Ryn woke up with a huge yawn. She stretched her arms and let out another yawn. Then, she opened her eyes and looked around blearily. Where was she? Why was the room felt so familiar?
It took her a few seconds to remember. Oh yes, she was in her home. Her jobs were done and she had until tomorrow to rest. And she planned to spend these two days to sleep. She was going to sleep for the whole two days and only wake up when it was time to eat.
She rubbed her eyes and then checked the time. What was the time now? But her mobile phone was dark and refused to light up. She tried to switch it up a few times but failed. Great. It seemed like the battery was dead. She forgot to recharge before she went to sleep!
She pulled a cable and connected it to her phone to charge it. To make her life easier, she actually bought a long extension until it reached her bed so she could recharge her phone with it so close to her when she was sleeping. Just in case someone called her in the middle of the night, she did not have to walk far (a few feet actually) to the desk to answer her phone.
Sometimes she could not believe her own creativity and cleverness!
She left the phone to recharge and looked around again. It seemed like she needed to use her free time to clean the place! So tiring!
But first, she needed to fuel her body. She went to the kitchen to find something to eat. But it seemed like she forgot to do her grocery before she left last time. There was nothing to eat! Not even chocolate or candy or even cereal! There was not even an egg to fry or boil!
She would die from starvation if this continued on and she would not like that. She hated being starving!
She quickly looked out of the mirror, hoping her dearest neighbour was inside, along with her nephew and hopefully they were having a meal or something so she could shamelessly ask to join in their meal.
Unfortunately, her prayer was unanswered.
The house seemed empty from any occupant!
Her shoulders slumped down. Her stomach was drumming for food and there was nothing she could do to get it filled... except buying it. Sighing heavily, she went back into her bedroom to grab a towel. She needed to clean herself before she could get out. Her bed hair was so scary, it could even scare off the scarecrows!
It took her about ten minutes or so to make herself look presentable enough to face the public. She grabbed her wallet and housekey. She checked the phone and sighed seeing how low the batter was but she needed to bring it along too.
She could not depend on her power bank because she forgot to recharge it too. So now all she could do was to let it in off mode and only switched it on if necessary.
Instead of buying grocery and going home to cook, she decided to eat outside. She chose the restaurant not far from home, just a kilometre of walking. She ordered two plates of fried rice and sweet and sour fish. She also asked for soup and fried mixed vegetables. Even for her drink, she asked for two gla.s.ses of carrot juice.
The girl who took her order did not bate her eyes even though she saw this customer was alone. The restaurant was actually a place where Ryn frequented when she was hungry and too lazy to cook. Everyone working there was used with her eating so much. They even would ask her if she only took a serving for one.
Once she was done ordering what she wanted, she waited. Her fingers tapping the table as she waited impatiently for her food. So hungry. Hurry-hurry. Hurry to send her food so she could eat quickly.
It took them quite a bit to finish her order. Ryn smiled from ear to ear once the food was arranging tidily in front of her. Both her hands were holding spoon and fork. Who had the time to eat with a chopstick when she could simply use the same spoon to get the soup and the rice?
Before long she cleaned all the plates and bowl. Even the gla.s.ses were clean from any liquid. She leaned back and sighed happily. Her hands stroked her stomach.
She waved goodbye and now headed to the grocery shop to do her grocery. Of course, the time of things she had in mind to buy was food, food, and more food. She did not think she had to buy anything else except food. Her house only lacked food.
She took a basket and went straight to the back to get meat. She needed a lot of steaks to satisfy her hunger. Then, she took more meat for meat stew and maybe for hotpot. Then, she took more chicken and other meat. The only vegetable she took was a salad... so she could maybe eat it with the steak, or when having a hotpot.
When she got out of the shop, she had two huge bags full of all kind of meat. She was smiling happily, skipping toward her home. She could not wait to have her dinner.
But as she reached closer and closer to her home, she remembered she had a cleaning up to do. The skipping turned into a slow walk and, well, it took her twice the time to reach home. Even when she was unlocking the door, it was in a slow-motion because she felt like she was not ready to face the real world, also known as her dusty home.
But life must go on. She quickly unpacked everything to its respective place and went to change her clothes from green top and jeans into a black spaghetti strap top and shorts. She even put her hair in a bun and wrapped her head in a bandana.
Now she was ready to face the dusty monster!
She started by dumping the clothes in her backpack into the laundry basket, the coloured into the coloured section while black in another section. Then, she started to use the was.h.i.+ng machine and while waiting for it to finish its job, she started to clean the house.
The first place she tackled was her own bedroom. She even cleaned out the cobweb and the windows! Once she was done with changing the bed cover and comforter after sweeping the floor, she switched to another room; the place where she dumped all the clothes and accessories she received from her job and her spokesperson"s company. She dusted lightly and swept the floor. Now, it was time to focus on the living room.
She slammed her body breathlessly on the cus.h.i.+on when she was finally done. It took her hours to finish cleaning everything. She even moped the floor! Where did this so hardworking woman come from, she wondered tiredly. She never was this hardworking before when cleaning her home!
She closed her eyes, planning to take a short nap before she started to prepare for her dinner. The sun would soon set so she only had like an hour or so before she should have her dinner.
But a plan was just a plan. With her phone was forgotten in the bedroom, safely being recharge, nothing was there to wake her up except herself. The exhaustion from her work, adding with from her "working" today made her body so tired, it demanded more than an hour to rest.
So, when she woke up, she found it was already morning. She missed having her dinner!
"Oh no..." she gasped and quickly rushed to her room to get her phone. But she detoured first to the bathroom. She could not hold it anymore!
When she switched the phone on, so many miscalls and messages appeared. Most were from Mika and Jeremy. Both knew her schedule and knew she was back since yesterday.
She rubbed between her brows. Was she ready to listen to their nagging?
Maybe not.
She dropped it back on her bed and went to her kitchen. It was better for her to fill her starving stomach first. She nodded at the thought and did just that.
After eating three steaks with no vegetable at all, just three medium steaks just how she liked it, she finally pulled herself into her bedroom. She prepared her ears to listen to nagging from Mika. Jeremy would not dare to nag at her. He was still behaving himself to woo her so she was not worried. Mika, on the other hand, would cry and ask a lot of questions.
She took a few deep breaths to calm herself and gather her courage. Then, finally, she punched the b.u.t.tons to call her best friend, now ready to listen to Mika"s cry.
"Ryn~"
