Chapter 995: Trouble! Still Trouble!

“Do you wish to hunt souls or eat souls?! You need to make a choice!” Radix and Hosu stated gravely, already knowing what was happening right now.
Xia Fei could only feel a powerful itch raging inside his body. It was like there were a million insects crawling all over his skin, an unbearable experience. Even his skin was turning red from the burning sensation!
Xia Fei did his best to endure what he was feeling inside as he asked, “Hunt souls? Eat souls? Just what in the world is happening to me?”
Radix was enraptured, “A Soul Hunter is a very n.o.ble undertaking, something Hosu and I belong to. We are able to hunt and kill souls, using all sorts of soul power as our base and unleas.h.i.+ng all sorts of combat techniques.
“A Soul Eater is completely different. Their goal isn’t to hunt, but to slay! They are the nightmare of all soul power! The difference in choosing this path is that Soul Eaters have no way of hunting souls, and can only slay them!
“From an energy perspective, Soul Hunters are able to draw on Soul Power, which is why the more souls they hunt down, the stronger they get, combat strength wise. The downside is that they have no way of killing souls, and they will be in trouble when going up against a powerful Immortal soul.
“Though Soul Eaters are capable of killing souls, they are unable to draw energy from souls. They are like a lone blade in the middle of a battlefield; if they are unable to take care of the enemy in one blow, then they will die from the enemy’s energy backlash.”
Xia Fei frowned after hearing the explanation. Be it a Soul Hunter or a Soul Eater, their pros and cons were apparent. The latter was more lethal, but lacked energy, while the former never had to worry about energy, but were not able to slay their enemies, unable to make their enemies yield.
Being unable to kill his enemies would depress Xia Fei greatly, and he would feel dissatisfied if he did not have enough energy to devote to battle.
While pondering, three rays of light appeared inside his seventh brain region, colored red, white and black.
They circled the golden Soul Mark that had just formed in his brain region, slowly orbiting it. It was a fantastic sight.
“It’s time to choose! White represents energy, and you’ll become a Soul Hunter. You’ll have endless energy, and as the number of souls you hunt increase, the energy you have will become stronger!
“Red represents slaughter! Choosing red will make you a Soul Eater, and as your level rises, you’ll be able to kill higher quality souls! No matter which you choose, you’ll become a well-respected professional warrior beyond the Cosmic Gate!” Hosu exhorted him with a solemn expression.
Radix was also shouting, “That’s right! You need to make your choice in three minutes, and considering the inheritance the young master left behind and your status as an Aurorean, as long as you’re willing, you’ll definitely become a top-notch warrior!”
However, Xia Fei was greatly intrigued by that black light. The ray circled around his Soul Mark, emitting an icy cold aura that would chill anyone. This sinister and cold attribute was far more heart-pounding than the red Soul Eater’s.
“White is for Soul Hunter, and Red is for Soul Eater, so what is black for?” Xia Fei wondered out loud.
“What black?” Hosu and Radix were both nonplussed. They did not seem to have heard of black before.
“You must be mistaken. After activating your Soul Mark, its energy will give you the choice of choosing which direction you’d like to go, and it had always been red or white. When has there ever been black?” Radix shrugged.
“There’s really no black, Xia Fei. Don’t hesitate any longer, and become a Soul Hunter of the Aurora Clan! That’s what we have the most of, and the one with the greatest achievements is also a Soul Hunter. Why don’t you follow tradition and choose Soul Hunter?” Hosu recommended matter-of-factly.
Xia Fei decided not to say another word. Though both Hosu and Radix were adamant that there was no black ray, the fact remained that this black light had vividly appeared in his brain region, and its mysterious glow and chilling aura attracted Xia Fei deeply.
He did not have much time left. Xia Fei had to choose his path in three minutes, and it did not matter that this black glow had appeared in his brain region; what mattered was whether he wanted to choose it or not!
White meant becoming a Soul Hunter, Xia Fei had learned, and red meant a Soul Eater, which he now knew as well. But what he would become if he took the mysterious black, Xia Fei had no clue! Even Radix and Hosu had no clue! In fact, neither had ever heard of it!
The corners of Xia Fei’s lips curled up into a smirk.
During his life, Xia Fei had never taken the conventional path. Whether he was on Earth or in the Alliance, or after he joined the Law Realm, Xia Fei always took the path no one had ever taken before. It was precisely because of his predilection for the road less traveled that he had become the Xia Fei he was today!
This was not a difficult choice for Xia Fei. Ever curious, he had never been someone that regretted how different he was from others. Though it was his unconventional choices that had brought Xia Fei plenty of trouble, trouble had already become an indispensable part of his life!
Everyone knew about Xia Fei from the Skywing Clan and his unconventionality, and everyone knew that there was a Xia Fei in the Skywing Clan who would always cause trouble. Everyone knew that this time, Xia Fei might just be causing trouble again…
His willpower acting like a nimble finger, Xia Fei reached out toward that ma.s.s of black and lightly touched it.
*pew*
The light shone, and thousands of demons danced!
The three colored lights that had been orbiting inside his seventh brain region abruptly disappeared, and in their place was a Soul Mark, true and complete! A Soul Mark that was a mix of gold and black!
There were nine sides to the Soul Mark, and Xia Fei had only obtained one of them. If eight more Soul Marks were to appear, then he would have a full nine-sided Soul Mark.
*Rumble!*
Six dragons soared into the skies as a divine glow washed the lands!
This was the phenomenon when a Law G.o.d was born! Xia Fei had actually gone from a Level Five Law Sage and soared up to reach the Law G.o.d tier!
