Chapter 642: To the Demon Territory?
“Moon Song?” Xia Fei asked in shock. “Is Moon Song also in the Law Realm? How is it that I’ve never run into her?”
Chen Dong smiled. “The Law Realm uses spatial compa.s.ses and terminals, not the microcomputers of the Panhuman Alliance, as communication tools. Once you’re there, the old communication methods don’t work, so unless you run into them, you can’t find anyone.”
Xia Fei nodded. “That’s true. At least in the Alliance, there’s a telephone number, but in the Law Realm, everything is blocked out, and there’s truly no way of getting in touch.”
Chen Dong gave a slight nod. “You’ve got it. I’ve already heard of your deeds during the Dragon Ascension Conclave; alas, I had no way of contacting you, and it wasn’t possible for me to go to the Yu Family to find you, either. The entry and exit are all being controlled. If not for this coincidental meeting, who knows how long we brothers would have to wait before meeting again?
“Back then, you told me about that strange YES theory. Thinking that it made sense, I began wandering around and eventually came across this place called the Heritage Planet. Later, someone became my instructor and pa.s.sed onto me some very interesting cultivation methods. It was only after I arrived at the Law Realm that I realized that it’s the so-called law force and that I had already taken one step into the underworld.
“It’s too late for regret, so I decided that since it was all about cultivation and fighting anyway, it didn’t matter if it’s in the dark or out in the open, and it’s fine as long as I could cultivate. The new disciples in the organization all had to take a master, and my master was the Smiling Buddha of Murder Sullivan, that fat old man whom you killed.”
Xia Fei let out a sigh. “So you said farewell that time because you were entering the Law Realm.”
Chen Dong nodded. “Precisely. Unfortunately, I couldn’t tell you the truth then.”
Xia Fei awkwardly shrugged. “We’re the same. I didn’t tell you that I was headed to the Law Realm either. What’s your current cultivation level?”
Chen Dong answered, “Level 8 Law Sovereign. I cultivate the Laws of Matter and Ice.”
“Level 8 Law Sovereign!” Xia Fei was stunned. He thought that his advancement speed was heaven-defying, but it turned out that Chen Dong was even faster!
Chen Dong said, “I started cultivating law earlier than you did, all the way from Heritage Planet. It’s just that the teacher who taught me at the time didn’t tell me that it’s law force. It’s only when I arrived at the Law Realm that I understood.”
Xia Fei had been to Heritage Planet before, but the place he had been to had been abandoned long ago. He had been lucky enough to come back alive, let alone find some teacher to instruct him.
It was no wonder that Sullivan had brought Chen Dong with him. He was already a level 8 Law Sovereign and on the verge of ascending to Law Emperor. The Smiling Killing Buddha regarded him as a cherished disciple.
This thought made Xia Fei’s face freeze. Not only had he burdened Avril with this incident by forcing her to hide in the Hidden Realm, he had also burdened Chen Dong by making him bid farewell to the Law Realm. If not for him, Chen Dong might have been able to travel very far under the guidance of that Great Law Emperor instructor.
Though Chen Dong walked in the underworld, that was still a road. At least, it was better than not having a road at all, like things were now.
For Xia Fei, Chen Dong had actually abandoned his master and bid farewell to a promising career. Xia Fei found it impossible to return such a favor.
Fortunately, Charlie and the others were safe. If something happened to them, Xia Fei would be too ashamed to face his elders back in Jiangdong.
“What’s going on with Moon Song?” Xia Fei asked.
“I met her a while ago. It seems like she’s with a small clan in the Law Realm, though I don’t know how she managed to get there. She’s as carefree as ever, gnawing on a big cuc.u.mber whenever she’s free,” Chen Dong replied.
Xia Fei chuckled. “Her way of doing things is also pretty good, never having a hard time no matter where she goes. She just lacks a little in womanly qualities.”
Chen Dong heavily agreed with Xia Fei’s view of Moon Song. Now that he thought about it, it was rather strange. Moon Song was short with a bulging chest and a simple face, a devil’s body mixed with the face of an angel, but the resulting personality was extremely uncivilized, completely unlike her appearance, so much so that even her s.e.xual orientation was vague.
Chen Dong took out a piece of paper from his spatial ring and gave it to Xia Fei. “She gave her spatial compa.s.s number to me, but before I could contact her, Sullivan took me to the Alliance to hunt you down. If you want to find someone who understands the Law Realm, you should go and find her.”
Xia Fei frowned. “I’m a wanted individual. Moon Song’s not guaranteed to stand on my side.”
Chen Dong laughed. “Even I can tell, so how do you still not get it? Moon Song likes you. Let alone gather information, she’ll even climb a mountain of blades or forge into a sea of fire for you without fear.”
Xia Fei pursed his lips. There were some things that truly put him in a difficult situation. It was not just Moon Song. Sarah, Ye Xiaohan, Nicole, and even Mu Fuping had all treated him rather well.
There was nothing more difficult to endure than the kindness of a beauty. With his status before the incident, Xia Fei could have taken three or four wives without a problem. The problem was that Xia Fei already had Avril.
Putting aside everything else, when Xia Fei and Avril first got together, he had been an impoverished youth while she was the only successor to Starlink Corporation. As the daughter of a wealthy family, not only did she not look down on him, Xia Fei even made her cry quite a few times.
When Xia Fei went to the Wild Star Region, Avril did not mind sending several of Starlink Corporation’s fleets to search for this nameless soldier. When he went to Heritage Planet, Avril had been so worried that she lost a lot of weight. Xia Fei did not dare to forget all these things, and he considered a marriage to this sort of life the result of good karma that had to have taken several lifetimes to acc.u.mulate. He could not let her down.
