SPIDERWEB

Chapter 2

The therapist stood up and walked to the Grandfather clock dragging her chair behind her. After taking a seat beside the grandfather clock she looked at Regan and urged her over.

Regan reluctantly took her chair and sat on it in front of the table in the middle of the room then she took 3 deep breaths and looked up to the therapist.

"My name is Mrs. Layla your therapist for today, nice to meet you Regan," Mrs. Layla relayed a gentle smile towards Regan, "today will be your first therapy session and hopefully last! There is no time limit with you today and I am hoping we can figure out this issue of yours ok?"

Regan nodded a yes.

"Ok, so let us begin with a backstory shall we? Do you mind telling me what happened or how this issue started?"

Regan laid back in her chair and let her memories flip through many files to find the correct one. One that was taken just a few weeks ago but incomplete like a book with multiple pages ripped out in the middle. Slowly she let her body slip back to the time… a nice warm sunday afternoon… flowing water… the taste of fish… blood.

It was finally the day that Regan got to spend time with her friend Ella had arrived. Ever since she went to another school, they never got the chance to see each other but their friendship bond was still unbreakable.

"You have everything?" Ella asked Regan as she loaded the booth up with luggage.

"Sunscreen, food, tents, clothes…" Regan read out loud as she goes through a checklist of items they needed for the camping trip, "looks like we got everything."

"Good!" Ella grinned as she slammed the booth of the car closed. Then loudly slapped her hands on the car, a signal for the person in the driver"s seat, "we"re ready Damien."

"Yes ma"am," Damien replied with a chuckle.

"Let"s go!" Ella yelled as she playfully slapped Regan across her back.

Regan laughed along with Damien. Though it was unfortunate Bella couldn"t make it because of her musical practice, it was nice to spend time with Ella. The familiar feeling of happiness flowed through her as Ella shoved her into the backseat and jumped in after her, resting her head on her shoulder.

"I missed you," Ella whispered.

"Me too," Regan replied.

"Sooooo," Ella began a sparkle rising in her eyes.

"Let"s go have some fun!" Regan shouted, completing Ella"s sentence.

"You bet girls," Damien grinned, he too had missed this feeling. Though he was 4 years older than the two, both of them were his closest friends. Having to spend more time with them was the best thing on the planet to him.

With the girls in the backseat and Damien in the driver"s seat, the three friends blasted music from their radio as they drove to the camping spot.

A few hours later, the girls had hoa.r.s.e voices from singing too much, and they had finally arrived at the camping spot. Regan got out and began to look around. The sky had turned a pretty scarlet color, the light bouncing off the leaves and giving the leaves a reddish gold glow. This spot was one of a kind. A river flowed right in front of them weaving through the forest as far as the eye could see and small and large rocks ran around the edges of the river. The ground had a soft but dry soil and the little white pebbles in the ground gave the place an enchanted feel. Gra.s.s covered the whole ground, short sprouts of gra.s.s covered most of the ground but longer thinner sprouts lined the river. The best of it was that it was a secluded camping spot, hidden by the large trees surrounding it.

"Where did you find a good spot such as this Damien?" Ella asked, reading Regan"s mind.

"Yea, where did you find this spot? I remember driving past here whenever my family went on long road trips, but I never noticed this," Regan added.

"I was taking a stroll after a long drive and wandered upon this place," Damien replied, helping Ella remove the tents from the booth.

"Just how much free time do college students have?" Regan giggled.

Damien leaned in close and whispered in her ear, "too much.. Why? you wanna spend it?"

Regan pushed Damien away with a chuckle and sarcastically replied, "sure Mr. Playboy I"d love to become one of your chess pieces."

Ella burst into laughter as she watched the scene.

The three of them spend the rest of their time unpacking their luggage and setting up the tents and soon night fell. A single wind blew through the forest calmly rocking their sleeping tent. Regan and Ella laid underneath the tiny roof while Damien slept in the cars. Sleep was a factor that was long awaited in the girls long day and it was the bridge into tomorrow"s fun so it was expected that upon setting up everything, the group of friends snuggled up and fell asleep under the stars.
