Seeing the loving couple Timara followed quietly lowering her head so the daggers in her eyes would not be seen.Entering the pet market, Arkalat looked around for anything that could be both cute and useful, at the very least remotely useful.
But his hope was very soon dashed when he spotted her gaze going straight for a young creature that could be described as a small songbird crossed to an even smaller dinosaur.
The colourful fluffy puffy lizard about as big as a thumb, and obviously it was not his but her"s.
Unable to accept the fact that he was thoroughly defeated by a fluffy bird he facepalmed.
Well, that slave had not lied. Maybe he should reward him...
Girls indeed like useless cute animals… Seeing her bright smile as she teased it making it chip and squeak, she looked at him biting her lip as she noted his grim expression.
However, it soon changed to a dotting one as he meets her gaze.
The small bird-lizard looked like a cross between a bird of paradise and a very small raptor. If it could grow big it could be a good guard but it was highly unlikely…
He looked at her seriously.
"Maybe give the other animals a glance and if you still prefer this bird thing I will get it for you or any other as a matter of facts."
He finger-combed her few fallen hair gently.
Nodding once, Speranza left the little bird alone to look around the cages. Two maids trailed behind her as he talked with the owner of the store about his best beasts.
Even if she did not get a defensive pet he would get one for her for convenience sake.
Male guards could not follow ladies everywhere they would stay longer in more developed towns she would likely have time to make friends with the n.o.blewomen and guard would not follow to those lady quarters.
Even home those men would not be allowed to enter the place where she would live on a normal day. She was relatively safe for now as long as the news did not reach his enemies that he now had a wife...
Once that was known facts some were bound to take chances and make a move.
This is where having a guard pet would be a necessity. He would let her buy wich ever little pet pleased her but he would get at least one good guardian for her.
Her magic had been reduced to a neglectable level if she faced any of his enemies she would suffer a crushing defeat.
He had looked through that holding bag she had he had removed items that could be dangerous to use while not experimented enough to use them properly, as well as, defective items.
Speranza looked at cats, dogs, rabbits and a lot of creatures that she had never seen before.
Some looked like a mixture of other creatures while some looked harmless but bore dangerous fangs…
Spotting a small fey-dragon her eyes grew wide it was a rare creature the price tag likely would be too much but she wanted to see it only to satisfy her inquisitiveness as well as her excitement to view such rare magical creature. After all, a dragon was unprecedented!
Fey-dragons were not the sharpest tools among dragon kin making them ideal pet for wizard and sorcerers. They were smart enough to be considered intelligent as a six or seven-year-old child rarely above that. But this was plenty to make them a fearsome pet to a wizard.
Those fey-dragons also were magic users while not that strong it could prove to be painful to be caught in its magic its small size made it hard to catch and aim at.
"Hey you the girl over there" a voice rang in her head making her look around.
"Come over here" it childishly said.
Moving toward the left it sounded again. "No no wrong way I am over here"
Turning her gaze further down the aisle she spotted another type of dragonkin that was looking straight at her and waved his wings.
Gasps! Placing her hand over her mouth in shock and surprise seeing one was already a lifetime of luck but two was a grace of heaven.
The wife dotting man had not missed her reactions to the dragons and the merchant also viewed how she had lost her cool to those creatures, however, the man buying was not to be trifled with he had brought them before his lady had even seen them!
He had asked for the best guard animals he had two hatchlings of the small type of dragonkin and two larger ones of the mid-small size that could make mounts and he had brought them all!
He had spent about one hundred thousand gold for the bulk of the dragon lot, also he had brought four other hounds that would weight half a tone fully grown and could be used as mounts by tall men"s. He would give those to her guards!
"Hey can you help us?" The palm-sized purple top and back with lavender belly scale baby dragon asked Speranza.
"We are stuck here they are mean to us." it whined. "Can you get us out?"
She looked dejected as she gazed to the small dragon, seeing her silent it continued.
"Pretty please" it begged.
Speranza shook her head dejectedly.
"I understand thank you for your honesty" it said in that same childish voice, it was not stupid it understood that she could not free him nor the others.
Hearing footsteps behind her she gazed up warm arms came around holding her tightly while an impish voice sounded by her right ear.
"What are you so depressed about?
Combing her hair to the side gently to remove the stray mesh that had fallen down.
"Did you not find one or two that you actually fancied?" He then continued to tease her earlobe with his lips and teeth lightly nib on it than turn his attention to the top of her ear tugging at it impishly making her blush deeply. Resuming his questioning.
"Did you not like those two dragon kin"s?"
He asked her as if they were buying bread and b.u.t.ter…
