village when those two adventurers had settled down to raise their newborn daughter.
"Speranza, you go and hide in the bas.e.m.e.nt. The house is isolated from the others, we might be their first targets but your father isn"t home yet.
He"s gone hunting with most of the other able men for the goblins that attacked the wheat field farmers…"
Maria"s voice grew lower and overwhelming, this time her daughter was right.
They both couldn"t hide, those birdmen would enter their house and eventually find them and would likely kill them both or kidnap both and the last would be a life worse than death they would be used as::broodmares:: for those creatures.
She only had one choice, draw those creatures away from her little girl! She would be the one that stands and fight, after all, she is an ex-adventurer she had fought before, it wouldn"t be her first time to face such life and death situation.
But that daughter of hers would never hide willingly if she knew that she would fight them, it pained her to admit but her daughter was just like her, refusing to hide behind someone else"s shield!
Especially if it was the one of her mother"s.
"I am sorry Speranza." She gave her a sad smile as she tenderly looked at her most precious achievement.
Speranza knew that something wasn"t right then but she was too slow to react after all her mother did have a lot of battle experience unlike her.
Maria knocked out Speranza with one strike at the back of her neck catching and cradling her down as she went and hide her precious treasure down under the floor trap which leads to a small bas.e.m.e.nt cave even if the house caught fire this place would be unaffected.
But if the entrance was found they could not escape fast enough to outrun those humanoids birds.
"I hope to see you later, Mother loves you." She said as she placed her down placing blankets over her and moved items quickly to hide her with things those birdmen wouldn"t look at if they ever broke into it.
She then moved back to the first floor where she hid the entrance with a rag moving quickly as she could the noises from the birdmen war shouts now. Most of the village was in a panic, women screamed as they ran for cover, children cried for their mother"s.
Maria closed her eyes a moment as she gathered her strength heading toward an old trunk filled with her armour and weapon.
Shoving on her armour quickly taking her weapon to face the onslaught at the same time the door flew open the enemies had made their way to their front door.
Kuwaraw kik "A bird man looking like it had the torso and half a lower body of a man head, arms and lower legs of an eagle said aggressively as it spotted the armour and weapon in the woman hand.
It was clearly treating her to drop her weapon, after all, females could be used for their satisfaction and even if the lady was older her looks were top notch!
The birdman had a l.u.s.tful greedy look in his eyes if it captured a female it would be his to mate and enjoy he wouldn"t let it slip away!
Maria couldn"t help but make her lip twitch in disgust at the l.u.s.tful look that thing gave her.
She was glad she had hidden her treasure away far from their eyes they were not stealing they had come for women!
How could she not understand it was springtime when the most primitive races mated to have their next generation, when the food was easier to find it was a simple way of thinking close to the animals.
No matter what she couldn"t afford to lose this bitter fight.
Charging head down sword drawn toward the birdman she took the initiative of this fight if she could strike hard and first she could win.
The wings had hands allowing those creatures to hold weapon themselves he took out a sword and meet it parrying the blow.
Soon the fight turned in favour of the warrior birdman. he had obviously more endurance than a woman that had stayed home for more than a decade to raise her child.
