Chapter 206 – Parents?
The husband and wife’s att.i.tude was sincere. It seemed like their relations.h.i.+p was already pretty much confirmed.
After Jing Yun Zhao nodded in confirmation, the pair introduced themselves. The man was Jing Tie Jun (景铁军), and the lady was w.a.n.g Xin Fang (王新芳). As for other matters, because their relations.h.i.+p hadn’t been confirmed yet, they didn’t say much.
The two stayed back and spoke a lot, only leaving after about half an hour.
Xiao Hai Qing sighed heavily. She kept having this nagging feeling that something was off.
“Yun Zhao, do you think they really are your biological parents?” she asked. They had lost their appet.i.te, and the food before them was now cold, so she was just using her chopsticks to randomly poke at it.
“We’ll know when the paternity test results come out.” Jing Yun Zhao was also puzzled, her thoughts clouded. After all, everything just happened so fast.
To be able to meet her biological parents when she was just out shopping, and the other party could even recognize her with one glance; it was really hard for her to fathom.
Even so, she was abandoned when she was still an infant. Back then, her eyes hadn’t even opened yet, and babies looked different every day; even if that woman remembered how she had looked, more than a decade had already pa.s.sed. The difference between her then and now was like the difference between heaven and earth. It’s not like the woman had the Monkey King’s Discerning Eyes, how could she be 100% accurate?
What’s more, this jade pendant of hers, because it was linked to her s.p.a.ce, she specially bought a st.u.r.dy necklace to wear it. Usually, she would also not bring it out to show others.
Even though it was summer now, she was still wearing a light blue b.u.t.ton-down s.h.i.+rt that was b.u.t.toned all the way to the top. If she didn’t make any extreme movements, the jade gourd would definitely not show itself. Therefore, it’s impossible for the woman to recognize her by relying on her jade pendant.
Lastly, while the jade gourd looked dull on the surface like some cheap knockoff, could something the Old Ancestor left behind really be of inferior quality?
If this jade was something that Jing Tie Jun bought from the roadside stalls or antique shops, then how do we explain the Old Ancestor’s existence? It couldn’t be that Jing Tie Jun coincidentally bought something the Jing Family lost long ago?
Also, if this jade gourd wasn’t something Jing Tie Jun bought and was instead their Jing Family’s family heirloom, then it would become even harder to explain.
That woman kept repeatedly saying that she was abandoned by the Jing Family’s grandmother. Since the old woman valued males and attached less importance to females, then it was definitely impossible for her to put something as important as the remnants of the Old Ancestor on her granddaughter whose survival was uncertain.
Jing Yun Zhao didn’t mention this point of suspicion, the s.p.a.ce in the jade and the Old Ancestor were both secrets she couldn’t tell anyone after all.
The paternity test results hadn’t even been done yet. When it was released and if she really was their daughter, she would naturally think of a way to clarify things.
The two girls weren’t in the mood to continue shopping anymore after something so chaotic just happened.
After Jing Yun Zhao went home, she made Bai Yu An help her look into matters.
The next morning, she received the news.
Jing Tie Jun and w.a.n.g Xin Fan were both people from a village called s.h.i.+ Chang Village on the borders of Hua Ning County. w.a.n.g Xin Fang’s mother and father-in-law had both pa.s.sed away. Jing Tie Jun was an ordinary labourer, while w.a.n.g Xin Fang was a housewife responsible for farming and taking care of the children.
Jing Yie Jun had four children. According to Bai Yu An’s explanation, this pair of husband and wife had children late in life. Their eldest child was a girl and was lost many years ago. The neighbour couldn’t remember the estimated year, but she should be of similar age to Jing Yun Zhao. After the eldest girl, there were two more daughters, only the last one was a son.
Currently, the Jing’s family of five all relied on the Jing Tie Jun’s meagre income and were struggling to get by.
Jing Yun Zhao didn’t have much fondness towards this pair of husband and wife who claimed to be her parents. It could possibly be due to her suspicions, she kept feeling that it was too strange for everything to happen so coincidentally.
