Chapter 2.2: Tiger Falling
Ye Xuan opened his eyes wide.
Did he hear that wrong?
The Spirit Strengthening Pill increases one’s own spirit energy. One pellet costs one hundred silver taels while three pellets cost three hundred silver taels. The Hundred Years Old Blood Ginseng was worth one hundred thousand silver taels.
Ye Xuan could not believe how stingy his uncle became after he lost all hopes of recovering his nephew’s cultivation. He could not even bother to give him a mere pellet worth one hundred silver taels?!
What was that?!
Ye Xuan did not say much. His teeth clenched—looking like a tiger bullied by a dog. He could slap the treasure house manager’s face with just one hand before, but now it was not so.
The tables have turned.
Now the treasure house’s manager could stab him to death with a finger.
“When I recover my strength, I’ll teach you a lesson! I’ll remember this!” Ye Xuan noted the grudge down in his heart. He’ll remember the treasure house manager’s loathsome look—he’ll engrave it in his mind.
However, if he’s unable to recover even half of his strength, then all that he’d done would be in vain.
Sighing inwardly, Ye Xuan returned to his room and began pondering over his current predicament carefully.
Not long after, a manly figure walked into the courtyard.
Seeing the figure up close, Ye Xuan shouted his name. “Uncle!”
“Ye Xuan, I heard you went to the treasure house earlier today,” said the Patriarch, Ye Zhang, his voice overbearingly deep.
“Yes,” Ye Xuan nodded.
“Don’t blame uncle. Your cultivation dropped tremendously and now… now there’s not even a small drop in the bucket. If you’re able to recover, it’d be for the best, however, you’ve already spent a million silver taels inside the treasure house and you’ve not shown the slightest hint of recovery, so the elders and I decided that we can no longer allow you to utilise any of the cultivation resources.” Ye Zhang shook his head in regret.
“…You already gave up on me…?” The youth’s heart turned somewhat bitter.
“It’s not that I’m giving up on you… just that… you’re no longer able to cultivate like before,” Ye Zhang said slowly. “Until your body recovers and you regain your cultivation, you’ll help manage Ye Clan’s business. You should go and pack up now.”
Ye Xuan nodded. “Alright, I understand!”
How pitifully laughable, really! Ye Clan truly gave up on him, otherwise, Ye Zhang would’ve never allowed him to pack and leave Cloud Merge City.
He was the number one wastrel trash in Cloud Merge City. If he left, it’d only bring the Ye Clan more benefits than none. So long as he’s gone, the people would forget his existence as time pa.s.sed by.
As Ye Xuan prepared to enter his room, Ye Zheng suddenly called out. “Ye Xuan, don’t go yet.”
The youth turned his head and smiled softly. “Uncle, is there anything else?”
“It’s like this… before the misfortune arrived, Ye Clan arranged you a partner in marriage. You’re engaged to Lin Xu’er of Lin Clan. However, after Cloud Merge City heard of your mishaps, Lin Clan became a little…”
Ye Zhang stopped in his tracks and did not continue.
Ye Xuan understood. “Uncle, does Lin Clan want to end the engagement?”
“Yes,” Ye Zhang nodded, “And they’ve already arrived. They’re currently in the main hall and brought a gift of offering.”
“Uncle, I understand now. I’ll go ahead and meet them,” Ye Xuan replied perfunctorily.
It was another case of a tiger falling to the ground while a lowly dog bullied him.
It couldn’t be helped.
This was also the nature of humans.
No clan would want their precious daughter to marry a trash—a trash who could not cultivate and a trash who attempted suicide because the trash was afraid of being cut off.
In Cloud Merge City, there exists a few couple farmers able to cultivate. Though they weren’t strong by all means, they had enough spirit energy residing in their bodies.
And what of Ye Xuan? He did not have a single bit of spirit energy. It’s probably why the thought of suicide sprung to mind. He’d not be able to beat a strong man who did not even know how to cultivate. The very thought of it terrified him so.
“It’s good you’re able to keep your head cool. Moreover, she was accepted by a sect stronger than Splitting Cloud Sect.” Ye Zhang glanced over Ye Xuan’s shoulder.
