The younger man greeted the boy and the man that stood in front of the house. They clearly had been practicing martial arts. The boy held a sword made out of strong wood to be as heavy as a real one but blunt to avoid careless injury that could happen if a real one was used.
Young man. "Greetings strangers." The man a tired smile.
Jonathan looked up to him his eyes the man could swear this boy could well see his soul with them.
Bast looked to the man and nodded lightly. Being acknowledged the man spoke.
Strangers, would you mind if we stopped the caravan here for a few days? We have been travelling with relatively no stop for four days, to have enough distance between us and the undead army that is gathering up north.
Bast said in a cold and slightly distant voice. "No problem, slightly down the river there is a rather large clearing. It should have plenty of s.p.a.ce."
The man then added with a small smile "Thank you. You and your family should join us when we leave. The army will reach sooner or later this place. We hope to reach a fortified city before they can catch up, so we can have a fighting chance. With monsters and bandits on the road having more warriors would be a good thing." The man obviously wanted to rope in the what seemed to be father-son pair…
Speranza sat on her chair inside the house, of course, she could hear everything and so did the other girls and that barbarian that stuck to them ever since he had laid eyes on Chie.
Now all of them exchanged a glance weren"t the undead moving a bit to fast? Last time they had gone to look at the miasma they had calculated a good decade or two before it would become a problem!
Speranza gritted her teeth. Dammit, they would have to speed up the preparations!
She was not afraid of the undead army she had G.o.dly items on hand thanks to all the items she had from her parents and Arkalat. But if they weren"t done with the preparation it could go all wrong!
She was now facing a dilemma. Stay or flee the place?
If they moved where would they go? If they stayed a vicious fight was coming to their door!
Standing straight up even knocking her chair off as she stood Speranza looked toward her friends and now family.
"We should go see how bad the situation is. It"s a four-day walk but a flight would be much shorter. I will go and see for myself and be back before the caravan leave." she said in a soft but resolute voice.
Sakura spoke softly as not to be heard from outside but the slight anger she felt could not be masked. "You can not go at night! Are you insane? They are stronger at nightfall and you wish to go alone as if we would let you go? It suicidal mission!"
The others nodded in agreement. In the dark, the undead would hold an advantage the miasma being thicker during the night.
As they conversed Bast and Johnatan entered the house. The caravan was already heading a bit downstream to the large clearing.
Johnathan eyes flashed with a quick light, none of the adults had seen it.
Like his father, the boy was instinct very protective of his mom.
After all, his dad was no longer around to protect his mother, he was a hero in the boy"s heart that had likely perished on the day he was born to save them both.
He quickly cooked up a plan to keep his mother from going he knew she would never agree to let him go voluntarily but he and the young psychic dragon would make the fastest and best combinations he was light and the dragon was fast. He could record in a crystal the situation and his mother wouldn"t need to go at all! This was the best plan!
