Chapter 1240: Snake Ghost Has No Name!
Merry hadn’t expected that saying one thing would have both Xia Fei and Snake Ghost telling him to shut up. This treatment was truly most unjustified. He sincerely didn’t want Xia Fei and Snake Ghost to fight, for there would be trouble no matter who won.
Xia Fei was a Neophyte Dragoon, while Snake Ghost was a supporting pillar of the Fog Fortress and a famous individual in the Blueblood Race, his reputation comparable to Cebu Clan Patriarch Yun Zahir.
Radix sighed, finding Merry rather ridiculous. How could this man possibly understand what Xia Fei was thinking? No matter who Snake Ghost was, how could Xia Fei possibly let someone who had ambushed him get away alive? Thus, whatever Merry said, it was completely pointless.
Whoos.h.!.+
Furball, Nirvana, Little Goldie, and Xia Fei lined up, itching for battle. They stared as that figure walked out of the darkness, ready to charge out as soon as Xia Fei gave the order!
Daring to attack their master? Unforgivable!
Snake Ghost didn’t take the usual form that Bluebloods used, instead appearing as a crystal! The Cerulean Soulgem was dim, not standing out as much as those of other Bluebloods, but Xia Fei frowned slightly. There had to be a reason Snake Ghost’s Cerulean Soulgem was so dim. Perhaps he had interacted with the King Fog Snake for too long, such that the venom had penetrated through his body, or perhaps there was some sort of energy suppression technique being used. In short, this was a very high-ranked and special opponent.
“He’s coming at you in his crystal form. He might be ready to give up his life,” Radix whispered to Xia Fei.
Xia Fei nodded. The three great races of the universe all had their specialties. For humans, it was that they cultivated faster the higher their rank was. As for the Fiends, they had been known for the legendarily unconventional gambits, but alas, they were now extinct. The Bluebloods were known for their mystical crystal bodies, their soulgems. So long as the soulgem was not destroyed, they were immortal. The human race’s Seeds of Life simply couldn’t be compared to them.
Moreover, the Blueblood Race possessed pure energy. Whether it was Origin Energy or dark energy, their mastery of energy was far above that of the other races.
…
As for the commonality between the three, it was that they were all very bad. Humans were cunning and selfish, Bluebloods were paranoid and fickle, and the long-gone Fiends had been far too smart, with so many tricks that they had been called the universe’s best tacticians.
But if one thought about it, this was quite normal. The universe was a treacherous place, and a race that was too honest and naive wouldn’t have survived this long.
Snake Ghost was like a glowing human-shaped cerulean crystal, standing in front of Xia Fei. It was impossible to see the look on his face, only hear his voice.
“This Zadin Clan kid is pretty good. I am Snake Ghost, the snake charmer of the Fog Fortress. Puny human, you dare to attack the Fog Fortress? Truly audacious! Don’t forget that this is Undercurrent, not Alpha! We Bluebloods are the rulers here!”
Rumble!
Xia Fei had no desire to hear Snake Ghost speak any longer. Was there such a concept in this day and age? The only rule was that of the stronger fist!
Getting on his tiptoes, Xia Fei began his curved acceleration as Furball, Little Goldie, and the Nirvana Fiend Blade charged from the front!
Snake Ghost was startled. In the faraway Undercurrent Universe, he had never heard of Xia Fei’s infamy and hadn’t expected Xia Fei to be even more temperamental than him. Without even a greeting, he had attacked! Nirvana, Furball, and Little Goldie formed the vanguard, howling as they charged, while Xia Fei curved to the side, ready to change trajectory and attack at any moment! It was the cla.s.sic Xia Fei-style combo attack!
“Rise!” Snake Ghost yelled, and that giant King Fog Snake drew back… and then shot forward like a cannonball!
It was only now, after the snake revealed its entire body, that Xia Fei realized that it had a pair of wings! It was a legendary flying snake!
Alas, those wings grew on its tail. Xia Fei didn’t get it. What use was a pair of wings that grew on the tail? If it took flight, its body would be seriously imbalanced, causing its hood to drop down while its tail was in the air.
Rumble!
As Xia Fei was wondering what was going on, the wings on the snake’s tail began to move; one flap was enough to split the heavens!
It spun like a propeller. Dark s.p.a.ce was already unstable, and with the King Fog Snake messing around, it began to quiver. Anyone within would feel like they were in a small boat on the roaring ocean!
With a rumble, the King Fog Snake threw out its tail. Putting aside the sharp wings spinning around like propellers, the s.p.a.ce-disrupting storm was hard enough to deal with.
*Awoooo!*
Furball roared! Holy Beasts were Holy Beasts! Even in dark s.p.a.ce, a Holy Beast’s majesty could not be blasphemed!
Bang!
Furball accelerated, turning into a white streak of light!
Next was Little Goldie, this time becoming a golden light, a sharp needle that was visible for the briefest of moments!
Last of all was the Fiendish Blade Nirvana, black and silver mixed together in a ball as it took aim at the King Fog Snake’s wings!
*Bang!*
Nirvana split into six blades. They were small, but each Fiend Blade was enough to stop one of those kilometer-long blade-like wings!
