Aerwyna called Reitz and they chatted about Evan"s proposition after half an hour they finally concluded.
"While I think it is unlikely that Ezra would leave Bren, this possibility is one we should not leave unexplored," Reitz said
"But while our resources will focus on finding Ezra inside Bren, I will give you the authority to look for Ezra outside of Bren and even outside Fulmen, I will give you this pendant with the House Blackfyre sigil as proof you are on a mission that was tasked by the house. These are the doc.u.ments, proof of ident.i.ty and a written report about your mission which is signed by me.
I will give you this also, it is the Rex Imperia"s Augmenti approval, with this you can ask aid from Lords outside Fulmen but I advise you to use it sparingly especially when using it in the territories we have discussed before, if they know you are from Bren then they would know your connection to me and that would most probably endanger you and Ezra even more." Reitz said as he continued and gave out the doc.u.ments, pendant and the Augmenti approval.
"I understand your Lordship, I will do as you command," said Evan as he received the doc.u.ments and the pendant.
"Also hand this to the stables, they will give you the direction where the Demon Hunter"s caravan is heading, they might deviate from the path but their first stop will be Anticourt, three days from here. Send a messenger pigeon from there so we know if you have found Ezra," Reitz instructed.
"Yes milord."
Evan went to the stables. From the time Ezra was reported missing to the time he prepared to set out, it was around four hours. He prepared provisions and weapons and put them on the side where a bag was specifically made for this purpose. He checked everything first before ridding then he set off. There were many routes to Anticourt and did not know exactly which way the caravan would head, but for now, at least he knew the general direction he was to go to.
Ezra almost threw up plenty of times inside the carriage, on earth he was not p.r.o.ne to motion sickness. He forgot to factor out that he had a new body, he just thought that everything would carry over and everything would be fine. Luckily he used magic to suppress his motion sickness and thus did not vomit.
During the past year, he found out he could control parts of his autonomic nervous system, almost everything in his body was at his command. He even tried to aid his digestive system when trying to dissolve food, he still did not know exactly how he did it. He observed that when doing so he would not become hungry as much, maybe because his digestion became more efficient.
Recently he also noticed that he could feel that magical depletion, while it could affect your stamina, did not necessarily mean the loss of all bodily functions and often times when he lost magic he could still walk, although he would walk awkwardly just like a toddler.
He deduced that, when looking at those people dueling and then having to concede due to magic depletion, they were exhausted because they used magic on their limbs and movements, hence when magic was depleted they would not be able to move because of the strain put on their body as magic acted as some sort of stimulant.
Ezra"s constant suppressing of his motion sickness chipped away at his mana capacity but finally, they set up camp. It was a relief for him as there was no more bouncing around. Using magic to amplify his hearing, tried to get a feel if all was clear so he could get out and have a walk around. The s.p.a.ce inside the carriage was a bit cramped but because of his small frame, it was not that uncomfortable.
Ezra just wanted to have a look outside and get accustomed to the wilderness. He slowly sneaked out stealthily and there was no hitch. He observed the men as they prepared their sleeping places and the food they cooked, they were around a bonfire, it was not freezing but summer was ending and they huddled over the fire as they roasted meat.
Apparently, they caught a few rabbits along the way and decided to eat some. Ezra"s mouth watered at the sight as he restrained himself from drifting toward the wafting smell of the roast. He decided to open his backpack and eat his own provisions. Luckily his hiding spot was filled with dried meat and he picked some and put it into his backpack.
He went away from the caravan and decided to relieve himself. When he came back everyone huddled, they were briefed by Deimos on what they planned to do next. Around him were the five Blackfyre Guard. It looked like the knights were specialists, one sported a war hammer, which was over the top, Ezra used AMP to measure it and was surprised to find out that the hammerhead was around one hundred and fifty kilograms. Ezra deduced that the knight used magic to wield it.
Next to him was a knight who had a mace of comparable weight, another was a knight whose primary weapon was a spear, the other one, a halberd, and the last knight"s weapon was a typical cross-guard sword. The leader of these knights seemed to be the one who sported the hammer.
"The first stop we are going to is the town of Anticourt, after stocking some supplies we will go on a dash and toward the border City of Aprax from there, we go to Valorfall Hold the Fulmen Border near the Arcane Lands, Where my party was ambushed. The caravan we were escorting was supposed to go to Valorfall hold," said Deimos.
"But why aren"t we going directly to Anticourt, the path we took seems a bit off," the knight with the war-hammer replied.
"I have a brother who is near Irriton Grove, we will arrive there tomorrow, right now we must steel ourselves for tomorrow, the Grove is not easy to traverse, we will push through Irriton as well to save time,"
"Isn"t Irrition dangerous? While I don"t believe that any of us knights would die, we have regular soldiers in our caravan," said the leader of the Blackfyre guard
"Yes I have accounted for them, they will go to the safer route toward Anticourt, I must meet my brother, he has news on the situation of my brethren after the attack, and also he is a formidable Demon Hunter as well, he will aid us in the conflict with the Shadow Walkers."
"I see, then I think it"s settled,"
"We shall leave at daybreak tomorrow,"
"Understood."
Ezra overheard the conversation and was overjoyed, he would actually get to see the local flora and fauna, he immediately decided that he would tail the knights, the problem was not if he could go as fast as them on horseback, it was rather could his magic keep up, but he did not worry he knew the rough direction the Bren was in, if push came to shove he could just go back. He estimated that he had enough dried meat on his backpack for twenty days which was more than enough for the trip back. Ezra sneaked back inside the carriage and went to sleep as he planned for the journey ahead
