BOOM BANG BANG BANG…
Gunfire, explosions, death; Simon never actually intended for such a lucky outcome. Such a thing happening was out of the picture when he began planning. He indeed had sent his men to retrieve a spirit beast for the sake of destroying the demonic sect, but the demonic sect had begun killing themselves without him! How unfair. He had already done all of this work to create a build up in anger and influenced them to attack his main camp, only for them to split apart and enter a suicidal internal conflict.
Just like that, Simon had somehow won a war without even fighting the final battle. The outcome was apparent the very next morning when a scout returned to inform Simon of the destruction of the demonic sect. After waiting for an entire night for the demonic sect to take the bait and attack the base, Simon had become very agitated and extremely annoyed at the failed plan. And all of a sudden, he received this piece of news. His tactics were so vile that the demonic sect split and ended up destroying itself with no survivors.
Simon had finished the trial with the best possible outcome. Not even a single soldier had been lost in the war against the demonic sect. Everyone had remained healthy throughout the entire war and it did not even last a month.
"Are you sure?!" Simon asked with a shocked expression, shaking the scout"s arms persistently.
"Yes, General! The war is won and we can return to the sect!"
"THE WAR IS WON!!! THE WAR IS WON!!! THE WAR IS WON!!!"
The soldiers began chanting in unison as they all opened jugs of wine, drinking away like it was high tide.
"We have brought endless glory to the sect. Rest well everyone, and make sure to pack up for our trip home tomorrow." Simon smiled, announcing he green light for everyone to celebrate.
"Heh… wonderful, just wonderful."
From above the clouds, a group of immortals watched the scene below with eyes full of surprise. Never in their long lives have they ever seen such a fearsome and overbearing tactic for winning a war against a demonic sect. Enraging the enemy with pit traps? Causing them to split from humiliation and fear? And all of this without losing a single soldier.
"Junior Brother Wu, you have indeed found a wonderful elder for the Divine Tempest Sect. I congratulate you on your growing insight and ever expanding wisdom. May your second recommendation be just as refres.h.i.+ng as your first." Elder Mu Zi clasped his hands and respectfully addressed Wu Zhong.
"Fate brought him to our sect. One way or another, he would have come here anyway. Do not over praise me for something that is bound by fate." Wu Zhong mystically replied with the aura of a wise ancestor.
"To think that he caused the sect to split apart and destroy themselves. This is just too overbearing. I completely support Hui Ge Dong"s appointment as an elder of the Divine Tempest Sect! A young man like Hui cannot be found anywhere else. We must make him an elder before another sect tries to steal him away!"
"I agree! Hui Ge Dong is now a brother of mine. From now on, whoever wants to fight Hui Ge Dong, needs to go through me!" A muscular elder announced with a clenched fist.
"He did not even use his gun throughout the entire war… this is just too fearsome indeed, Senior Brother Mu. We should give him the charge of the sect"s armies from now on. He is perfect for commanding legions of warriors and keeping them alive. Perhaps he can defeat a Nascent Soul cultivator by only using a Foundation Building soldier, who knows?"
"Sect Patriarch, what do you think?" Mu Zi asked.
"I think that Junior Brother Hui should be in charge of all combat operations run by our sect. However, I understand that since he is still full of youth, he may desire for leisure time. Therefore, I appoint him as the Elder who will oversee the training of our warriors. War operations will still be a joint duty of all elders and me, the sect patriarch." The patriarch waved his hand and gave his final ultimatum on the matter.
"From now on, address him as Junior Brother Hui. And the elder deserves to be a brother or sister to all of us." Do not let his cultivation fool you, he is a wise and cunning tactician that knows how to operate a war room better than I can. We must make sure to cultivate him properly so he can ascend to immortality and become a pillar of the sect." The patriarch finished his address and flew back to the sect.
"Did you hear that? Junior Brother Hui is now an elder! Junior Brother Wu is the most wise of us all! He can spot a talent from a kilometre away! No, 10 kilometres away!"
"Hahah…"
The elders all laughed and talked about the events before eventually leaving towards the sect. Although Simon"s results were indeed so amazing that all elders could not help but be in awe, they still understood that they had duties at the sect. It is time for them to work and work is more important than chatter.
"I wonder how Blue will do tomorrow." Simon sat leaning on a tree stump and patted his newly acquired Azure Tiger.
After being caught by Simon"s soldiers, the tiger was brought to Simon as he waited for the arrival of the enemy forces. As stated before, the enemy forces never came and the tiger never really left. Therefore, Simon was left with a Nascent Soul stage tiger that kept on sleeping at his feet.
It felt like a clingy toddler. Simon just could not get rid of it, so he ended up keeping it as his first ever pet.
"I will name you… Meowtin." Simon patted his huge 1.5 metre tall tiger and fed it some rabbit feet.
"Good boy… now eat more of these and you will grow up to be very strong, or not grow and just become strong."
The tiger ate from Simon"s hand and licked any sc.r.a.ps clean.
"Meow~!" The tiger rolled over and stuck its tongue out like a dog.
"Do you want a belly rub?" Simon felt confused. Usually only dogs want belly rubs, so why was a majestic tiger asking for one?"
The tiger nodded its head and meowed as Simon scratched its belly and rubbed it smoothly.
"Such a high maintenance pet. Maybe Dahlia would like it. Dahlia likes cute things. She might like riding on top of a majestic tiger instead of some normal horse." Simon pondered on this thought before looking at the tiger again.
"Hey, do you think you can take care of children?" Simon asked with a serious expression.
"Meow!" The tiger nodded and kowtowed as if asking for mercy.
"Good, you will be my daughter"s mount. I shall name you Kitty because you need to have a cute name to be my cute daughter"s mount!"
"Meow!" The tiger gave a satisfied expression before rolling over again to express its sincere happiness in becoming Simon"s "subordinate".
"This human won"t even let me become his direct subordinate. Instead, I am his daughter"s mount? I, an honourable spirit beast of great stature, have come and offered myself to be under your service and you give me to your daughter?! Actually, that is rather respectable. Any good father would a.s.sign their best subordinate to protect their family. I can respect this master with pride now, I serve a master that treats his family well!"
"Meow!"
"Oh such a cute little kitty cat!" Simon pulled on Kitty"s ears and rubbed his belly.
"Tomorrow I will buy some fish for you to eat! Be a good cat and I will add quails and duck into the mix!"
"Meow meow!" Kitty jumped up and down out of excitement.
"Quail? Duck? FISH? All I can find in this stupid forest is BOARS!!! I HATE BOARS!!! I HATE PORK!!! I CAN"T STAND IT!!! I have not eaten anything but spirit boar for the last century. Why am I so bad at hunting anything else? I am a venerable Azure Tiger… and yet I cannot even find fish."
"It seems Kitty likes fish, I will remember that when we celebrate my big promotion. There will be more than enough fish, so much that you will not be able to eat for weeks."
As an Azure Tiger of n.o.ble stature, Kitty had much pride. But after a century of only eating wild spirit boar meat, Kitty couldn"t care less about pride. He now serves a master that could provide him with a wide array of tasty cuisine. If he behaves well enough, Kitty might even get some poultry dishes as a bonus.
This is the beginning of Kitty"s journey as Dahlia"s mount, a journey that would make him feel so warm inside that his predatory instincts could subside.
