"Do you really not want me calling a.s.sistant Hibiki over?" Kaede asked for the third time. She was standing outside the lobby with her Missus.Tsubaki nodded. She looked at the screen, her ride would arrive in 5 minutes. "We don"t have to bother him. It"s just a short journey. Plus, I"ve already booked a ride. I couldn"t possibly cancel it."
"But..."
Kaede hesitated. She remembered what her Master had said earlier. He had emphasised that if they want to go anywhere else, they should contact a.s.sistant Hibiki. What if something bad happened because she didn"t follow his instructions? She still remembered her Master"s dark face when her Missus got caught in a killing attempt the other day. For sure she would be tossed inside a cage full of hungry dogs if that were to happen.
Yeah, yeah. She was exaggerating but she should be thinking for her own safety too, right? This was the first time their Master was so head over heels over someone, so they knew they needed to be cautious with their treatment towards their Missus.
"It"s here! Come!"
Tsubaki grabbed Kaede"s wrist and led her towards a white car that had just pulled over near them. Kaede helplessly glanced behind. She noticed her colleagues who were eyeing them from far. Both of them looked stoic yet she knew they were trying to hold back their laughter.
Both of them got inside the car. In just a few minutes, the car entered an expressway heading to the center of the capital. The traffic was good. It didn"t take them long to arrive Fuse Corporation building.
Kaede led Tsubaki inside the lobby. The place was almost vacant because lunch hour had already started. The company had a cafeteria located on the ground floor. Its interior and the dishes cooked by the chefs there could even rival a good restaurant"s. Even though the dishes weren"t on par with Three Michelin stars cuisines, they were delicious and full of nutrients.
While most of the employees ate at the cafeteria, some of them opted for lunch outside too. It was a precious break time. They went in groups and had a good time having lunch. Having a proper break was essential if the company wanted their employees remained being productive.
Tsubaki declined Kaede"s company when she was waiting for the elevator. "Go and have lunch. Nothing could happen to me here. It"s safe."
"But..."
"Go. I"m just going to my husband"s office. What could possibly happen there?" Tsubaki pushed Kaede towards the cafeteria. When the latter remained hesitant, she laughed. "Just go! Or do you want to be a light bulb?"
"No, Missus. I"m sorry." Kaede immediately apologised and directly went to the cafeteria.
Tsubaki shook her head, looking amused. She was glad because Kaede wasn"t as stiff as Ren"s other bodyguards. That girl was so cheerful actually. She felt like having a little sister beside her. The elevator doors opened and Tsubaki quickly stepped inside. Since most of the employees were having lunch, the top floor must be empty too, right?
The elevator ride only took seconds before she finally arrived at Ren"s floor. She peered outside and smiled in relief when she didn"t see anyone. Ever since the first time she came to this company few weeks ago, Tsubaki knew she had attracted unnecessary attention from her husband"s subordinates.
Tsubaki went directly to Ren"s office. As she wanted to knock on the door, the door was opened from the inside. Matsuzaki"s tall figure appeared in front of her. He was startled before regaining his composure.
"Madam!"
"h.e.l.lo, a.s.sistant Matsuzaki," Tsubaki greeted him with a smile. "I"m sorry for coming unannounced, but is Ren inside?"
"Pardon, Madam. Master is having a meeting with President Esumi in the meeting room. Should I inform him about your arrival?"
"No, there"s no need." Tsubaki instantly declined Matsuzaki"s offer. She understood that if Ren knew she was here, he would shortened the meeting time. She didn"t want to interfere with his job. "I"ll just wait inside, may I?"
Even though it was her husband"s office, she knew there were lots of confidential doc.u.ments inside. She had came here without him knowing, for sure she shouldn"t act recklessly, right?
"Yes, you may. Do you need anything, Madam?"
Matsuzaki opened the door wider and escorted Tsubaki inside the President"s office. She glanced around while shaking her head.
"Has Ren eaten lunch? Or the meeting has just started?" Concern lingered in her voice.
"The president hasn"t eaten. He hasn"t ask for a meal to be prepared once the meeting is over either. Do you want me to prepare something for the president and for yourself, Madam?"
Matsuzaki had just met his new Missus for a few times yet he knew how she cared for his Master"s well being. This lady before him wasn"t as sophisticated as the young misses of wealthy families but she gave off the aura of someone pleasing to be with. He had already witnessed how his Master regarded his wife. His Master was a cold and aloof man but even with the mentioned of Madam"s name, the frost layers in his eyes would cracked and a tender smile could be seen on his handsome face.
"Please prepare two sets of lunch, then. Something nutritious. I believe you know which one to be picked." Tsubaki said after thinking for a moment.
"Yes, Madam. Please wait here."
Matsuzaki left immediately. He thought if his Madam didn"t come, maybe two slices of sandwiches would be his Master"s lunch again. That man was so stubborn. He rarely took a break even when he wasn"t busy. He should be thankful that his wife was a caring and considerate woman.
Tsubaki didn"t take a seat even after Matsuzaki left. She walked around and peered at every single object she could find inside her husband"s office. She didn"t touch anything for fear disturbing the items. There wasn"t any attractive object here.
This office... was so dull. It lacked the vibrant energy. If she had to work within this kind of environment, it won"t take her long before feeling depressed.
Tsubaki then walked to the working table. All the doc.u.ments were organized neatly. There wasn"t a single thing left out of place there. At least her husband wasn"t a messy person. While admiring her husband silently, she noticed there was a frame on the table. She took it. Her smile widened.

It was a picture of the two of them, walking hand-in-hand in Grandma"s garden. Apparently someone else took it and gave it to Ren. It might be Old Yuuzo, or Grandma herself. They were both laughing over something when the picture was taken. She could still remember the happiness she felt back then.
Her heart felt warm.
Suddenly the door was opened from the outside. Tsubaki looked up from the photo. Her yes met his dark gaze, his face brightening at the sight of her. She instinctively smiled. Placing the frame back on the table, she ran to him.
