Ren reluctantly pulled away from Tsubaki when a call from Matsuzaki arrived. He was panicked as he had already heard of what happened from Hibiki.

"So... you"re not coming for the meeting?" a.s.sistant Matsuzaki broke in a cold sweat as he asked the question.

"Postpone it." Ren didn"t care that Matsuzaki had almost yelled out due to frustration.

Tsubaki frowned hearing his answer. Touching his arm, she gently said, "You should go. I"m safe here. They are waiting for you, right?"

Matsuzaki could hear his lady boss" voice and felt his almost shattered hope going up. Yes, boss! Listen to your wife!

Ren thought for a moment before giving his final decision. "Delay it for one hour. Send my laptop and the required doc.u.ments here. I"d do a video conference."

"Yes, boss!"

A video conference was much better than postponing it to another date!

Tsubaki still felt that Ren should go to the company instead of doing the video conference but she ended up didn"t say anything. She needed to compromise, for the sake of both of them. She herself witnessed his fear earlier. She knew it was cruel to continue coaxing him to leave the hospital.

a.s.sistant Matsuzaki arrived with the laptop and doc.u.ments. He greeted his lady boss before went straight to work. He was still shocked when Hibiki said their boss had gotten married to the mysterious lady the other day but he hid it well. Ren set them on the coffee table. He sat on the couch placed close to the wall.

"Just focus on your work." Tsubaki smiled when Ren was looking worriedly at her. "I"ll rest in bed."

A faint smile ghosted his face. Matsuzaki returned to the company as he was needed to be the mediator in the absence of Ren. The meeting started with all the key members presented in the meeting room.

Ren donned his usual cold mask in front of his employees, making Tsubaki amazed with his charisma. He exuded charm, the one that couldn"t be faked. He talked in a curt manner but it was enough to present his capabilities.

As the meeting progressed smoothly and had coming to its end, one of the directors finally asked Ren about the occasion that needed him to make a video conference in the hospital. They could see the hospital logo on the wall behind Ren.

"Are you feeling unwell? Chief a.s.sistant Matsuzaki didn"t tell us anything." The director continued to ask. They were wondering because their president didn"t look sick.

Tsubaki was pouring the water into a mug when she heard the questions. As Ren didn"t drink even a sip of water since the meeting started, she felt bad for him. She forgot to prepare him a drink earlier, even though it was usually Matsuzaki"s job.

"My wife got injured," Ren replied without thinking the huge impact that his words had on his employees.

"Wh... what?" The director stuttered.

All the people in the meeting room were shocked hearing the statement. They looked at each other before each of them stared at Matsuzaki. Their eyes clearly asking the same question.

Since when did our boss get married?

Back in the hospital room, Ren noticed that Tsubaki was walking toward him with a mug between her hands. Seeing her dragging one of her feet due to the sprain, he frowned.

"What are you doing? You should just rest." Even with a frown, his voice was gentle as ever thus earning incredulous looks from the people in the meeting room.

Our boss... where did his iced chilling voice go?

"You haven"t drink anything." Tsubaki replied. "Aren"t you thirsty?"

Ren inevitably smiled, his cold features softening when he looked at her. He quickly stood up, leaving the directors curious with what they were seeing.

Our boss smiled!

"You don"t have to do this." Ren supported her waist while one hand taking the mug from her. "Still, thank you dear."

Ren led Tsubaki back to bed. After tucking her in, he returned to sit in front of his laptop. Seeing the directors were in a daze, he knitted his eyebrows.

As for the directors and Matsuzaki, even though it was faint but they could still hear the conversation between their president with the mysterious lady. They could clearly hear how caring their boss was to her!

"Focus!" Ren spoke with a colder voice.

"Ye... yes!"

"Show me the complete report by tomorrow. Send them to Matsuzaki. I won"t tolerate any delay."

Without waiting for their response, Ren closed his laptop. He took off his jacket and hung it on the couch. Loosening his tie, he went to the bed.

"Are you done, Mr. President?"

Ren chuckled. He kicked off his shoes before lying next to his wife. Wrapping his arms around her, he buried his face in her hair. Her sweet scent helped in calming him.

"I just want to hug you. The old men just kept piling me up with work." He complained.

Tsubaki laughed hearing his childish complain. She placed her arms around his slender waist, leaning against his chest. She gradually felt comfortable to be closed to him like this.

"Don"t complain. You said you want to earn money for me." Her remark brought laughter to his lips.

Ren rubbed his nose against hers. "Right, I shouldn"t. I don"t want you to go find another earner better than me."

"Don"t worry." Tsubaki giggled. She looked straight into his dark eyes. Her soft voice whispered words to him. "When things are hard, you could find me. As you"re always here for me, I"d do the same to you. You could even show me your vulnerable side if you"re tired with all the act."

Hearing his beloved saying that, it thawed the deepest part of his cold heart. Her eyes twinkling so brightly, sinking him in them but he didn"t feel suffocated. He felt whole.

Smiling, he leaned closer to her face. Closer and closer.
