Tear A Path

Chapter 263

"I"ve won." Alos announced as he held Ode"s weapon and shield.

"Shut up you little p.r.i.c.k." Ode said as he threw a kick.

Alos dodged it without any trouble, a smile lingering on his face. That kick wasn"t meant to hit anyway, it was to tell him to stop playing around. In fact Alos felt a lot more pressure coming off the old guy despite him losing his weapons. "Do I look like I"m knocked out?" Ode spoke as he stretched his arms.

"No." Alos replied with a smiled, this guy was crazy.

He threw away the shield and sword and dashed to confront Ode. Without his great sword in tow, the captain"s speed was at least three times as fast, closing in on Ode in fractions of a second. Landing at Ode"s flank, he could watch at his speed while Ode was still turned towards where he once stood.

At this range he just needed to reach his punch and it would land on Ode"s sides and ribs without much problem. But before his punch could even be thrown, his vision went black.

In the next moment, it had returned but Alos found himself facing the sky as he was moving rapidly backwards. Somehow, Ode had caught his head before he could deliver a blow and had flung him across the stage, landing him right next to where he had left his great sword sticking out of the ground.

The message was clear and simple. "You"d better pick up your weapon or you"re going to regret it." Somehow, sometime during this match their positions had changed, and now, he felt like the challenger instead of the old man.

He pulled the sword from the ground and held it in his natural pose, but even with the hefty weapon back in his hand he did not feel as a.s.sured as he was when this match started. Somehow, he had questioning who was the injured party in this fight.

In the next moment it had started again. He jumped forward, body first, allowing his body weight and momentum pull his sword forward, braking in the middle of the motion, to have the swords weight come around front and slash at Ode from the side.

This attack was faster and heavier than anything he"d thrown so far in this match, even if Ode had retained ownership of his shield it probably would"ve split apart after this strike. In his mind, if there was anything that would make the old man concede, it would be to see the difference in their powers.

But the old man didn"t budge. Despite seeing this attack coming, he had maintained his sword and shield. "Sh#t!" he thought, his normal attacks could"ve probably cleaved him in two, much less this one. The point of this spar was to fulfill an empty position, he"d doubt if the guy could fit any kind of position with only half his body. But with this pose, even if he wanted to pull back the great sword it was already too late, even he couldn"t stop something with all his weight behind it.

But just before it would be too late for him to move, Ode did, drawing a sigh from Alos, though not in the way he expected. Instead of moving to dodge the sword, Ode moved towards it instead, bringing his sword arm above his head as if he still had a weapon n it.

Everyone from Alos to all the captain"s spectating and Grendolyn included blanched at the sight of this. Then the hand came down.

In an instant, it seemed as if all noise in everyone"s ears were replaced by the sound of singing. Most weren"t able to see what happened when the hand came down as a shock wave of wind and dust a.s.saulted their eyes. Even also found himself befuddled by what was going on, one moment he was holding his sword, and the next it had left his hands completely.

The craziest thing was that the sword was now fully embedded into the ground, it"s shape firmly etched into the ground while it lay in the center. Ode"s fist was held in mid air, a streak of blood dripping from where the flesh had broken apart from such an impact.

It took a while for the first person to register that Ode had parried the great sword by hitting it"s side while mid swing, and in spectacular fashion at that. Even after their ear began to work and they everyone was able to follow up on what had happened, neither side had yet to make a move.

Everyone wondered what was going on until one of the contenders spoke, "I lost..." Ode spoke drawing a heavy breath. This announcement sent the chaotic minds of the spectator"s into a further spiral. Both sides had taken away the other side"s weapon, if anything Ode did it much better than his opponent so why did the battle end in such a result.

Only three people in the place knew what was going on. Ode, Alos and Travis. though it seemd that they were tied in the battle at this point, Ode could no longer move. Looking at his teacher and his rival Travis couldn"t help but marvel at both sides.

His teacher had used the method pa.s.sed around in the Charging Bulls squad. The perk was that although it didn"t exactly give a boost of overall physique, in battle it somehow constantly pushed a warrior to become stronger, faster and more brutal. It was almost like a constantly increasing shot of adrenaline in battle. And the harder and longer the fight, the more the effects grew.

It was why Ode was having trouble at the beginning of battle, the longer they fought, and the tougher a fight Alos gave him, the tougher an opponent he became. On the other hand, if Alos had pulled out his moves at the beginning of the fight, it was hard to say if Ode could actually last this long and turn this into such a close fight.

He also found himself amazed at his rival. In war, he had only seen Ode pull out this kind of strength when they were out numbered one to a thousand. He had drawn out of Ode the kind of strength he"d pull out if he had to face an army all by himself.

Alos just looked at his opponent and smiled, "It"s a draw." He spoke before turning around and walking off stage, not waiting for a retort to his statement. If anyone had any qualms about either Ode or Grendolyn should take up a position of leadership, they had none now.
