Tale Of A Knight

Chapter 26

"…Ooohhh, my head…" Bakit scratched his forehead with his only hand; it hurt so much, almost as if he was ran over by a horse drawn carriage and then dropped down from a great height.

However, the pain would have to wait for there were far more pressing matters at hand, such as, his current location.

He was resting on top a luxurious bed, still completely clothed, with a soft blanket covering him.

But looking around, seeing that he was inside of an unfamiliar room, he couldn"t help but feel a slight sense of dread.

"Where am I? Don"t tell me…Did I sneak into Sala"s bed again? Aurelia will kill me!"

Just imagining that crazy elven maid brandishing her battle axe was enough for Bakit to instantly sober up from his dream-like state.

He quickly checked the inside of the covers, dreading the possibility that the Prince he served might be his companion in bed yet again.

It seems like that was not the case.

There was none else on the bed.

Bakit breathed a sigh of relief.

"On a closer inspection, this place does not resemble Sala"s mansion, not even close."

The inside of the room was decorated with many embroidered fabrics and luxurious metal ornaments. It was obvious this house belonged to a n.o.ble family, at the very least.

"The only n.o.bleman"s mansion I know of is Sala"s mansion, so then, where the heck am I? How did I get here?"

Then a realization hit him.

He was kidnapped.

"I need to get out of here!"

Not paying any more attention than needed, he bolted straight towards the door.

Yet, he found himself within a hallway that seemed to stretch into infinity.

The mansion was simply that large and for someone who was unfamiliar with it, it was quite easy to get lost.

And that"s exactly what he did.

From one room to the next, he would open the doors but all were not the exit he was looking for.

"Just how many bedrooms does this mansion have for goodness sake! And an entire room devoted to bad artwork? Don"t they at least have any weapons?"

As soon as he opened the door to the latest room, he found a single dagger in a sheath held by a statue of a person holding out her hands.

"Perfect! I don"t care if it is used as a decoration, but it is still a weapon!"

Using his left hand, he unsheathed the dagger.

Yep, that was a bonafide dagger all right.

If someone attacks him, at least he would be able to defend himself.

Now with a dagger in hand, he searched for the exit out of the unfamiliar mansion.

But, as luck would have it, he ended up body-slamming into the maid who was pa.s.sing by.

Her dress was colored in a combination of crimson and black. Yet, her hair was the color of pure silver grey as were her eyes. She might have been around Bakit"s age, if not slightly older.

Both of them were swept off their feet, and Bakit ended up falling on top of her.

Quickly regaining consciousness, Bakit asked in the most polite way he could muster.

"Milady, would you be so kind to tell me, where am I?"

"Uhhhm, well….." Her face was completely red.

"C"mon, just spit it out~!" Bakit was slowly losing his patience, not realizing the reason she was not quick to answer him was because he was literally on top of her. It was embarra.s.sing position to say the least.

"Bakit! What are you doing here!?" A voice rang out.

Turning his head, Bakit saw a familiar of a crazy n.o.ble knight who chased after him within the city.

It was a man with Platinum white hair and golden eyes, Aristan Leon, of that there was no doubt.

"I can ask you the same question"

"This is Aristan family"s mansion, I live here!"

"Then how come I am here?"

"I am asking you that!"

"Oyoya, so our guest finally woke up, heh?" an elderly man entered Bakit"s view. From the wrinkles on his face and the bald spots on his head, it was quite obvious he was very old.

He was wearing a traditional grey kimono with flower decorations.

But the most striking thing about him were his eyes and hair, they were practically same as Leon"s.

From his appearance, it was obvious they were relatives.

"Grandfather! What is the meaning of this?"

"Oh, seems like Sulu did not inform you, did she? She brought him into the mansion to introduce him to us, of course, and it seems like he already accepted the proposal."

Accepted the proposal? What the heck is he talking about?

"Uhm, milord, if you wouldn"t mind…" the maid was still pinned under Bakit, who just realized that this might be a little awkward.

"Oops" Bakit proceeded to stand up.

The maid stood up as well, flushed red all over.

"Young man, my name is Aristan Lonrow, and from the looks of things I am your future grandfather in-law."

"What are you talking about?" Bakit finally asked.

"The dagger in your hand, it is a ceremonial dagger symbolizing the engagement. You taking hold of the dagger means that you have accepted the proposal." Leon explained.

"Wait…accepted the proposal? Engagement?! To who?!"

"To Jansulu, of course"

"So let me get this straight, I am now…."

"Engaged to Jansulu. You are now officially her fiancé." Leon"s statement made Bakit feel as though ants were crawling around his spine.

What the h.e.l.l is happening?

What happened to my life?

Why do strange things seem to always happen without my input?

"What?" Bakit could only mutter with his mouth wide open.

Then, he found himself in the arms of a certain maiden who was hugging him as though he was a plushy toy.

"Darling, you are finally awake!"

Though any man would have enjoyed the sensation of being hugged by such a beauty, Bakit was in no state of mind to enjoy it.

Instead, his eyes only reflected a sense of dread.

"How did this happen?"
