Catalyna smiled maniacally as she thought herself in a good position all she had to do was kill Aerwyna. The two knights who were helping Aerwyna were now drained. What mana they had left they used on agility and strength preferring melee combat but they could not find any openings on Catalyna. A sword brushed pa.s.sed Catalyna, but she dodged and counter-attacked with a kick to the abdomen which knocked the knight back. The other knight attempted to hack at Catalyna"s feet only to be dodged with a flip and a [Rock Bullet]. Aerwyna attempted to form another spear to stab at Catalyna but each attempt she did was painfully slow.
Catalyna then made the surrounding air explode with a fire spell she shift cast as she was dodging the oncoming attacks from the three. Resulting in a knock back as the three were separated. An arrow then flew suddenly, seemingly from nowhere and hit the ground far from her. This distracted her for a fleeting moment. She thought that there was no one else who could move in the vicinity. She pondered a bit but did not notice anyone and focused her mind again at the battle with Aerwyna.
"No, I told you to launch the arrow half an inch lower. With the wind resistance that will let the arrows target off by a few yards." Ezra told a confused Evan, "Do it again, but this time follows my instructions to the letter."
"Milord, I think it would be best if I entered the fray directly."
"No, it"s too early for that."
He could only endure being told off by an infant. It was humiliating for him but since he was tasked to protect Ezra, he could only tolerate it
They were far from the battlefield, Ezra told him to position himself on the spot behind burning buildings. He barely even saw the clash of the two women from the distance. He honestly did not know why he was taking orders from an infant and he itched to go and charge toward Aerwyna to protect her.
"Okay let loose!"
"That"s good!" Ezra told him excitedly, "Quickly let the other one fly. Three inches to your right to the North East, steady, steady, a little more. Now!"
Evan obeyed and released the arrow, in the air, an arrow flew toward the battlefield as Catalyna neared a kneeling Aerwyna.
"Relinquish Ezra, Aerwyna, there"s no point. Only death awaits your stubbornness," Catalyna placidly looked at Aerwyna as she looked at her anguished body.
"Over my rotting corpse, wh.o.r.e!" Aerwyna shouted and glared at Catalyna.
"As you wish,"
Catalyna began to materialise an Earthen club on her right hand.
The arrow in the air was. .h.i.t by another one in a sweeping manner resulting in a near vertical descent. As Catalyna was about to smash Lady Blackfyre"s face the arrow that dropped straight down thoroughly hitting her clavicle both shocking her and injuring her. The arrow lodged firmly in between her right shoulder blades. She would have screamed but no voice came out as she had punctured a lung.
She was startled since she let her guard down. She had no time to flinch as three more arrows were let loose. They flew in such a way that it was awkward dodging. Her torso contorted into different positions as the arrows kept coming. Finally, an arrow brushed pa.s.sed her feet grazing her calf as she attempted a somersault.
She backed away fifty paces from the barrage of arrows.
Meanwhile, Evan was shocked. He did not expect that the arrows he launched actually connected. The first one even gave Catalyna a serious injury. He did not even use magic spells to deal effective damage to such a high ranked magic combatant. He was both excited and awestruck, he never expected the instruction of a little baby could actually render the enemy in such a state. He glanced at Ezra with mixed feelings. He was both afraid and overwhelmed at the capability of such a young child. This was beyond his imaginings.
"Okay now try to engage, I"ll try to get a feel of your movements. Remember do exactly as I say. Execute everything precisely the way I want to. If you follow my instructions, Mother will survive."
Ezra was awed at how precise this Knight"s movements were. If he were back on earth the possibility of finding such a person who had such precise movement to the minute details was possibly one in a million. Even with training, no one could beat this person"s clockwork-like reflexes on Earth.
They went near the battlefield. Catalyna grew cautious because she thought that the wall archers had come to the aid of Catalyna so deep inside the city. She did not try to take the arrow out as that would lead her to bleed profusely. She tried to scout her surroundings to detect any sign of magic power but the only ones she detected were the, knocked out knights and Aerwyna who was breathing heavily looking at her with one eye open and the other half closed.
Aerwyna was slightly relieved due to Catalyna"s caution. It gave her some reprieve and let her condense her magic to heal her foot a bit. It was aching and this was the reason why she was beaten by Catalyna. But in battle, of course, the slightest misstep would make you lose your life. She wondered who her apparent saviour was. The next sight she could not believe. It was a knight carrying a baby behind his back tied in a sling.
"Ezra!" Aerwyna exclaimed,"Why are you here! You should return to the castle! It safer there!"
"Don"t fret mother I"m here I"ll save you."
Evan charged forward at Ezra"s command.
Catalyna saw this and was relieved, "Did you decide to come to me to save your mother Ezra?" She smiled.
"No, we are going to drive you away," Ezra replied.
"You are awfully full of your self! I"m gonna teach you a lesson. My orders were to refrain from hurting you but consider this payback for the headache you"ve given me," exclaimed as she frowned at Ezra"s retort.
Both of them dashed and Catalyna launched a [Rock Bullet] at Evan. But he dodged following Ezra"s orders. He jumped and launched his own spell. It missed as it was evaded cleanly by Catalyna however it hit a burning pillar at the back and fell towards her. She skirted the pillar with a leap.
"Now! Launch the attack three inches left and five inches high, south-west! Right there!" Ezra instructed Evan.
He executed the [Rock Bullet] flawlessly and it connected cleanly to Catalyna"s right shoulder which made her howl in pain.
"Take out the bow! Launch !"
Catalyna tried to evade the rapid fire of arrows but her movements were now lethargic she attempted to flex her body to dodge the arrows but three still hit her. She could not use chant less spells because the arrow seeped her willpower.
She retreated forty paces and looked at Ezra with an extremely puzzled look she could not foresee an ending where she could win. Ezra and Evan pursued her. She gazed one last time at Ezra opening her mouth wanting to say something but gritted her teeth instead enduring the pain as she fled the premises.
