Chapter 756: An Attack Moving at Eight Hundred Thousand Meters Per Second
Perhaps because everyone was a woman and were similarly in difficult circ.u.mstances, so the three beauties, Xiaoyu, Moon Song, and Autumn Cicada, immediately felt an indescribable trust and good impression toward one another as soon as they met. Even the usually cold and indifferent Autumn Cicada gave Moon Song a slight nod, which could be considered a greeting of sorts.
Shan Jing and Shan Du practically drooled uncontrollably at this sight. Cute, beautiful, and icy. Any one of these three beauties would be top-cla.s.s, and when put together, they were gorgeous beyond comparison. Any man who conformed to his biological predilections would feel tempted.
Xiaoyu looked at how disgusting the two warriors from the Skybird Clan were acting and grew annoyed. Coldly snorting, she said, “The Snowdrift of the river of the stars, the Sisterhood shares in weal and woes. Do you know that you are about to make enemies of the Snowdrift Clan?”
These perfunctory words immediately had the Shan brothers turning pale; even Moon Song slightly frowned.
The Snowdrift Clan consisted entirely of women, and they considered themselves part of the Sisterhood. There were few blood relations between the members of the clan, and the vast majority were orphaned girls adopted from all across the universe. Of course, there were a few like Xiaoyu who had been compelled to join, but there were not too many of them, and this practice of the Snowdrift Clan was essentially unknown.
Xiaoyu had spoken a short saying of the Snowdrift Clan that everyone in the Law Realm knew. With these words, she had divulged that she and Autumn Cicada were from the Sisterhood and were n.o.ble members of the Snowdrift Clan.
“The Snowdrift Clan!” the Shan brothers shouted at the same time, immediately moving more than one hundred meters away. They looked at each and then rapidly flew off into the distant battlefield, not daring to turn their heads.
Although the Skybird Clan had a decent powerbase, it could not compare to the great clans of the White Horse Constellation. The mention of the Snowdrifts had their courage draining away. The battle between the Skywings and Moonwards had just concluded, and the several dozen Law Emperors both clans had mobilized left all of the minor clans quaking in their boots.
A starving camel was still bigger than a horse, and there was no questioning the power of the great clans. Not only had that battle raised the prestige of the Skywings, it had shown everyone in the Law Realm the difference between themselves and the great clans. At a key moment like this, a small clan like the Shans would never dare to touch anyone from the mighty Snowdrift Clan.
Moon Song turned around and bowed to Xiaoyu and Autumn Cicada in grat.i.tude. She suddenly saw that the armor of Xiaoyu and Autumn Cicada was rather dirty. It seemed like they had already fought with someone.
“You came from the south. What’s the situation there?” Moon Song curiously asked.
Xiaoyu shook her head. “Not very good. Fighting is everywhere. What about the north?”
Moon Song sighed. “About the same. The battlefield is chaotic. Some warriors have organized themselves into small groups that specifically target lone warriors, stealing whatever those people have on them. It’s as if those people didn’t come to the Ancient Battlefield of G.o.ds and Demons to search for the relics of the ancients but to steal from their comrades, instead.”
The three girls felt rather dejected. Even the unruly Moon Song was shaken by the chaos of the battlefield. This was nothing but daylight robbery, lacking any of the romance from treasure hunting.
Autumn Cicada looked to the west, a pensive look on her face. The Ancient Battlefield was immense, and it seemed to go on forever. Several thousand to ten thousand warriors in this place were barely noticeable.
“Young Miss, what are you looking at?” Xiaoyu curiously asked.
Autumn Cicada lightly replied, “It seems like an expert has appeared in the west. He’s incredibly strong. We are no match for him.”
Xiaoyu was stunned. She was well aware of Autumn Cicada’s strength. If even she felt that she was no match, then this opponent had to be at least a peak Law Emperor or even a Law Overlord! It must be understood that Autumn Cicada had already mentally combined her strength with Xiaoyu’s . Having worked together for many years, with one focusing on defense while the other on offense, both perfectly complemented each other.
“Then let’s head east and avoid those people who are too powerful,” Xiaoyu suggested.
