Chapter 765
A s.p.a.cecraft slowly landed on the ground. Once the ship landed, Rocket and Nebula immediately walked down to the base.
“Hey, what’s up!” Tony said as he carried some equipment in front of Thor. The Time Travel experiment would be conducted today, and thus, everyone had gathered except for Carol, who still had some business in the other part of the universe.
“Hey, what’s up, crazy racc.o.o.n!” Tony said teasingly.
“It’s Rocket! Quit teasing me! You are supposed to be the genius of Earth!” Rocket annoyedly said as he hauled his equipment towards a table in the corner.
………………
“Hey, be careful with that!” Scott yelled as he saw the Hulk stretching the new Time Travel Suit.
“I am very careful with it!” The Hulk said aggravatedly.
“No, you are being sloppy!” Scott said as he tried to stop the Hulk.
“Relax, I am very careful!” The Hulk said annoyedly.
“We only have enough Pym Particles for the mission! Since Hank Pym has disappeared, no one can make this again!” Scott said nervously.
“Calm down, Scott!” Dio said as he noticed Scott was being nervous. “We have enough Pym Particle in our hands for each of us to go back and forth once. We even have spare that we can use on the experiment that we are about to do.” Dio said carefully, but as he said so, Scott shrank down and disappeared before appearing again at the same spot.
“Well, now we only have one chance!” Scott said with an awkward smile on his face. Dio facepalmed himself as he felt helpless for Scott.
“Okay, I am nervous! I didn’t do it intentionally!” Scott said as he took a deep breath to calm himself.
“Scott, don’t force yourself! If you don’t think you are up for this, I can swap with you!” Dio said rea.s.suringly. Although the test was dangerous and there was chance that an unexpected accident might happen, it was better than Scott wasting the remaining test opportunity!
“I am ready! Let me test it first!” Barton said as he came out of nowhere.
Seeing the confidence in Barton’s eyes, Dio knew that there was no better candidate than him. So, Dio nodded and called for subst.i.tution. With that said, Barton put on his Time Travel suit without any question.
“Clint, the Time Travel would make you a little confused, and it would be uncomfortable, but bear with it!” The Hulk explained as he checked Barton’s equipment. Barton immediately nodded as he understood it clearly.
“Hey, I have a question! If we can go back into the s.p.a.ce, why don’t we just solve the problem from its root?” Rhodey asked curiously. He wasn’t in the loop as he arrived just today.
“We can’t do that because changing the past doesn’t change the future!” Shuri said casually.
“Why? That is not what I heard!” Rhodey muttered softly.
“Who told you that?” The Hulk asked softly.
“Star Trek, Terminator, s.p.a.ce Patrol, Back to the Future?” Rhodey said as he listed every movie he watched that contained time travel. “Well, basically, all these movies said that changing the past would also change the future!” Rhodey said confusedly.
“Well, it was just a movie, Rhodey! It doesn’t mean that they are correct!” The Hulk said helplessly.
“If you think about it, if you go to the past, then that past would become your future, and your future would become your past! This past will not change as it would become your new future!” Nebula said as she explained her point of view to Rhodey.
“So, the plot in Back to the Future is full of holes?” Scott said with a frown on his face.
“Obviously!” Nebula said with a weird expression.
Dio was a little bit surprised by Nebula’s theory, but he kept his composure as he had a question of his own.
“So, according to the theory, then what happened in the past wouldn’t affect the current timeline, right? So, let’s just say that we succeed in our endeavor, and we take all the Infinity Stones from the past. Then, in turn, the Infinity Stones that should exist in the past wouldn’t exist anymore, right? What will happen then?” Dio asked curiously.
The Hulk and Shuri immediately groaned as they heard Dio’s question and racked their brains for an answer that would satisfy everyone.
“Remember that parallel universe existed, so if we influence the past by going back to the past, then at that moment, there would be a branch of time leading to an unknown future from that past! That in itself, it would become a new independent parallel universe! In that universe, there would be no Infinity Stones left, and this catastrophe wouldn’t happen!” Hulk said as he made some inference that surprised everyone.
“That’s right! But if we fix the past back to what it’s supposed to be, then the new time branch would disappear, and the parallel world wouldn’t exist!” Shuri added.
“But this is only a theory, a mere speculation if you will! What exactly happens won’t be so clear. After all, the mystery of time isn’t that simple.” Hulk said carefully. Dio was satisfied with this explanation. He remembered that not even the Ancient One could find the truth of time despite already living for a long time!
But still, Dio felt that their statement was a little bit too loose. Was it really okay just to return things to make sure that the parallel universe didn’t manifest? Once they travelled back in time, they would certainly cause an unavoidable effect that couldn’t be reversed again! With that said, Hulk and Shuri’s statement might not be wrong, but they weren’t completely correct either!
If Dio might say, returning the Infinity Stones would only mitigate some of the impacts they would cause instead of reverting it back to normal. So, if their mission succeeded, Dio wondered how many parallel universes would they end up creating? What effect did it have on the original world later?
If Dio kept speculating with his thought, there were still so many unknown variables with their mission!
