Clay felt groggy but the commotion of everyone waking up had caught his attention and he quickly came to and started to get ready. It was not long before the squadron was once again a.s.sembled outside of their tents facing Sergeant Coniver.

Looking at the haggard expression of Doncaster, he could feel a slight smile come to his face. Kayden didn"t fare much better, perhaps staying in the same tent as Sergeant Coniver had put the two on edge unable to relax fully.

"A new day. The first order of things is to start the hunt." The surprise announcement caught the recruits in a shock.

Reo was the first to speak, "hunt?"

A smile caught be seen on the Sergeant"s face. "We can"t only survive on rations. The best way to start the day is with some exercise so of course we are going on a hunt. We will be looking out for two things. The first is a source of water and the second is a source of food. For this you will be split into two groups. Remember if you can"t find anything you won"t be able to eat today and that includes rations from your supplies, that will be your punishment."

A faint sense of discontent could be felt in the air as the recruits silently protested against these conditions.

"Listen, line up when I call your names." It didn"t take long for the group to be divided into two separate lines. "Sigu, Jigme, Klayden and Tigul you will be in charge for putting food on the table. Remember to consult your info doc for species which can be caught and eaten. Reo, Sofi, Doncaster and Miranda you guys will need to find a place for us to obtain water, if you"re not sure where to start please say so now."

Once again the first to raise their hands to ask a question was Reo. "Sergeant Coniver, what do we do when we find a source of water?" The sound of "thunk" could be heard in the air as his sister hit him on the back of the head. "Idiot of course we need to bring water back!" An aggrieved expression could be seen on her brother"s eyes as he looked back, however his eyes seemed to say "but how?"

"That"s right you need to bring water back, how you do that you need to figure out by yourself, anyone else?" Smiling at the antics of the squadron, Sergeant Coniver felt somehow more relaxed than before despite his stern expression on his face that immediately eclipsed the smile.

The silence greeted the air. "Good, I will be looking to some progress then, you have six hours from now to complete your missions, I will be waiting here." Having explained their tasks Sergeant Coniver went back to his tent.

Pulling up the info doc, Clay saw he wasn"t the only one to consult the information that they had to get a better grasp on their group activity. Though unfortunately he had to work with Kayden, still some things were unavoidable.

The first to break the ice was Kayden who gathered the group together as he was speaking. "From what I can tell I think there is two viable methods to get food here, the first is to gather some fruits and the second is capture and kill an edible creature. Though I am sure that you all heard Sergeant Coniver too, I think the best way would be to focus on capturing a creature, if he wanted us to go on a picnic he wouldn"t have said the word hunt. This training expedition is supposed to help test us and get us to develop skills."

Clay couldn"t help but nod with Kayden"s logical summary, he hated to say so but he was right: "I agree but I also think if along the way we find fruits that might be edible we should bring it with us, there is no point in starving ourselves if we can help it."

Tigul remained silent as he stared at the rest of his group. While Sigu only replied with one word. "Ok."

Seeing that the basic details seems to have been worked out Clay decided that it would better to hunt with clear targets in mind. "If we are going to capture a creature I think it is better to focus on something that can provide enough for the whole squadron so it needs to be quite big or a creature that travels in a group but is not going to cause too much problems to kill."

"I already thought about that and in fact we can work together with the other group if we go fishing, or if we travel together first, it would be safer that way. Even creatures need to drink and replenish the liquid in their body, if we wait and set an ambush at a source of water that would be best." Kayden spoke concisely and drew approval from the group as he clearly spoke out his plan.

"I think we should do as Kayden says, it is better than running chasing after something without a clear plan", this time Sigo spoke in front of the group, clearly agreeing with his plan.