Autumn Cicada simply nodded and gave no other comment. While she was the master, it was more often Xiaoyu who made the decisions. Autumn Cicada with her aloof personality was truly unsuitable to hold any leaders.h.i.+p role.
“Should we go together?” Xiaoyu asked Moon Song.
Moon Song was a very cheerful girl, so she immediately smiled. “Alright. My name is Moon Song. What about you two?”
“My name is Xiaoyu, and this person is Miss Autumn Cicada.”
“Xiaoyu?” Moon Song shrugged. She then muttered to herself, ‘I feel like I’ve heard that before.’
On the battlefield, the three girls cautiously and slowly moved east. Moon Song used her Illusion Law to create a layer of disguise, while Xiaoyu used her Amethyst Guard to protect them. Only Autumn Cicada did nothing, occasionally turning her head and worriedly looking to the west.
“Awoooo!”
The most mournful howl came from the far northwest!
…
Chaos reigned on the first day of the Ancient Battlefield’s opening. Xiaoyu, Autumn Cicada, and Moon Song had inadvertently met one another and formed their own little group, barely surviving amidst countless experts like a little boat adrift on the ocean.
Xia Fei had no idea about all this. He was currently focused on the Immemorial Mystical Armament, Scattered Star Chrysanthemum, in front of him.
It had seemingly rooted itself into the ground. Upon being attacked by Peac.o.c.k Blue’s initial probes, the Scattered Star Chrysanthemum had instantly become ma.s.sive, turning from a chrysanthemum into a skysc.r.a.ping tree.
its countless petals were densely packed like stars, simply innumerable; even more wondrous was that these star-shaped petals were constantly moving like the rapid flow of the river of stars. It was a dazzling and dizzying sight.
*Whoosh~*
Peac.o.c.k Blue never knew the meaning of giving up, so it probed the Scattered Star Chrysanthemum’s defenses once more. Four blades of gra.s.s enclosed it as Peac.o.c.k Blue resorted to its old tactic of strangling its opponent into submission!
*Whoos.h.!.+ Whoos.h.!.+ Whoos.h.!.+*
Starlight flowed out like sharp blades. The rapidly revolving petals of the Scattered Star Chrysanthemum were unimaginably sharp, swiftly leaving wounds on the leaves of Peac.o.c.k Blue. Green shreds of gra.s.s flew everywhere as Peac.o.c.k Blue’s long blades of gra.s.s were cut down. Even though they rapidly grew back, they could not keep up with the speed at which the Scattered Star Chrysanthemum dealt damage. With no other choice, Xia Fei had to withdraw Peac.o.c.k Blue. His brows furrowed.
“Such powerful defenses! Even subduing the Nine Night Plum wasn’t this difficult,” Xia Fei said in frustration.
Oro shrugged. “The Nine Night Plum was ranked sixth out of the Seven Plants of the Cloud Sea, while the Scattered Star Chrysanthemum is ranked fourth. Since their ranks are different, the difficulty would scale appropriately, too. Besides, the Scattered Star Chrysanthemum specializes in energy attacks. Take a look at the star-shaped petals. In truth, they’re made entirely of energy. In both attack and defense, it’s top-cla.s.s and evenly balanced between the two traits.”
Xia Fei nodded. He had already noticed that there was something different about those petals. Other plants bloomed flowers, but the Scattered Star Chrysanthemum bloomed with energy crystals!
His gaze chilled as he sternly said, “Everything has a weakness, and so must the Scattered Star Chrysanthemum! I just haven’t found it yet!”
“Again!” Xia Fei focused and started a new offensive!
…
In the control room, the Black and White G.o.ds were frantically searching for a flaw in the system, hoping to find a crack that would not alarm those undying old coots while still being big enough for them to send their two Divine Beasts inside.
It was a good idea, but it was difficult to execute. After all, this system was established in the ancient era, and there was no doc.u.mentation on its design and foundational principles that they could use as reference. As minutes went by, the two still had no idea on where to start.