Chen Dong saw Xia Fei hesitating and smiled. “Don’t overthink things. Moon Song won’t drag you down. She doesn’t even seem sure whether she likes men or women. To tell you the truth, she’s the only one who can help you gather information without leaking anything out. If I were to try, I would fail.”
Xia Fei nodded. “Fine. In a few days, I’ll try to contact her.”
Moon Song appeared carefree only on the surface. When it came to cleverness, she was better than anyone, and she was also skilled at hiding it. She truly could be of great aid to Xia Fei.
Xia Fei changed the topic and asked, “The Law Realm is probably going to be a no-go zone for a bit. What do you plan to do?”
Chen Dong patted his chest and said, “What does it matter if I can’t go back? This Hidden Realm doesn’t lack food and drink, and there’s a large amount of Origin Crystals for me to use, too. This is the perfect place for some secluded cultivation. I plan to seclude myself here for ten years! Even without a teacher, I can still cultivate!”
Xia Fei knew that Chen Dong was not speaking sincerely. The path of cultivation was not just demanding but also required instruction and sparring. Chen Dong was a madman who loved to spar with others. Let alone ten years, not fighting for ten days would have him itching all over. Back in the Heaven Execution Training Camp, he had fought everyone from the teachers to the students.
However, Xia Fei had no other options. Chen Dong had betrayed his master, so going back was tantamount to death.
They chatted for a long while; after which, Chen Dong said that he was tired and left to rest. Xia Fei gave him three days’ worth of medicine and told him to take them on schedule.
Once the door was closed, Xia Fei punched the thick alloy wall thirty times, the veins on his forehead bulging.
“I’ve reconciled with the fact that if I’m unlucky, but I’ve also dragged down Avril and Chen Dong!” Xia Fei cursed.
Phantom soothed. “How can you blame yourself? Blame Yu Hua for being too sinister, such that even you fell for his schemes! You’ve got to avenge yourself! Cultivate now while Oro is still around, and once you meet with success, take Yu Hua’s life!”
“That’s right. Complaining won’t do anything. At this point, I must take responsibility! While my seventh brain region still has all this energy, I’ll break into level 7 Law Sovereign tonight and then break into level 3 of the Law of Primal Chaos!”
The flames of revenge burned in Xia Fei’s eyes. This misfortune had not brought him down; instead, it incited his will to fight.
The more his enemies wanted to kill him, the more Xia Fei would return what had been done to him a hundredfold!
…
Just when he was about to sit down and begin cultivating, Lionheart King Oro suddenly asked, “That Chen Dong is your friend?”
“Yes.”
“He has nowhere to go?”
“Yes, I burdened him,” Xia Fei said, his brows creasing.
“Then send him to the Lionhearts,” Oro lightly said.
Xia Fei rolled his eyes. “The Lionhearts are of the Demon Race, which is opposed to the G.o.d Race. Humans have always been with the G.o.d Race, so sending Chen Dong to the Demon Race may not be very proper. Besides, your words probably don’t count now.”
Oro became slightly angry. “Who said that my words don’t hold weight? I might not have said anything then, but as long as I speak, my words will definitely count!”
Xia Fei ignored him. Rather than choosing not to speak out, it was more of the fact that Oro was scared of speaking out. His enemy had almost beaten him into a cripple; just how formidable would they have to be to do that? It would be bizarre for him to show his face before recovering his cultivation. It was not just seeking death; it was courting disaster, too!
“I’m telling you the truth,” Oro said with deadly earnestness. “Your relations.h.i.+p with that great grandson of mine, Heathfield, is rather good. Find him and he will definitely agree.”
“Surely not? He doesn’t owe me anything. Even though I saved his son, he bought Waning Moon’s Toll at several times its value. That debt has already been settled,” Xia Fei said.
“Fool! If you have Chen Dong go to the Lionhearts, you won’t be owing him. He will be owing you!” Oro rebuked.
“What do you mean?” Xia Fei asked in confusion.
“Chen Dong is a genius! A brilliant genius! In just two years, he’s already nearing the Law Emperor level! This advancement speed is comparable to yours, and he hasn’t had the resources of some wealthy clan all this while but was in the underworld. Any clan would value this kind of genius,” Oro excitedly said, his eyes almost spewing flames. From this, one could see that he truly had a high opinion of Chen Dong.
“How many people in the universe can advance at such an insane pace? Chen Dong definitely meets the standard genius; unfortunately, he joined the wrong faction and picked the wrong master. With us Lionhearts, if he had been provided with a limitless energy supply, he would have reached the Law Emperor realm long ago! If you send a genius like that to the Lionheart Race, they’d naturally be grateful to you!”
Xia Fei found that Oro’s argument made sense. Everyone knew that Chen Dong was a genius. Since he could not go back to the Law Realm, serving under the Demon Race was an option. This would both resolve the problem of Chen Dong’s future cultivation and also make the Lionheart Race owe Xia Fei a favor for recommending such an excellent candidate.
What was it that the Law Realm lacked the most? Geniuses! Moreover, if Chen Dong thrived in the Lionheart Race, Xia Fei would have another major source of a.s.sistance, this one from the Demon Race!
“In truth, it’ll be fine if you join the Lionhearts too. Heathfield has a rather high opinion of you,” Oro said, his eyes gleaming with a cunning light.
“Head to the Demon Race?” Xia Fei muttered. “Let me think about it some more. That’s a path with no return.”
As he spoke, Xia Fei slowly opened the two chests next to him.
