I’m so brain dead today, agh. For some reason nothing in this chapter was going into my brain… it probably reads really rough.
Chapter 41: Villain vs. Villain
She replayed the scene she had just witnessed in her mind. If Qi Mo knew what was happening, he wouldn"t spare a single one of them. Feng Ji wasn"t an idiot after all. He clearly knew that one had to deal with Qi Mo with extreme caution. But the truth was, despite the harrowing scene, there was nothing the man could really do. If Qi Mo took the Wind Clan"s land fair and square, the Blue Clan couldn"t do anything about it, and if they did, they risked retaliation from the Qi Clan.
Li Xin plopped back into the chair in front of the monitors, unwilling to move now. Up on the screens, she could see that there was no movement from the still-dark torture room either. More than likely the men in there knew that if the room"s electricity got cut off, then the infrared rays would trigger; coming into contact with one was a death wish, so there was no need for Li Xin to be concerned about the women right now. Her current priority was figuring out whether to go and find Qi Mo or not.
She sat there in a daze, mulling over the whole situation in her mind. She had still yet to think of a solution when something moved on one of the screens. When she looked up, she froze, startled. Someone had hacked into the system — if she didn"t possess the skills she had, she would have missed the fact that someone was playing the footage on repeat.
Man, she thought to herself. The day was about to get real interesting.
She got to work immediately, both her hands flying furiously over the keyboard as she fought the hacker that was invading the system. The two experts faced each other, each aiming for the smallest leverage against the other. It only took a short while, but Li Xin managed to regain control of the monitors and return them to their normal functions. She smirked. System hacking was something she excelled in, and she wasn"t shabby at going against other hackers either. Furthermore, she had done it stealthily, so the other party wouldn"t notice anything peculiar.
After all the monitors started up again, Li Xin let out a humorless laugh. Qi Mo was truly a force to be reckoned with. The entire building and all outside areas surrounding it was filled with people streaming in and out: the overlord"s own people were discreetly entering the building as she watched.
Very soon, the entire building was surrounded by Qi Clan members and they were silently getting rid of Feng Ji"s people. Li Xin casually observed that criminal versus criminal fights in real life was not as entertaining to watch as they were in TV shows.
She sat in the chair observing the quiet battle that took place, her brows raised judgmentally every time she witnessed someone making a stupid move. She had completely forgotten that she had been deciding whether or not to slip away.
When the monitors switched back to Qi Mo"s room, it was empty. She paused. Where did he go? She began combing through the other monitors, and eventually located him and everyone else on the second floor, walking along with measured steps with a carefully concealed smirk on his face. Feng Ji followed along behind him with an ashen face. So someone had informed Qi Mo of the situation then.
Li Xin wondered why Qi Mo chose this particular moment to make his move. What justifiable excuse had he found in order for him to take the Wind Clan"s territory? But then again, there was no point in worrying over this now. If she stayed here, then there was a chance that any Qi Clan ambushers that didn"t know who she was would unintentionally send her to greet her dead ancestors.
She quickly grabbed a copy of the surveillance footage she had been creating and left for the torture room. It wasn"t time for those women to die yet.
Upon reaching the torture room, she pulled out a pair of specialty gla.s.ses that she had grabbed from the surveillance center. She shimmied her way through a crack in the room, making sure that no one could sense her presence in the dark. The men couldn"t move, but they could still aim their guns at her.
With the gla.s.ses, she was able to see clearly in the dark. She surveyed the scene, where everyone was still frozen in the same position she had left them on the monitors.
"f.u.c.king h.e.l.l. What is going on? Why did the electricity suddenly cut off?" Someone was saying.
"Dunno, but it shouldn"t have been out for this long. Maybe something happened? It could be the Qi Clan"s boss."
"s.h.i.t. Once I found out who was behind this, I"m going to kill them. Lao San, did you get them ready? As soon as I"m able to get out, I"m going to throw a couple their way and kill them. Otherwise I won"t feel satisfied. f.u.c.k them for not taking our clan seriously."
"You"re right, we gotta kill however many of them as we can. They"re in that corner over there inside a box."
Li Xin froze. She had been making her way towards the girl with the broken wrists, but the conversation in the room stopped her short. Out of curiosity, she felt her way towards the corner they mentioned and used the infrared gla.s.ses to inspect the aforementioned box. Opening it wasn"t a challenge at all. The box"s contents made her insides turn to ice. It was filled to the brim with multiple versions of the device that had gone off in the poppy field — over ten of them. She cursed and made a split second decision to dump all the devices into her lap.
"Who"s there? Come out!" A voice shouted in suspicion. She had been trying to keep quiet, but it seemed like someone had heard her anyways. Li Xin ignored them; they couldn"t move anyways. She went to maneuver the pa.s.sed out girl onto her back and exited the room back through the small crack in the door.
Things were all calm for the moment outside, but she knew that this was the calm before the storm. At least the surveillance center had already been taken under control by Qi Mo"s people; there was no need for her to worry about arousing suspicion. She dragged the unconscious girl with her, speed-walking towards the back of the villa. Time was of essence — she didn"t know how badly Qi Mo would react to her aiding someone he despised.
After she left the girl in a safe place, she made her way quickly and quietly towards where she predicted Qi Mo be. p.i.s.sing the man off was not something that was worth doing.

Just as she expected, the overlord was making his way out of the building in his usual stoic fashion. His face was tight and his brows were knit together tensely. It had been a while since Li Xin had left. He was sure Feng Ji wouldn"t touch his people without him making the first move; he also didn"t think that Li Xin would run. So where in the h.e.l.l was she?
"Overlord Qi, we can discuss whatever is the matter nicely…" Feng Ji was pleading.
"No need," he replied shortly, cutting the other man off with a wave of his hand. He didn"t have the patience to discuss things nicely. If he hadn"t meant to take their territory today, he wouldn"t even have taken them up on their invitation.
He stood at the main entrance of the building, sweeping his gaze across the scene before him with his face set sternly. He would give her twenty more seconds. If she didn"t show up, he wasn"t going to be merciful.
Twenty seconds later, Qi Mo headed for the car without saying a word. Far off in the distance, the snipers and other men were standing in position, ready to start moving. He had given her enough time; whatever she was doing, she"d better hope she had good survival skills. He didn"t need useless people.
Suddenly, the woman in question appeared, shoving her way through and charging at the speed of lightning until she arrived in front of Qi Mo"s car. She managed to grab the car door just a second before it shut, panting too heavily from her marathon to speak. Li Xin had charged here like she was running for her life — it was such a close call. The place was about to turn into a battlefield and be blown into smithereens; one second too late, and she was a goner as well. She hadn"t lived long enough yet and didn"t care for dying so early.
Qi Mo glared at her, his gaze clouded with dissatisfaction and annoyance. Time was of essence; a single second longer and the woman would have caused a whole load of inconvenience. Yes, inconvenience, that was it. Not danger, for Qi Mo did not fear danger — he simply found these kinds of small things an annoyance.
He shifted his body, about to move over to make room for Li Xin, but she had already threw herself into the car over his body, sprawled across the car seat. She was just in time. Just at that moment at the very top of the building, the men she had knocked unconscious woke up and looked around them in alarm.
"The Qi Clan has invaded us! They"ve taken our data!" They yelled in panic.
The Wind Clan residence was not a very tall building, and their shouts of alarm traveled easily from the top of the building down to the people at the bottom, heard by every single one of Feng Ji"s people.
