Tear A Path

Chapter 114

When Zhao Wei pa.s.sed by that group, he could actually feel a little pity for them. On the other hand he was also conflicted, he thought he"d feel proud, there was no greater complement than people just giving themselves up because they knew they were facing extremely impossible odds. And yet at the same time, there was an itch he couldn"t scratch. He"d really wanted to let loose, he hadn"t been able to do so ever sine his training.

He"d built and trained and built and trained, but really there was a little side of him that wanted to see what he could really do. At first when he saw the hundreds of people coming for him he felt a little ecstatic and thought that maybe he should"ve prepared a little more just in case. But the flaming silk trap in the dark had wiped out at least half of them.

Since he started training with Guru he"d only met people he couldn"t attack full on. It was always against people he had to hold back against like the guards and even Thirteen because he knew she was Eyisha"s underling at first.

Up till this point he hadn"t even used his Tantra to the full extent of it"s capabilities, always applying it and his strength to the bare minimum to avoid death. He couldn"t go against Guru because the gap was way to high that it"d be almost like Guru was playing with a child.

He couldn"t believe it but he really missed the forest, somewhere deep inside he felt the beast that was formed breaking against it"s chains. Even now he kept feeding it constantly and even teaching that side how to become a more efficient killer, but every moment his common sense restrained that side of him.

Who wouldn"t be p.i.s.sed when people tried to catch him, who wouldn"t want to kill people that hurt their friends, who wouldn"t want to destroy the people that used them. Every time he fought since he"d been in Dracas, he wanted to rip them to shreds. It frustrated him to no end the fact that all of them died by his traps or gave up when they survived.

He stepped down into the alley, right in front of those men who gave up, in their eyes there wasn"t even a shred of despair, they already knew their fate.

"Which side are you from?" Zhao Wei asked. In their eyes his solemn tone and tired eyes depicted anger but they didn"t understand what was in his heart, if they did they probably would"ve bowed in surrender. "You still want us to put up a fight after all that?... You must be kidding me!!"

They considered what they should do in this situation, on one hand they had already considered themselves dead man walking anyway as even if the guy let them go, their employers would probably finish the job. On the other hand there was a slight bit of pride in them that wanted to give Zhao Wei the finger and ask him to do his worst.

Just as they were going to land on a decision Zhao Wei had already interrupted their train of thought, "You know what... I don"t really care, just tell your employers to come collect the bodies before the street stinks up, I"m working with a restaurant and it would really affect business if the customers were scared away..."

Without waiting for their reply he simply started moving away. He instructed each survivor to do the same and left for the shack.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Though they did a lot of dirty work, none of these guys were idiots, if they walked up into their headquarters and went "Hey!! so I failed the mission and all of my brothers in arms were killed in the process!" there was no way the rest of their lives were going to be easy.

Most of them just disappeared, trying to make themselves as scant as possible. With many unrecognizable bodies there hopefully their own organization would have a hard time tracking them. Some of them were more afraid of Zhao Wei than anything else and were to frightened not to follow his orders, so they gave a letter to any random children they found in the streets and asked them to inform the guards before walking away themselves.

In the castle Eyisha was having the greatest headache she had experienced since the change. All day long at least 12 reports came from her servants about last night, all anonymous tips from a random stranger. Not only was it news to her but since the messengers were children, many of them told their friends or uncles or even parents. Now civilians were pa.s.sing on rumors of a recent blood bath near a certain restaurant.

Some were so curious they even started looking. The only good thing was that Jeff"s noodle shop was almost completely unknown to everyone else except Guru and a few other people, so they had time to clean up before anybody came around and confirmed the situation.

As she began receiving reports on the bodies they found and the number of her own subordinates who became a casualty in the battle her face visibly blanched. It"d only been an hour in but a quarter of her own men were identified, that wasn"t even including those who were completely turned into mulch, they were only identified by left over pieces of clothing or armor which were intrinsic to her own squads.

If the numbers kept rising it would really put a giant dent in her man power.
