Susan felt the entire world collapsing on her. It took her a very long time before she recovered from the shock. She couldn"t imagine Steve resting in the arms of another woman. Susan would only be having the thought of Steve in her heart, but she will never have him again in her arms. How could she easily forget the good time they shared together and the love he showed her? Each time she remembered the very night Steve proposed to her, it"s always a torment to her.She was like a child who had been craving for his mother"s breast but immediately she wanted to suck, somebody took her away. Or like a chick that has been longing for its mother"s protection, but at the sight of its mother, a hawk took it away. Life gave her an option to either marry the man she loved and gave birth to sickle-cell children or kiss him goodbye.
If she insisted on marrying him, she knew she would be the one to bear the pains later, and all the blame would go to her and by then the love they have for each other will die slowly. Susan had to think about the future. The implications of marrying each other were much and so they parted ways. Do you think she was so foolish to let the man that truly loved her go? Don"t you think it would be more foolish and stupid to marry him, but give birth to sickle cell children?
No matter the love they have for each other, when that time comes, Steve will definitely change; he will start avoiding her, stop coming home, and because he"s a man, he would be keeping late and even decide to marry another wife. He would have nothing much to lose, but as for Susan, she will lose a lot. She will lose all her children while Steve will marry another woman who would give him children. By then age may not be by her side, and must have reached menopause, but Steve can still impregnate a woman at any age.
What causes women to cry is due to living in a society where a woman is blamed when a marriage fails, and men are easily justified in any action they take. Most cultures and traditions don"t basically favor women but men. If a woman is caught with another man, it will be a taboo, but when a man is caught with a woman, it will be men"s world, and some would be proud to tell how they go about sleeping with anything in a skirt.
The tears of a woman are something only the nature has explanation to. Susan tried to find out why women cry a lot in life but she could not fathom the reason. She wondered if there was anything women did special that made them to always pay for everything. "Was it because of what happened in the Garden of Eden? Was it because the serpent deceived the woman? What actually brings tears of a woman?" Susan mused.
Whenever Susan sees a pregnant woman a lot of thought would be going on in her mind that after a man and woman would finish having s.e.x, and they both enjoyed the pleasure together, the man will drop the seed in her and leaves, but the woman will carry it for a period of nine months; and throughout the period of the pregnancy, she will be the only one suffering while the man will be somewhere enjoying himself. If he happens to be a troublesome husband and he comes back in the evening but his food is not yet ready, he will scold the woman and call her a lazy wife. If he"s just a friend or a boyfriend, he would go his way gallivanting with other women out there while the one he impregnated bears the pains alone. Susan believed that women always cry in everything; starting from the time she breaks her virginity till the pregnancy period, it"s always pains.
Susan never stopped imagining the type of tears women shed when in labor, the pains and the injury they sustain. And when the child is born, it will be another marathon of hard work and sleepless nights; The man will either be sleeping or watching television in the sitting room while the woman will be with the child in the next room. The child determines when the mother will sleep and the number of hours she will sleep.
She had heard women discussing what life was like when they finally got to bed. The mother sleeps when the child sleeps; Sometimes as the child is sleeping, she will use the opportunity to do laundry, tidy up the room, cook and wash dishes, and when she is too weak to do it, and the husband comes home, he would be seeing her as a lazy and dirty woman. People see a broken home as the cause of woman. Women always bear the blame when things go wrong. All these were not what Susan would suffer for years and at the end of the day she would start losing the children and all her effort for years would be in vain. So it was a wise decision to let Steve go.
It was a painful decision she made that really hurt her like never before. She won"t be foolish and selfish to only think about the love she has for Steve without thinking about the implications, the future of their children and their joy. If she had made the mistake of marrying him, it would be a lifetime mistake which she knew she would be the one to be blamed.
Susan questioned life for not being fair to women. She was one of the women whose eyes were always full of tears and her heart always full of questions but, no one to wipe her tears and answer her question each time she saw things that caused women to cry. She wondered why if a relationship fails, women would bear the blame and cry a lot, and if marriage also fails, they cry and bear the burden alone. Susan kept asking herself why in school, a man will never be rusticated for impregnating a woman, but once a woman gets pregnant, she would be asked to withdraw. The man who got her pregnant will go free and graduate, but the woman will be forced to drop.
Lois, the mother of Susan saw her talking to herself but Susan did not know her mother was listening to what she was saying. She waited to hear what she was mumbling. Looking devastated and lost in thought Susan asked, "Have you seen where a woman cries because she was raped by a beast that could not control himself?" The mother peeped to see who she was talking to but she saw n.o.body and that was when she knew something was bothering her daughter, but still Lois did not want to make her presence known so that she would fully understand or see who her daughter was talking with.
Susan continued, "It always hurts. The bad memory never goes away. Years after when the guy must have forgotten that he once raped a woman, she would still be battling with the sad memory. The mental agony is not something one can easily forget. Women"s life is always at stake irrespective of her age, and no matter how promising a woman"s future is, if care is not taken a man may decide her fate. "Does the cry of a woman have an end?" she asked again. The mother started wondering if her daughter was raped, but still, she did not make her presence known.

Celina had an uncle who was rich, the mother would go to him for a help but he would be demanding s.e.x, telling her that nothing goes for nothing despite he had a beautiful wife. On several occasions, the uncle told Celina that he would train her in school, but on the condition of having s.e.x with her at will. He always demanded s.e.x from the mother each time she went to him for a help, but the woman would not because of the love and respect she had for her late husband.
Celina can"t imagine herself sleeping with her uncle because of her upbringing. The mother engaged herself in all manner of hard work to make sure her daughter graduate. Celina was so beautiful that she commanded the attention of everyone. A lot of male students had been disturbing her for a relationship, but she would not because she did not want to do anything that would endanger her future and her mother"s suffering would be in vain. She was a decent girl full of respect. It wasn"t the students alone were disturbing her, the lecturers as well.
But in her third year in school, she was raped by the group of cultists; Not only was she infected, they also got her pregnant and that was how she dropped out of school. It was not only her future alone that was affected but the entire hope of the family. The incident added another unimaginable tears and pain to her mother and Celina, as well. Tears of a woman have no stop until she goes her eternal home.
