Chapter 255: The Unpredictable Moon Song
There was a huge cabinet in the living room. It suddenly swung open, causing the trash inside to scatter all over the floor.
Xia Fei immediately realized that Moon Song was worried that he would see her messy room, so she quickly shoved everything into the cabinet. The cabinet was quite big, but she had shoved a lot of things into it, too. She had to use all her strength to shut the door, but it had now opened on its own, for it could no longer withstand the pressure. Her plan had, thus, failed miserably.
The truth was that she did not have to go so far, since Xia Fei was not a tidy person, either. Vampire where he lived was a lot messier than here. He had piled up many spare parts in the s.h.i.+p to maximize its performance. There was not even enough s.p.a.ce for him to rest.
Moon Song felt extremely awkward. Her face blushed immediately. It was not easy to see her blush normally. Even dirty jokes could not make her blush in the past, but now, her face had reddened because of her room. Xia Fei found it quite amusing.
A big red apple slowly rolled to Xia Fei’s foot. Someone had taken a huge bite on it. Xia Fei picked it up from the ground and took a bite from it. He smiled. “You shouldn’t bother with little things like this considering our relations.h.i.+p. Either way, I know you are a kind-hearted girl. That’s good enough for me.”
Xia Fei did not like eating apples, yet he could only bear with it to save Moon Song some face. Words were nowhere as effective as actions. Xia Fei was trying to tell Moon Song that he would not look down on her because of her shortcomings.
To Xia Fei’s surprise, Moon Song’s eyes reddened following his words. The tears she wiped away just a moment ago started pouring out again. Xia Fei was left speechless, utterly confused by Moon Song’s reaction, and wondered if he had said something wrong again.
It was rare to see Moon Song, who would never allow herself to suffer losses in front of others, burst into tears. Xia Fei seriously was not in the mood to watch her cry. He was completely lost about what he should do. If it was an ordinary woman, Xia Fei could easily think of a way to comfort her, but it was Moon Song, the carefree tigress, who was crying. Xia Fei seriously had no idea what to do.
“Xia Fei.” Moon Song spread her arms and hugged his neck while calling his name pa.s.sionately. There was still a piece of the apple in Xia Fei’s throat, and Moon Song’s unusual behavior had caused it to be stuck in the middle of his throat. Xia Fei was lucky that he did not choke to his death.
Phantom’s eyes widened, too. He saw Xia Fei’s head stuck in Moon Song’s busty chest. Her b.r.e.a.s.t.s were soft like two huge b.a.l.l.s of cotton candy with a pleasant scent.
Most men would be over the moon when being hugged by a beauty, but Xia Fei was not because the woman was Moon Song—the woman who claimed to be a lesbian and was extremely hot-tempered. In addition to it, the apple was still stuck in his throat. No one would feel great in his shoes.
“I…I…I’m going to choke to death,” Xia Fei murmured with a pale face.
Moon Song quickly let go of Xia Fei and punched Xia Fei on the back.
The g*dd*mn apple drew an elegant parabola in the air and landed in the distance. The punch was surprisingly heavy. Xia Fei’s back was hurting like he had just been stabbed. Perhaps Moon Song was finally back to normal.
“Are you alright?” Moon Song gave Xia Fei a gla.s.s of water and asked concernedly. She sounded very gentle too, making Xia Fei feel uneasy.
“I…I’m fine,” Xia Fei said, “Where were we again?”
“You said that you don’t hate me,” Moon Song said.
Xia Fei was speechless. Why did it sound so ambiguous?
“That’s right. I’m not bothered about trifles, so there’s no need for you to worry. Not only won’t I hate you because of it, Chen Dong won’t hate you, too.”
Moon Song twisted her lips. “Who cares about that maniac? As long as you don’t hate me.”
Wait a second. Something was definitely not right. Did Moon Song take the wrong medicine today? She was being too kind to Xia Fei. Was she not the kind who would kill someone at the slightest conflict? It was difficult to believe that she was so kind and gentle all of a sudden.
“Let’s not talk about that; how did you know that the Heart of Spirit is dangerous to the human body?” Xia Fei quickly switched the topic and asked with a stern look. He was worried about Moon Song’s unusual behavior. Would she decide to silence him in the future if she recalled how misbehaving she was today? Xia Fei never doubted Moon Song’s brutality. He had witnessed many of her doings in the past two years.
“I just know,” Moon Song said. “You weren’t in the training camp, and Chen Dong’s ice ability can suppress the side effects of the Heart of Spirit, so I think it’s not necessary to tell you. As for the others, I couldn’t care less about them as long as the both of you are fine.”
Xia Fei nodded. Moon Song’s explanation was reasonable, but she seemed to be hiding something seeing how she was avoiding his question about how she knew the Heart of Spirit was dangerous.
Xia Fei did not want to stay any longer under the circ.u.mstances. He was feeling uneasy because of Moon Song’s unusual behavior. He looked up and glanced at the door. His tiny reaction did not escape Moon Song’s eyes.
Moon Song harrumphed and folded her arms around her chest with wide eyes.
“Why aren’t you leaving still? Do you want to stay in my room? Do you have some ulterior motives?”
Xia Fei felt as if he had been just granted amnesty. He blurted out, “no, of course not,” while heading toward the door.
“I’m treating you and Chen Dong to dinner tonight. Ask Manjun and Beihai to come, too. It’s been a while since I last saw you all. I won’t be staying long, either, since I’ve got other things to attend to. I don’t know when our next meeting will be,” Xia Fei said when he reached the door.
“Hmph! It’s better if you never come back,” Moon Song angrily slammed the door. The gentle Moon Song was gone within the blink of an eye, and she had gone back to her usual self.
Xia Fei seriously had no idea which Moon Song was the real her. The more he interacted with Moon Song, the more he thought that she was putting on a disguise. For example, she claimed that she was a lesbian, yet he had never seen her bringing a woman into her room. There were other lesbians who were interested in Moon Song, yet she was never into any of them.
Xia Fei shook his head and left. Chen Dong would invite Beihai and Manjun to the dinner. He, on the other hand, had to prepare himself and borrow some scanners to check the library’s bas.e.m.e.nt. His mind was occupied with the extra segment of that corridor. The secret was like a lump in Xia Fei’s heart due to his curiosity. It would remain forever if he did not solve the mystery.
Xia Fei coincidentally stumbled into Ye Xiaohan after leaving the dorm. She was standing at the entrance holding a newspaper as if she was waiting for someone.
The two chatted briefly, mainly about when Xia Fei had come back and when he was planning to leave. Ye Xiaohan was not good at expressing herself, and Xia Fei was not close to her, either, so he excused himself and went to the library after a brief polite exchange.