This was an unbelievable jump! He had crossed the two major thresholds, Superior Law Sage and Law G.o.d, in one go!
Strange occurrences happened beside Xia Fei, as six ferocious large dragons began roaring as they ascended up to the heavens, s.h.i.+ning across all of the Hidden Realm!
Far away, the great robot army halted what they were doing and watched the wild dragons flying, taking in this unbelievably dazzling divine glow!
Hosu and Radix were also greatly astonished. It seemed neither of them had thought it was possible for Xia Fei to instantly gain such an increase in cultivation!
However, the six dragons soaring into the skies was not the end of things; four lights proceeded to rise from Xia Fei thereafter, and though it was not comparable to what they had witnessed when Xia Fei broke through to attain Law G.o.d cultivation, Hosu and Radix were even more flabbergasted by what they were seeing!
That was because it meant Xia Fei had not just reached Law G.o.d cultivation, but he had also risen up to Level Five Law G.o.d!
A Level Five Law G.o.d?! How in the world?!
Another step and he would become a Superior Law G.o.d! Four more steps and he would reach Peak Law G.o.d! The very limits of his physical strength!
Xia Fei had managed to tear through the levels, from a Level Five Law Sage to become a Level Five Law G.o.d?! Such a feat left both Radix and Hosu breathless!
“What kind of situation is this?!” Radix asked, shaking his head, his eyes wide in disbelief.
Hosu shook his head as well. “I can’t be too sure, but it seems like Xia Fei has risen to Level 5 Law G.o.d, and already possesses a Seed of Life of his own!”
“Seed of Life? Why can’t I see it?!” Radix said, examining Xia Fei for the longest time.
Hosu was startled and began doing the same as Xia Fei as well.
“Wait, it’s really not there?!”
“No way! Xia Fei has attained Level 5 Law G.o.d cultivation, yet he has no Seed of Life! Does that mean he lacks the ability to resurrect?!”
“Just what kind of situation is this?!” This line was now thrown back to Hosu, but the shock remained the same.
“How would I know?!” Radix grasped his head and said, “After activating your Soul Mark, it’s natural for one to see a three-Level rise in physical attributes, yet Xia Fei has soared up nine Levels! He ought to have obtained a Seed of Life upon reaching the Law G.o.d tier as proof that a warrior has cultivated to the pinnacle reaches of the universe, but Xia Fei doesn’t have the seed!”
“This is far too unbelievable! Too unbelievable!” The only emotion left in Hosu was shock, and he kept repeating himself.
That was when Xia Fei suddenly opened his eyes and exhaled slowly, softly asking, “What’s so unbelievable?”
Anyone could see that Xia Fei looked like he had just come down with a huge illness. His entire face was covered in sweat, and his entire body seemed to have shrunken down a size after the intense consecutive promotions he had just experienced.
“You’re unbelievable!” Radix and Hosu yelled out in unison.
“Just what did you do?! How did you promote so rapidly! Do you know that you’ve reached Level Five Law G.o.d Cultivation already! Level Five Law G.o.d! You’ve practically jumped nine Levels in one go, and will soon be reaching the peak of your physical prowess!” Hosu shouted at him.
Radix quickly added, “You’ve attained Law G.o.d cultivation, yet you still do not have a Seed of Life! This is terrible! Not having a Seed of Life means you won’t have the ability to be reborn. If you die, it will be final! Just what is going on here!? Where is your Seed of Life?!”
Xia Fei furrowed his brow and waved his hand dismissively, “How would I know how I ended up like this? You two should be the ones with the answers. After all, you’ve experienced this before, so you should know what happened.”
“Heck, who has ever experienced this!?” Hosu shouted. As a loyal servant of the Aurora Clan, Hosu was honestly panicking on Xia Fei’s behalf.
Rebirth was the most important accomplishment for an expert! With an immortal soul, that meant their lifespan increased, which also positively affected the continuation of their cultivation!
Only by acc.u.mulating constant cultivation over years could a warrior reach the zenith of their strength, because it was truly a long path!
If someone had a short lifespan, then no matter how great a talent he or she was, a limited life might not reach the limits of their capabilities! More importantly, losing the ability to be reborn meant that Xia Fei only had one life!
With how vast the universe was, who knew how many strong experts would be out there!
Who could guarantee that they would not encounter some unparalleled G.o.d-like killer? Other experts could rely on their rebirths to make up for their lack of cultivation, returning to the martial world after thousands of years, and they could take their revenge when making their comeback!
But Xia Fei did not have a Seed of Life! He would be nothing but ash after he died just once! He would be gone for good!
Radix was ultimately more of an active thinker than Hosu, and a spark of a thought came to him after scratching his head for quite some time. He said, “Hosu, quickly hand over young master’s inheritance! Now that Xia Fei has attained his first Soul Mark, he’ll be able to cultivate the heirloom martial technique of the Auroreans. As long as Xia Fei can obtain just one point of the heirloom, he will be able to safely establish himself here in this universe, and no one will ever harm him! Even several Founders ganging up on him would not be enough to take him down!”
Hosu froze for a moment, and swiftly began to search through his spatial ring. Radix’s words had reminded Hosu of his duty. Since it was already a reality that Xia Fei had not obtained his own Seed of Life, there was no point in worrying about this matter any further. It was far better to just let Xia Fei leverage his own potential and cultivate quickly!
As long as he had high enough cultivation, Xia Fei would be safe!
“The young master’s inheritance is all here!” Hosu hurriedly tossed a h.o.a.rd of items at Xia Fei.
