Surrounded by about 20 arachnids and other monsters that started swarming towards them the elver"s faces were all looking grim, except for the elver named Amy, that had a expexting smile on her face and was looking at the outsider that had just saved her life."Immediate contact, 2 arachnid queens, 10 lesser contacts. Eliminating hostiles."
Eva looked at the outsider with disbelief as he spoke out a report in perfect elvish as his eyepatch lit up in a cold red light, and then he disappeared from sight.
(Young adult queen, hight a bit over 4 meters… And that most mean about 80mm of armored exoskeleton.)
Estimating the closest arachnids defenses Dax took full advantage of the extensive gravitational adjustment training he had done over the last half year as he closed the range before anyone else present noticed.
(Density is about the same as mid grade steel alloy, and in the shape like that the resonant frequency should be around this..)
Doing rough calculations on the structure of the arachnids sh.e.l.l Dax calculated the natural frequency as he hit it with that specific force and turned the arachnid queens armored exoskeleton into a offensive weapon against itself as the sh.e.l.l vibrated like a gla.s.s of water in front of a high powered speaker, coursing extreme internal trauma to the soft tissue below, making the queen collapse as a b.l.o.o.d.y mess as it instantly died from internal bleeding. Quickly moving on Dax grabbed the arachnid queen"s copse by one of it"s legs and used the copse as a club and smashed the other arachnid queen like the bug it was.
"Next."
Beconning the next arachnid closer with a casual wave it"s limited intelligence didn"t allow it to a.s.ses Dax"s strength and met its demise in the form of a solid kick to the face. Becoming a blur once more Dax appeared next to the closest arachnid and slammed it with a haymaker that ripped directly through the arachnids trick mandibles and fragmented the exoskeleton that covered its sensitive braincase.
"Eww, gross."
Shaking graymatter juice of his knuckles Dax decided not to get his hand more sticky and then started using kicks to kill the rest of the monsters.
"Come on buddy~"
Bouncing around like a veteran kickboxer Dax waited for a large gorilla like monster to enter his range before using it as a projectile as he launched it towards a large ant like monster, killing 2 birds with one of the birds itself.
"Come on! Move or die blondy!"
"I-I know! Let"s move out!"
Snapping Eva and the other elvers out of their collective daze Dax created a path for them all as they broke contact with the nearby monsters and escaped the encirclement.
"Contact rear!"
"We"ve noticed!"
"Then do something about it unless you want to die!"
Taking control somewhat forcefully of the entire situation Dax issued a series of sharp commands without even looking back as he cleared out the monsters in front of them. Fighting for another hour or so they got the last of the monsters off their tail without having to abandon any injured personal.
---
"Now for your side of the bargain."
After getting away from the monsters Dax sat down on the ground with a disapproving look on his face as he started expecting something from the elven soldiers, and after a second of confusion Amy seemed to remember something as she grabbed some rations out of Eva"s pouch without asking and gave them to Dax as she sat down opposite him.
"Here you are."
"Thanks. Now let"s look at your arm."
Stuffing his own face with 3 days of rations Dax then turned serious as he started examining Amy"s arm with his own remaining one.
"Do you feel this?"
Poking what remained of Amy"s forearm gently with his finger Dax checked the condition of her remaining nerves.
"Yeah I feel it just fine.. Does that me-"
"It does~"
"Yay~"
With a blooming smile on her face Amy hugged Dax that akwadly started patting her on the back to get her to let go.
"Okay what is going on Amy!?"
Understandably confused at the entire situation Eva stopped her other subordinates from trying to tear Dax apart as she demanded an explanation from Amy.
"He will heal my arm in exchange for fair treatment and compensation when we arrive at the capital."
"Compensation? What kind?"
"You took a weapon from me, I take a weapon from you. Simple right?"
"A weapon? Ah that one, so the dragon killer indeed did its work."
Thinking back to to what weapon they had taken from the outsider, Eva could only think of the mysterious creature that attacked them from the sky.
"Then we will do that. You will answer our questions when we reach the capital."
Eva only agreed to those terms because she was absolutely sure they could not match him in direct combat. After showing his full strength when helping them break away from the monsters Eva was sure Dax was hiding much of his true potential but was unsure why, and therefore chose to go along with him for the protection he could offer her and her forces until they returned to the capital. As Eva was agreeing with Dax"s proposal one of the elvers in the background was silently cursing in such a low voice not even Dax could hear him.
"Ridiculous! He and that b.i.t.c.h of a commander will pay for this when my father hears of it."
Clutching his broken hand in pure rage that he perfectly hid as an expert son of a politician he was.
Spending the next 2 weeks moving through dense forest with relative ease Dax and the elven soldiers finally reached a small elven village. Small houses constructed out of nature itself that looked to Dax like small and thick trees with functioning doors where arranged in a loose circle around a central plaza in the middle of the dense and lush forest that was surrounded by some sort of magic barrier that keep monsters away from the area. As they entered the barrier they were immediately surrounded by curious children that looked with questioning eyes at the outsider they had never seen before, even some of the adults couldn"t stop looking at the strange dark skinned, one armed, 2 meter high, single eyed Dax that met their looks with a warm smile.
"We"ll sleep here for tonight, I"ll go inform the elder."
Leaving with those words as they had reached the plaza, Eva entered the largest home and made her way to the back before reaching a special room that could only be described as some sort of luxurious bedroom covered in different coloured embroidered fabrics and kneeled down.
"Village elder."
"What is it?"
After a short break a dignified woman"s voice spoke out in a lazy manner.
"I am Eva Greenfield of the 16th border control force returning with an outsider to the capital."
"Ohh? Why haven"t you killed that outsider?"
"The outsider knows about the recent explosion that removed a large part of the northern forest and shuck the ground half a moon ago."
"..."
Being met with silence for about a minute Eva didn"t even think to raise her head and then started hearing the sounds of clothing being put on before the elder spoke again.
"Let"s go look at that outsider then."
"Eh-"
"I will not allow any dangerous beings to stay in this village, as such I will speak to the outsider myself."
"Are you su-"
"I am always sure, if the outsider poses a threat I will remove them from existence. What are you waiting for? Follow me."
"Y-yes elder."
Only after the elder had pa.s.sed by Eva did she even think about raising her head, but only did so after she was directed to do so by the elder.