While it seemed like the Fiend Blades and the snake wings were equally tough, The Nirvana Fiend Blade had another secret. It wasn’t powerful just because it was tough and sharp, but also because it could devour energy!
The snake’s wings had barely made contact with the Fiend Blades when it started regretting its decision, for a leech, no, a pile of leeches, had crawled over its body and started sucking at its blood! Its energy was rapidly drained, a terrible feeling that had the snake hissing in pain.
At the same time, Furball and Little Goldie shot at the snake’s body together, as if they had agreed on a plan beforehand!
While they were both small, they were both excellent troublemakers! This was particularly true for the rather dumb Little Goldie. Under the command of the cunning Furball, he was capable of anything!
This was a fine mess. The King Fog Snake’s ultimate move had been blocked by the Nirvana Fiend Blade, and now it had two small guys flying around it. It was an excruciating situation!
Snake Ghost was utterly shaken by the combat power Xia Fei had displayed! A human who was a rare Spiritualist, together with a pack of ruthless followers! This sort of force could even challenge an Annihilator!
Snake Ghost wasn’t wrong to think that way. Xia Fei could never be measured according to his rank. The number of Spiritualists that had died at his hand as of late could have made a powerful force all on their own! Xia Fei had even challenged an Annihilator before!
*Whoos.h.!.+*
Xia Fei was extremely fast as he rushed at Snake Ghost. Speed types were skilled in close combat, and Snake Ghost did not dare let Xia Fei get close. Thus, he used a commonly-seen instant movement, and in a blue flash, he retreated one kilometer!
By the time Snake Ghost came to a stop, he realized that the situation had changed again!
The cunning Xia Fei had only been pretending to charge at him. His actual target was the King Fog Snake!
“Peac.o.c.k Blue!”
*Bang!*
Immemorial Mystical Armament Peac.o.c.k Blue’s blades of gra.s.s rushed out, instantly growing to several kilometers in length!
Xia Fei raised his right arm, and Peac.o.c.k Blue grabbed the King Fog Snake’s head like a giant hand, causing the big fellow to hiss in pain!
Moreover, Peac.o.c.k Blue had used one ma.s.sive leaf to firmly press down on that crowned protrusion on the King Fog Snake’s head. The snake had intended to release its venom, which was bound to be terrifying in both quant.i.ty and quality!
Xia Fei had realized this, and he had no intention of giving the snake that chance! He used Peac.o.c.k Blue to seal the poison gas’s release point, forcing back the gas that had been about to be released!
The King Fog Snake’s golden eyes turned green! It was like someone about to burp when another person punched them in the mouth. The gas was forced back into the belly, almost causing it to burst!
How frustrating! The King Fog Snake was crying!
The ruthless way Xia Fei’s group fought was truly unbearable! Absorbing your energy, burrowing into your body, and even forbidding you from burping!
“Get down here!” Xia Fei roared, swinging his right arm down. Peac.o.c.k Blue was like a metal claw, forcing the giant snake’s head down!
*Rumble!*
There was a lot of debris in dark s.p.a.ce, and the King Fog Snake’s head just so happened to be above a sharp boulder. With this shove, Xia Fei thrust several hundred tons of weight onto the rock! The boulder was instantly obliterated!
Thirty million meters per second!
Xia Fei ran a circle along the neck of the snake and then came to a stop. He had been holding something in his hand throughout, but the distance had prevented Snake Ghost from getting a clear view of it.
“Break!” Xia Fei pulled, and the hair-thin Fiend Lock sliced through the head of the snake like it was made of tofu!
Fiend Lock was just too sharp. The slightest exertion of strength was enough to remove a head!
“Aaaaagggh!!!,” Snake Ghost yowled. He had made an error in judgment from the very start of the battle. Thinking that Xia Fei wanted to attack him, he had retreated, but in the one second it had taken to retreat, Xia Fei had cut off the head of the King Fog Snake!
An instant kill!
There was no chance!
Furball and Little Goldie had also finished their mission and were ready to leave the snake’s body so that they could fight again. Little Goldie followed close behind Furball, like a servant. As the two of them traveled through the snake’s head, Little Goldie suddenly saw some alluring object and took a bite.
These two were both gluttons, but Furball was also very smart and was excessively picky about his food. He normally didn’t eat anything but the purest of energy, but Little Goldie acted entirely according to instinct. If he saw something tasty, he would take a bite…
…
Snake Ghost stood next to the King Fog Snake’s corpse, his head lowered and his body shaking.
“They call me Snake Ghost, but I don’t have a name,” Snake Ghost said in a raspy voice.
Xia Fei was startled, not understanding why he was saying this in the middle of a fight.
“I have no name,” Snake Ghost, repeating what he had just said. “But I am the most formidable snake charmer in history! The King Fog Snakes that rule dark s.p.a.ce are all my children, which is why they call me Snake. But do you know why there’s also a ghost!?”
A whirlwind stirred within dark s.p.a.ce with an ominous rumble! Snake Ghost’s dim blue body gradually began to s.h.i.+ne!
“Black!?” Xia Fei’s eyes darkened.
