"Well, isn"t this curious?"Yin muttered after using her magic item to examine what type of demon her young guest was.
She was wearing a red kimono that did nothing to conceal her curvaceous figure.
Yin was a black fox type demon.
Her long black hair flowed behind her, while on top of her head were two foxlike ears.
She had five black tails that seemed to be as soft as they were ma.s.sive.
From a drop of blood, her magic item could accurately tell the exact species of any creature.
And the result was as clear as day: Crow Demon.
"A crow type, huh. Not exactly a common type of demon."
"If I am not wrong, crow demons are on the brink of extinction….The last crow demon sighting recorded was more than nine hundred years ago. Though, there was one, about twenty or so years ago…."
His name was Ymit Karatengu, a crow demon from the realm of Sulum, who was stranded in the human world of Alem.
Yin remembered that demon; he once had saved her life.
To her, he was one of the few she considered her close friends.
"And this child seems to be less than two decades old…considering there aren"t many crow demons around…could he be Ymit"s son?"
Examining the young man"s face, Yin smiled.
"He looks like Ymit, the resemblance is undeniable. From the texture of the skin to the black of his hair…he is Ymit"s son, alright"
In the human kingdom, the common hair colors were blond and brown.
Black haired people tended to stand out from the crowds.
Then, the young man"s eyes opened.
His left eye was brown while his right eye was glowing with eerie white light.
"Where am I?"
"In my house"
Looking around, young man asked.
"Am I a prisoner?"
"No, simply a guest. I found you unconscious outside my territory. You were in a little rough shape, so I patched you up a little. Here"
She offered him a bowl with green solution in it, for some reason the bowl was floating in the air.
He looked at it suspiciously.
"It"s medicine. I am herbalist"
Even then, he did not drink it.
"I a.s.sure you, it is not poison." She took a sip from it. "See?"
"You have horns." He looked alarmed. "You are a demon, aren"t you?" He asked.
"Indeed, I am a demon"
"Then let me ask you this, why would a demon give me medicine instead of poison?"
"I am simply lending a hand to a fellow demon"
"Fellow demon?"
"Don"t you know? You are a demon"
Yin stated in a matter of factly manner.
"Please don"t be ridiculous…."
He immediately stopped talking when Yin took out a mirror and he saw himself in it.
Now that he saw his reflection, it was obvious he was panicking.
A single horn protruded from his forehead.
An even more alarming phenomenon was his right eye glowing white.
"What…What is happening to me?!"
"Calm down, it"s a simple horn. Every demon has one, well, usually two, but in your case it seems to be a single horn."
"What have you done to me?"
"Nothing. You were like this when I found you"
Holding on to his face with his left hand, young man was breathing heavily.
"But that would mean I…I am…I am…"
"A demon. Indeed. Just like me"
Yin was not sure why he was having such an adverse reaction to the revelation.
It was as if it was his first time seeing his horn and demon eye.
"Why me?"
"What do you mean, child?"
"Why do this kind of things always happen to me? First I lose a hand, and then I end up with a crystal parasite stuck to me, and now you are saying I am a demon. You might as well hang and quarter me!"
"No need to over exaggerate, little one. None of us choose what we are born as."
"But if I am a demon, that means humans are going to…"
"They will most likely hunt you down and kill you. Unfortunately, our kind does not fare well in this human world."
"How could this happen? I was a human before I woke up so how…"
"Judging by your reaction, you most likely had a magic cast on you to conceal your horn. And now, for one reason or another, the magic was dispelled, making you revert to your true form."
Seeing that he was still trembling, Yin tried to comfort him.
"Rest a.s.sured, it is not exactly unusual. Your father was a demon as well"
"My father? I have a father? What do you mean? I don"t remember having a father"
"Oh, goodness, Ymit, where the h.e.l.l are you when we need you? Uuuuhh…" Yin muttered in annoyance.
"The point is, your father was a demon. And naturally, you are a demon as well; it is in your blood"
"I see…." He did not exactly believe her, but considering he just found himself with a horn, that explanation was most plausible.
"Then….who are you?"
"My name is Yin. I am an old friend of your father."
She put her hand underneath her chin in thought.
"Which would make me something like an Aunt to you? Aunty Yin, yeah, I like the sound of that."
Young man saw a cup of tea and plate floating nearby; he was not exactly sure what was going on. The fox demon in front of him was strange as well.
"Oh, don"t worry, it is just my magic. "Animation", I can make anything within a certain range move according to my will, even make them float if I concentrate hard enough"
"It is strange"
"There are stranger things in the world" Yin smiled.
"Very true"
He couldn"t help but gaze at her five ma.s.sive tails.
Yep, she was not a human, all right.
"In that case, allow me to introduce myself, properly this time. I am Yin, but you can call me Aunty Yin. What is your name?"
"Bakit. My name is Bakit"
