I wake up after finishing with the corpse spider with a stronger body, and a sea of two strong poisons that are more tolerant of each other. I quickly grab my main body, and return to the spider cave. I am tired mentally after my ambush of the spider, but it"s safe now for my main body. I made sure to be discreet.
I swallowed my main body. I tunneled, and slithered back. I made sure to collapse the tunnels behind myself.
I allow my main body to devour the sider"s soul. It"s the most complete soul I"ve encountered. I carefully use my soul to form threads, and pull the soul towards the baby.
It"s eaten with the soul with no issue. It"s tasty to say the least to eat such strong soul. I need time before it"s fully digested by the baby though.
My main body sits in sea of poison again. It is unaffected by corrosion from the poison, but the runes on its seed coat being to shine. It slowly absorbs the dark green poison into its body, and returns any of the undead poison it absorbs.
The dark green poison has absorbed manny poisons from the corpse sider"s body. I watch this happen for a while until I make sure my main body is safe.
This cycle seems to strengthen , and refine both of my bodies. The runes glow stronger as on my seed coat. I think I found a good nutrient for my main body. It seems corpse poison is necessary for me to grow.
In my excitement, I almost forgot that the prey outside was captured by corpse spider was still living mostly.
I use my soul to examine them, and am shocked to find that a centipede, toad, and scorpion all trapped in different rooms. At first I only quickly looked at their aura, and saw they were near death, and wrapped in side web.
I did not pay them second thought. The aura of death is something I"ve grown familiar with. The spider was only missing a snake ironically to have "five poisons". There was a old folk lore I remember that said if you drank wine that contained the great five poisons, you would be granted poisons immunity, if you lived that is.
I read too many fantasy novels in my past life. A lonley kid in a libary learns a few things. I am shocked I was able to remember that. It seems memories are more easy to recall when I focus on certain things.
I have all I need for the ancient recipe. Spider Corpse venom , Snake Corpse poison, Centipede Venom, toad poison gland, and scorpion poison gland. I am happy to have them all, but I am not sure it will work.
I begin with the green jade like scorpion"s poison gland. It"s too weak to resist. I eat it alive. The scorpion soul is added right into the baby"s mouth. The scorpion poison enters my core. I begin to eat the rest of the scorpion alive with my second body.
The corpse wine gains the aura of the scorpion after I finish, along with the aura of the spider. The mana I"ve absorbed is added to main body to restore my reserves.
The scorpions soul holds memories of a basic story of living in the miasma filled underground. It"s a dog eat dog world, but I learn how to use a stinger like the scorpion. Where to best stab an an opponent. I gain mostly fighting experience along with a larger portion of my mental map being filled.
The scorpion seems to live in dark arid area of the cave. That area of the cave seems to cover a large area of undergoing s.p.a.ce.
The spider seemd to travel around the cave in search of different poisons. The centipede was here before the scorpion I learned from the memoires of the scorpion. The lifespan of these creatures seems to be longer if they form a core. They also seem less reliant on traditional food sources after foaming a core. The spider corpse kept them starved.
It seemed to be somewhat intelligent in making sure they did not die. The manna here is pretty decent, but they haven"t eaten real food in forever. The centipede was also weak, and unable to defend itself. The centipedes body was rather large, but I devoured it in time.
The centipede was also a soul is easy devour. It"s memories are clearer the scorpion. It fed mostly on local plants. It"s knowledge of poison plants in the area may come in handy. The corpse gra.s.s I ate turns out to be a rare plant. It"s also important to note that the centipede toxicity was the reason the spider left it to wait. It had tired to eat the centipede before, and failed due to its inability to handle it"s toxins.
The spider may have died trying to increase it"s toxin resistance. The other creatures trapped here all seem to be the same. Things it could not eat. Aura of the centipede was soon added to the corpse wine.
The seed helps me refine the poison of the centipede. The plant based poisons, and wood like nature of its body help fill a good portion of my reserves, and manna in my core. It"s soul also contains lots of dog eat dog world memories, but it"s omnivore status is rather interesting though.
I can read it"s memories, but absorbing it"s soul will take time. The toad is left for last. It"s body is not as weak as the others. It seems to be struggling. I think it may have been the last captured.
It"s body is filled with injuries, and a good amount of spider venom. It seems to cause paralysis, and a weaker state over time. I slither over, and finished the job by devouring it"s head. The toad stops moving.
It"s soul is devoured, and it"s memories are similar to the rest. I learn about it"s underground cavernous bodies of water that hold alot of life. I also find out it"s main diet was poisonous insects.
There are many new life forms I learn about. These frogs were very clear on what can and can not be eaten. These rules should not affect me since my poison resistance is off the charts, but its still interesting to learn about them.
All of them were captured due to being the strongest of their area, but being weaker than the corpse spider. It"s their poison that makes them strong. They were slowly being siphoned of their poison. In small doses the spider was hoping to build resistance. It"s only flaw was it also ate many other types of poisonous it found. These poisons are all treasures to me now, but to the spider they were like eating before a meal. It had no room to absorb strong posiosns when it was fighting the inblance of the weak.
I take my absorbed poisons and slowly fuse them into my corpse worm core. The combination of so many poisons has created a balance of sorts. I slowly add different poisones at times from leftover spider corpse poison mix while maintaining guard against any would be invaders.
The mix of poison, and spider aura left in the den should keep me safe for now. My core acts like the spider body holding in all the the potions in. They are slowly absorbed into my corpse wine. The strength of it grows more as time pa.s.ses. Like the spider, I use these treasures to refine my corpse wine. The process is draining, but with my soul working to control, and monitor it.
The process continues for some time without much fuss. I begin to lose consciousness as the process is completed. My main body remains in this poison soup with runes growing brighter, and more complex. It too soon loses consciousness as well
