"Babe, we"re here," Damien called out softly tapping his girlfriend"s head, "our last stop."Regan opened her eyes smiling at Damien, "you brought everything?"
"Hmm, all in the back," Damien grinned.
"Good," Regan smiled, booping Damien"s nose. She reached behind and peeked at the contents in a black bag.
Damien watched her a shadow of sadness on his face, "you don"t have to do this. I was the reason why she died so I should do this, ever since then you are in this state of depression hurrying to get things done as if you"re running out of ti-"
Regan placed her hand on Damien"s lips stopping him, "I have to close the link Dammy, this is the least I can do." Regan swung the bag over her shoulder and stared in Damien"s eyes, "wait for me ok? I love you."
Damien smiled as she gave him a goodbye kiss and then walked out of the car, closing the door behind her.
Regan walked into the building every step a reminder of how heavy this weight was on her shoulders, how much she yearned to regret everything but couldn"t. Every step a reminder of the last person she had been here with.
"Go right up, she"s meeting someone right now but will be out in a jiffy," the receptionist smiled.
Regan grinned, "so happy to quit today right? Your trip out of this state must be so long-awaited."
"You bet," the receptionist laughed, packing up her desk, "I"m clocking out for good in 40 minutes."
Regan chuckled, then turned around and walked up the stairs to her therapist"s room. She looked at the sign on the door "Doc. Layla" and pushed away every thought of hesitation and opened the door.
"Regan!" Doc. Layla called out, her eyes brightening even further as she noticed her favorite patient walk in, "you"re here earlier than expected."
"Ah, yes," Regan smiled sitting down on the couch. Her smile faded when she saw who her therapist"s visitor was. Officer Gradis huh? Well, aren"t you lucky? She muttered to herself putting on a smile as she locked eyes with the policewoman sitting at Layla"s desk.
"h.e.l.lo," the policewoman greeted, her smile so bright it almost brought a hint of guilt to Regan.
"Hi," Regan smiled back, her cheeks hurting from the number of grins she had given today. She watched the two ladies converse for a bit noticing the friendliness between them, "ahem! Would you like me to make some coffee?" She asked.
"Ah! It"s been an hour since my last cup so sure," Doc. Layla laughed, she turned to her friend, "would you like some too?"
"Don"t mind if I do!" Officer Gradis grinned.