Glancing at a screen, Old White frowned. “Look there. Sezsny is already displaying a formidable leaders.h.i.+p ability, gathering four Demon Race warriors at his side. It probably won’t be long until he has the battlefield under his complete control. When that time comes, our G.o.d Race warriors will be utterly annihilated!”
Old Black followed his brother’s gaze and saw a fat warrior leading four Demon Race warriors in a charge across the battlefield.
*Whoos.h.!.+*
A pudgy palm was slightly raised! A law attack shot out like a bolt of lightning!
In the distance, a warrior of the G.o.d Race was struck in the back before he even had time to flee and dropped to the ground with a *thump*.
“Haha! Another prey!”
Sezsny’s four followers hastily ran over and gave the dying warrior a good beating. After subjecting him to some inhuman torture, they slit his throat and spilled his blood across the black earth.
“Look! This is his spatial ring and weapon!” The four lackeys presented the spoils to Sezsny, but he did not even glance at them. Instead, he proudly raised his head and continued forward, leaving the lackeys in an awkward state. However, n.o.body dared to say a thing. After all, this was the infamous Lightning Hand Sezsny, an elite warrior of the Darkpearl Race who had just advanced to Law Overlord. There was no matching his momentum.
“Such a fast attack! He isn’t even bothered to use his Law of Mist Concealment,” Old White worriedly said. “At the moment of attack, his speed reached at least five hundred thousand meters per second! No one can dodge such a fast and abrupt attack.”
Old Black clenched his teeth and said with a shake of his head, “It’s not five hundred thousand but eight hundred thousand, instead.”
Old White was stunned and stared at the screen once more. Though the two brothers liked to argue, Old White had to admit that his older brother’s eyes were better than his. If he said that it was eight hundred thousand meters per second, then it had to be the case! That speed was almost seven times faster than Xia Fei’s fastest speed!
“Stop staring and get to work. I have no plans on watching as all our G.o.d Race juniors get ma.s.sacred.” Old Black buried his head back into his work. He darkly muttered, “Keep the obscenity to yourself for now. I’ll definitely take action if I can’t stand watching anymore; you’d better not complain about me dragging you down when that time comes.”
Old White was startled. He knew how stubborn his older brother was. When he said that he was going to do something, he definitely would do it. Old White shook his head with a bitter chuckle, walked up to Old Black, and began to work, his hands flying.
…
It had been four days, and Xiaoyu’s two ponytails were completely undone. She wiped a hand across her sweaty forehead and came away with a streak of black.
Autumn Cicada hastily used a towel to wipe Xiaoyu’s face clean, seemingly very heartbroken.
Even the capable Moon Song was having a hard time, her chest heaving, her teeth clenched, and her body drenched in sweat.
“It’s all my fault. I can’t believe someone saw through my Law of Illusion,” Moon Song glanced at the two bodies on the ground and said grimly. As time went on, the lone warriors had gradually been wiped out. They had encountered nothing but battle groups of various numbers, but none of them could be underestimated.
Xiaoyu hurriedly shook her head. “If not for Sister Moon Song’s Law of Illusion, we would be attacked many times. One of these people was a warrior who knew the Law of Perception, so you couldn’t be blamed for him being able to see through it.”
Moon Song had come to like the cute Xiaoyu more and more over the last few days. She was just a very likeable person, and anyone would feel compelled to pinch her pretty face.
As for Autumn Cicada, Moon Song disliked her. Xiaoyu kept calling her ‘Young Miss’ and was always respectful to her, but at crucial moments, Autumn Cicada did nothing, simply coldly watching from the sidelines. Otherwise, there was no way Moon Song and Xiaoyu would have been in such a bad state after fighting these two rather average opponents.
Moon Song placed a hand on her waist and took out two cuc.u.mbers from her bosom. She gave one to Xiaoyu, while she took a big bite out of the other, angrily glaring at Autumn Cicada in the meantime.
The innocent look on Autumn Cicada’s face left Moon Song furious, but she had nowhere to vent her rage.
Suddenly, as Moon Song was pondering on how to rebuke Autumn Cicada, she saw a flash of concern on Autumn Cicada’s icy-cold face.
