Chapter 17
Pang Jing Dong Caught in the Net of Justice
"I"m glad that you have turned mature! To be precise, you have grown smarter!" After pausing a while, Pang Jing Dong continued, "If you accused me of causing the accident to happen, then it should be handled by the traffic police! Hence, you chose to accuse me of obstructing police officers. As a result, I had finally fallen into your hands, is that right?"
Jing Ling Ling"s expression changed as she panicked, "Are you trying to say that you are innocent? I"m a reasonable person…"
Pang Jing Dong interrupted her, "You aren’t human when you’re not reasonable!"
Watching the quarrel between the two, the cops at the side tried to hold their laughs, somehow forgot to deal with the collision.
One of the cops had met Pang Jing Dong before. In his opinion, Pang Jing Dong was straight up a troublemaker. If this kind of person did not commit any serious crime, the cops would avoid interacting with them.
In their eyes, Pang Jing Dong was an ordinary young man who had no special background; he was not a fuerdai.
TL Note: Fuerdai = Rich Second Generation. You can find this term on Wikipedia by googling it (surprisingly).
As the common saying stated, "The bare feet ones are not afraid of the ones wearing shoes."
People nowadays were more afraid of the ruthless ones rather than the ones with power.
It was because the ruthless ones had nothing to lose; as long as they were not scared of death and willing to sacrifice their lives, their opponents would not be willing to waste their time and effort to fight them.
If the ruthless ones were shameless and would not give up easily, these people would basically be undefeatable.
Jing Ling Ling was so mad that her face was alternating between green and purple colors. She took her handcuffs from her waist and put them onto Pang Jing Dong"s hands.
Out of Jing Ling Ling"s expectation, Pang Jing Dong was very cooperative, not showing any sign of resisting.
It was because Pang Jing Dong had clearly a.n.a.lyzed the situation. These cops were on their mission of escorting criminals. If he continued to argue with them, then he would really be obstructing the police. The better option was to obey the cops and explained himself later.
Nowadays, the cops were strictly asked to be cautious with their behaviors. Generally, they would avoid beating up civilians or wrongly accusing anyone. Hence, Pang Jing Dong was not worried about his own safety.
Pang Jing Dong"s prediction was proven valid when one of the cops came up to Jing Ling Ling and said, "We can"t waste any time longer. We should keep moving. We"ll talk about this later after we arrived at our destination!"
"Let me imprison him first!" Upon saying this, Jing Ling Ling dragged Pang Jing Dong to the back of the prisoners" van.
Just as Jing Ling Ling was about to open the rear door, a sound of powerful engine revving was heard from a distance. Not long after, a Kamaz truck was seen coming from another direction of the crossroads, which was driving fast toward them without any sign of slowing down.
"Stop the car! Stop the car!" The few cops who got out from their vehicles recovered from the shock and waved their hands at the Kamaz telling it to slow down.
The Kamaz"s driver was more ruthless than Pang Jing Dong, who rammed straight into the police and Pang Jing Dong"s car. With a loud "bang", the two cars which were initially connected were seen flying away. After continuing for another twenty to thirty meters, the truck finally came to a stop. It was a one-sided collision, as the two cars were completely destroyed while the Kamaz had only lost some of its paint.
The officer who was stuck in the pa.s.senger"s seat of the police car did not manage to get out before the second collision. His bones were completely shattered, with blood splatting outward from the car. The other three cops who ended up throwing themselves sideway to dodge the truck were getting up from the ground and withdrawing their pistols while approaching the Kamaz and yelling, "Get down from the truck now!"
"This isn"t good!" A sudden thought came up to Pang Jing Dong and he immediately pressed Jing Ling Ling who was shocked still from the situation hard onto the ground.
"What are you doing?" Jing Ling Ling tried to break free from Pang Jing Dong"s grasp.
"Don"t make a sound if you want to stay alive!" Pang Jing Dong grabbing firmly onto Jing Ling Ling"s shoulder. It was impossible for Jing Ling Ling to move at all as if Pang Jing Dong"s arms were few tons heavy.
In that instant, few gunshots were heard from the Kamaz and an abandoned building, resulting in few bullet wounds appearing on the three cops" bodies which fell to the ground immediately.
"Murder… They are murdering the cops!" Jing Ling Ling"s face was extremely pale upon witnessing the situation before her. With her trembling hands, she withdrew her pistol and aiming shakingly at the Kamaz.
"Do you know how to shoot?" A sarcastic grin was seen on Pang Jing Dong"s face.
"What… What do you mean? I"m a cop!"
"I didn"t mean to mock you, but the safety pin is still on!"
Jing Ling Ling stared at Pang Jing Dong with a blank face, not sure what to do next.
Pang Jing Dong raised his hands toward Jing Ling Ling, "Open the handcuffs!"
"No way! You"re a suspect!"
"F**k! Still have to do it myself!" Pang Jing Dong stopped asking Jing Ling Ling, and scanned the ground nearby to look for something, and found an iron wire.
Pang Jing Dong straighten the iron wire and inserted it into the handcuff"s hole. With a few tweaks, the handcuff was opened, and the process took less than ten seconds.
Jing Ling Ling stared at him with wide open eyes, "How… How could you… How did you open the handcuffs?"
"I"m always confused why wouldn"t they improve the handcuffs?" After pausing for a brief moment, he turned and asked Jing Ling Ling, "Who"s on the police van?"
"It"s confidential!"
"Just tell me if you want to live!"
"Who on Earth are you?"
"That"s not important. What"s more important is that I can save us both in this situation!"
Jing Ling Ling firmly rejected the suggestion, "Never! I"m a cop; I will arrest them!"
"Do you as a cop know how to open a pair of handcuffs without the key?" Pang Jing Dong let out an icy laugh and continued, "I can do it even if I"m not a criminal. What about the criminals on the van who are far more dangerous? Do you think you can deal with them by yourself?"
Jing Ling Ling lowered her head, looking at the ground with her eyes unfocused. Pang Jing Dong saw two lines of tears sliding down from her eyes turning into two teardrops which dropped onto the ground and were soon buried by the surrounding dust.
Pang Jing Dong calmed his tone down and said to Jing Ling Ling, "Do you think that I am willing to let people know I knew how to open handcuffs? Or fire a pistol? I"m just an ordrinary person. I didn"t want to be involved in this situation, but I do want to stay alive. Hence, I"m left with no other choice!"
Jing Ling Ling was stunned for a while before saying, "The prisoner inside was… A few days ago, there were three robbers robbing the bank. The police killed two of them on the spot and arrested their leader. He was now proven guilty by the Procuratorate, and we are escorting him back to the prison." She halted her sentence before asking, "Could it possibly be a prison raid?"
"That"s a possibility. It"s easier to execute the attack on the road than doing it at the jail."
As the two were discussing, two men came down from the Kamaz armed with rifles and cautiously walked toward the cops who sacrificed their lives.
