The normally small mayor"s office had suddenly become even smaller with the sudden addition of Lilly. After a initial outburst of opinions the room had turned mostly quiet while the two parties discussed their approach among themselves in hushed voices.

"Lilly back off, we"ve already arrived at a conclusion, the child stays here."

Trying to take control of the situation Terra repeated her earlier stance, that the conversation was already over, but Lilly didn"t tolerate that in the slightest.

"Sure you have, but it"s a s.h.i.+t conclusion."

"Lilly ple"

"You of all people should realize that as a fact Lux. I"ve heard the story you and Dax share, what if he just left you at the orphanage after deciding that it would be the safer choice for you?"

As if waiting for Lux to cut in Lilly presented a counter argument that drew on Lux"s own past.

"... Okay, but I still don"t like this."

Remembering that Dax himself took a major risk when he adopted her and brought her on a journey through lawless s.p.a.ce to and introduced her to 2 sisters from a dead race before he went off to fight a galactic war. With Lux at least partly convinced Lilly turned to Terra, having spend most of the night talking to Dax Lilly was already prepared to convince her.

"I"ve heard you"re planning to become some bada.s.s soldier, just like Dax and Lux here. I think you should give that up right now."

"And why is that?"

Almost failing to keep her cool Terra entertained Lilly"s statement, to which Lilly formed a smile as she posed a question herself.

"Then are you expecting to be able to do all that if you can"t protect 2 f.u.c.king children instead of 1?"

"... The child will be entirely your responsibility, you make sure they"re cleaned, fed, quiet and follows instructions at every point in time, be that day or night."

"Of course. I"ve been raising children since before you were born brat."

Showing a confident smile Lilly puffed out her mostly non existent chest with a "leave it to me kind of expression". In the background one of the reaper drones was quietly acting up, without alerting Lux control was slowly and meticulously sized while the datastream to Lux was still maintained without any interruption as it slowly moved its hand and unlocked the mechanical safety on its standard issue rifle.

"We have come to an agreement on our side."

"What a coincidence, we have too. We"re keeping the child here."

As the 2 sides represented by Lux and Urla started discussing their new stances, that had somehow flipped completely.

"If you want the child there are conditions."

"Nah, I don"t think so. Condition red, weapons on standby."

Giving a short verbal command as she raised her left hand as if signaling while the drones raised their weapons. In response Urla"s guards drew their weapons while one of them grabbed the child and got ready to leave the room.

"Well this appears to be a standstill."

Leaning back in her chair Urla believed to have the upper hand.

"Is it really? I feel like it"s no more that a slight inconvenience."

"Then does that mean you"ll meet our requests?"

Slightly hopeful Urla didn"t notice how Lux"s smile had turned colder while her eyes turned fierce.

"Condition black, Weapons unlocked."

[CONDITION BLACK CONFIRM.]

"Condition black affirmed."

[CONDITION BLACK CONFIRMED. WEAPONS FREE, CIVILIAN TARGETING ALLOWED.]

"This is not really a standstill, but a series if serval question I will find the answer to within the next minute. Will your suicidal pride cave, or will I have to wipe high velocity blood spatter of my face? Will I have to burn down this entire sad excuse for a outpost? And if so how much anti personnel ammunition will I have to expend? Only time will tell."

Speaking in a manner like she was picking dirt out from under her nails, Urla realized that there was no negotiating, no compromise, one should just lay down and hope not to be killed.

"Take the child, and never show you face here again."

"That works out great for us, Lilly."

While the drones in the background still held Urla and her personal guards and gunpoint Lilly walked over to the small demihuman child that so far had been scared s.h.i.+tless of all the things that had been going on.

"h.e.l.lo~ Remember me?"

Approaching slowly as she spread out her arms for a hug.

"Lilly!~"

Picking up the child still in a hug Lilly was apparently satisfied and then quickly left the room as she hummed a quiet song.

"How lovely we could come to such a perfect understanding."

With a warm business like smile Lux got up and left the room with Terra as the drones still held them at gunpoint, after about half a minute one of the drones also left, and Urla started getting irritated with still being threatened.

"What the h.e.l.l is up with this stupid golem?"

["Nothing at all, I"ve just temporarily taken control of it."]

Initially surprised by the drone speaking, Urla quickly collected herself.

"And who are you?"

["If I say I joined the hunters guild about half a year ago and have a higher ranking than you would you understand?"]

"I see. So what the f.u.c.k do you want?"

Catching up fast Urla wonder what the renowned and famous "qiton" wanted to with her.

["I"m still thinking about that at the moment, part of me wants to travel halfway around the world just so I can crush your windpipe with my own hand, and another part of me want to help you with your current monster issue, and I"m kind of split at the moment."]

"YOU DARE!?"

Apparently not able to handle the continued treats to his employer, one of the guards charged the lone drone with his short sword drawn, in response "Dax" crouched down as he engaged the mechanical safety on his rifle as he brought it down from his shoulder to "his" hips. As the guard got within 2 steps the drone sprung into action and used the Rex alpha rifle as a spear and crushed the guards windpipe in a precise and well practised movement.

["I"ve decided~"]

Bringing the rifle back up to the drone"s shoulder, the safety was once more disabled as Dax pointed the sharply loaded rifle towards Urla. In response Urla put up her hand as to stop her guards as she looked at the drone without any particular expression on her face.

["Smart move~"]

Felling Dax"s smile behind the drone Urla waited for Dax to be done with his practical joke.

["I"ll take care of your current monster issue."]

"And why would you be so kind as to do that?"

["Because I feel like it, and because you will buy all the cores at a favorable price."]

"Why?"

["Because otherwise I"ll nuke this sad little outpost and start my planned hostile disa.s.sembly of the hunters guild. It"s high time for all these guilds and countries of this small f.u.c.king backwater world to realize what exactly they are dealing with… Or not, you decide the timing."]
