Chapter 178 – Guarding the Corpse

The man looked very upright and was around 30 years old or so. With tidy clothes and not a hair out of place, he looked very composed and mature. His outer appearance gave off the impression of a gentle and kind-hearted soul, the type to easily attract ladies.

However, he was currently wearing an anxious and enraged expression that made him look a little sinister. When he got closer, they could faintly smell the stench of alcohol on him.

Qin Zhi Xue initially thought that the person sitting with his wife was one of the kids in the district, but when he got a better look, she was a stranger.

Therefore, he deemed her of no importance.

Xiang Jin’s hateful gaze bored into Qin Zhi Xue. She sharply spoke, “You should have gotten the divorce agreement by now, just sign it already. Otherwise, don’t blame me for bringing this to court!”

“You dare?! Xiang Jin, did I indulge you for too long? I’ve been working so hard these past few years, all for the sake of letting you and my mother lead stable lives! Now you dare to bring up divorce? On what basis? Just based on your current state, do you think you’re worthy of me? If it weren’t for the fact that I cherish our old feelings, you’d long have been chased out of my house already! There’s also your mother; I’ve helped you pay such a large sum of money every month, is that still not enough?!” Qin Zhi Xue bellowed.

Only after he finished talking did Qin Zhi Xue notice his wife’s change in appearance.

In the past, whenever he came back home, Xiang Jin would be cooking most of the time. She’d wear loose clothes with her hair and face in a mess. Looking at that appearance made him nauseous.

Compared to other women, Xiang Jin had zero redeeming qualities.

Today, however, she’d applied some light makeup and her hair was put up, looking neat and tidy. She wore a pair of leather shoes and her old business suit. Although the design was old-fas.h.i.+oned, it gave her a kind of hidden appeal when she wore it.

Qin Zhi Xue shook his head. What’s the point in thinking about this? It must be because he’d been too busy lately, so his fatigued mind actually thought that Xiang Jin looked better than in the past.

Xiang Jin had already tasted despair and gone through her toughest times. Qin Zhi Xue’s words weren’t able to arouse her anger. In fact, it made her think that she’d really been blind back then.

“Qin Zhi Xue, your status today is all because of my Xiang family’s wealth, yet you dare stand there and tell me that I only have what I have because I relied on you? Can’t you feel the irony?” Xiang Jin mocked before she continued, “I asked you to come only because I wanted to inform you. Either way, I’m getting this divorce!”

“I don’t want to continue blathering with you, crazy woman! Where’s my mother?!” Qin Zhi Xue glared at her in irritation, completely not believing that she wanted to divorce. He even felt disdainful.

“Your mother? Ah! Thanks to you arriving in time today, if you came a few days later, I reckon you can only retrieve her corpse!” Xiang Jin sneered.

With words like those, Qin Zhi Xue didn’t continue dallying and rushed upstairs.

Xiang Jin wasn’t in a rush either, just waiting downstairs. Watching the anxious look on Qin Zhi Xue, she felt a rush of delight.

When the starving Old Madam saw her son, her tears overflowed and her mouth kept letting out ‘wu wu’ noises. Because her throat was still burning, she didn’t speak a word. However, this soundless complaint was actually more effective, increasing Qin Zhi Xue’s hate for Xiang Jin even more.

Unfortunately for the old woman, Qin Zhi Xue had become used to living well. Seeing his own mother’s sorry figure, he actually felt a touch of contempt.

The filth on her body made him feel disgusted. He was a man, how could he do this kind of thing? (T/N: I think the author means something along the line of bringing her to wash up or serving/feeding her)

Therefore, after pouring a gla.s.s of water for her, Qin Zhi Xue once again went downstairs. Staring at Xiang Jin, he directly lifted his hand——

It seemed as if the air had solidified. Xiang Jin’s pupils constricted instantly, but she faced the situation with a calmness that spoke of acceptance. As long as he made a move, then she’d immediately get someone to witness the injury!

But the situation didn’t move as she thought it would. Before the hand could land on Xiang Jin, Jing Yun Zhao had already rushed towards him with a backhand, “I hate men that hit women the most!”
