Chapter 1003: The Robot (4)
“Why are you here?” w.a.n.g Mandy asked in shock upon seeing Aunty w.a.n.g. Her voice was too loud, and she woke Tiny Rice Ball from his dream.
The child was awakened by w.a.n.g Mandy’s hoa.r.s.e voice. Scared, he began to cry.
Aunty w.a.n.g quickly picked up Tiny Rice Ball and said to w.a.n.g Mandy, “I’m always here, Young Miss. I was in the bathroom was.h.i.+ng the young master’s clothes.”
Every newly brought infant clothing would be carefully washed by Aunty w.a.n.g before it was given to Tiny Rice Ball to wear. She would only dress the baby in it when she was sure that it was clean. Before, Aunty w.a.n.g had been in the bathroom was.h.i.+ng the clothes.
w.a.n.g Mandy looked warily at Aunty w.a.n.g. Her expression made Aunty w.a.n.g feel fearful. She hadn’t done anything wrong, so why was the young miss glaring at her like this?
“I was on the phone just then. Did you hear anything?” w.a.n.g Mandy asked in a low voice.
Aunty w.a.n.g shook her head. “I only heard the sound of the young master’s toy, so I came out to check on him. Then, I heard the sound of you talking in the playroom, but I didn’t hear what you were saying. I was always watching the young master and didn’t pay any attention to your conversation.”
Aunty w.a.n.g was speaking the truth. She wasn’t in the habit of eavesdropping on the family’s phone calls. Therefore, when she heard w.a.n.g Mandy on the phone, she found some things to busy herself with. She had been busy placing the newly washed clothes in the sun to dry and did not pay any attention to what w.a.n.g Mandy was saying.
However, Aunty w.a.n.g was concealing something. In reality, she had overheard the young miss mention something about revenge. However, she hadn’t been paying much attention.
However, seeing the young miss’s anxious look, it seemed as though the contents of the phone call should not have been overheard.
Thinking this, Aunty w.a.n.g once again emphasized, “Really, Young Miss. I didn’t hear anything. I was drying the clothes the entire time.”
w.a.n.g Mandy stared at Aunty w.a.n.g for a while. She didn’t look like she was lying. Then, she thought back to the conversation she just had with w.a.n.g Manpeng.
She hadn’t said anything that would draw someone’s suspicions, besides the word revenge.
w.a.n.g Mandy thought about this, and her stern expression relaxed. She looked at Aunty w.a.n.g’s who seemed to feel wronged. In order not to attract any unwanted problems, w.a.n.g Mandy controlled her temper. She laughed and said, “Aunty w.a.n.g, don’t be offended. I have an obsessive disorder and am easily anxious. Forgive me.”
Aunty w.a.n.g felt a little unsure of w.a.n.g Mandy’s sudden change in att.i.tude, and she frantically nodded. “It’s fine, Young Miss. I understand that you’re not in a good mood. I’m really fine.”
Aunty w.a.n.g nodded. She had to show she was fine. She was an aunty who was here to take care of the child. If she wanted to continue staying here, then she must curry favor with the “child’s mother!”
w.a.n.g Mandy relaxed, and she walked in front of Aunty w.a.n.g and patted her shoulder. “Aunty w.a.n.g, you work hard. Tiny Rice Ball cannot be without you. As a new mom, I don’t know anything. When I wasn’t here, you took really good care of Tiny Rice Ball. We’re lucky to have you. I need to properly thank you.”
For some reason, no matter how much Aunty w.a.n.g looked at the young miss, she felt frightened.
Hearing these words, Aunty w.a.n.g repeatedly nodded. “This is what I’m here to do, what I should do….”
w.a.n.g Mandy smiled, satisfied and then she left the nursery. She had not even glanced at Tiny Rice Ball the entire time she had been in there.
