As they were getting closer and closer to the apartment, both their face turned paler. Their heart was pounded so hard. In short, they were getting closer to break down. Even Ryn was freaking out as well.
What should they do if Mika really was pregnant? Should they inform the parents first or Jason? Should they start preparing the nursery? Which house should the nursery be? The house where the sibling was living in or Jason"s studio apartment? Which hospital should Mika go for her checkup? What kind of supplements suitable for Mika? What kind of food suitable for her?
Most importantly, her workload. Mika was having so many projects to handle. If she was pregnant, she should not be under too much pressure, right? So logically her workload should be reduced, right?
The journey back home was so long, it felt eternity before they reached their destination. Both were having different thoughts. None even spoke. It was so quiet in the car. Not even the radio was turned on. So quiet like a cemetery.
Finally, they reached in front of the house. Mika took a deep breath and started to punch the number.
It was rejected.
She tried again.
It was rejected again.
She turned to look at Ryn with her wet face, "I can"t seem to unlock the door."
Ryn took over.
She actually knew the pa.s.sword to this house but rather liked the siblings to open the door for her.
It took her two tries to unlock it. That showed how nervous she was.
Does Mika even ready to become a mother?
Ryn locked the door and brought the huge plastic bag to the living room. She unloaded everything on the coffee table and looked at the almost fifteen pregnancy kit she bought.
Mika was like an obedient lamb, following behind her best friend. She sat on the couch with a blank face.
Ryn knew she had to take the lead. The poor lamb was so worried she could not do anything anymore.
She took a box and read the instructions. Then she took another... And another... Until she was done reading all the different pregnancy kits.
"So..." Ryn looked at Mika. "Do you want to use all?"
"I am... I"m not sure," Mika was so lost. She could not think anymore.
Ryn looked at the boxes scattering on the table. Was it too much?
"Maybe... Just... Four?" she chose four boxes randomly.
"What about the rest?"
"We... We will think about those later."
Mika obediently brought the four boxes into the bathroom.
Ryn followed behind, waiting outside the bathroom. She started pacing outside, too nervous with the result.
It felt like hours before Mika finally came out. She clutched onto the four kits tightly, her lips trembling.
"I... I am too nervous to wait inside."
"Then, we just wait at the couch," Ryn pulled Mika back to the living room. She set the timer and stared at the four kits.
Mika, on the other hand, pulled herself back into a tight ball. She was scared to look at the result. What should she do if she really was pregnant?
None of them even moved from their seat. One was staring at the table nervously while the other was too busy fretting over her future.
The timer rang, shocking them. Mika quickly hugged Ryn, hiding her face against Ryn"s back.
Ryn gulped hard. She did not feel Mika behind her. Her attention was on the pregnancy kits. Finally, it was time to know the result.
Her trembling hands pulled them closer. She tried to open her eyes bigger to see the strips clearly.
Mika was shaking behind her. She did not dare to look at the result.
"Erm... Babe... Can you... Can you do more tests?"
Ryn"s voice was too low for Mika to hear so she lifted up her face. "What? I"m... Pregnant?"
"I am not sure. Two say you are and another two say you"re not. Maybe... We should do more tests," Ryn grabbed another four boxes randomly and gave to Mika.
"Again?"
"Yes. Do them too," Ryn was firmed with Mika. She was getting freak out seeing the result of 2:2.
What did this mean? Was Mika pregnant or not pregnant? Were the kits playing a cruel joke on them?
In the end, they used all fifteen of the pregnancy kits Ryn bought. Still, the result was still not convincing to Ryn. 8 kits announced Mika"s pregnancy while the other 7 was the opposite.
"This is getting more confusing," Ryn scratched her head in frustration.
Mika sniffed sadly. She lost count how many times she had to pee.
"Why don"t we go check at the hospital?" Ryn suggested carefully. She had no more idea to settle this problem.
"Why do we have to go? I"m scared~" Mika refused to go to the hospital. She would only go there for her hospital appointment with her depression. Other than that, she would avoid going there.
She hated the smell of the hospital!
"Mika, you could see how the result from these kits are not convincing enough. Don"t you want to know whether you are bringing another life in your stomach or it was just stress from work?" Ryn coaxed. She knew how Mika hated to go there. Heck, she hated the hospital too.
"Then, we don"t go...?" Mika looked at Ryn hopingly.
"No. We are going. We cannot just worry about this but not taking the chance to know the truth. Let"s go. We cannot waste any more second," Ryn said firmly.
"Oh..." Mika"d shoulders dropped.
She watched as Ryn gathering all the kits to dump into the dustbin and wiping the table with a wet kitchen towel. Then, she accepted the handbag and allowed Ryn to pull her toward the door.
Again the journey was long. Mika was too nervous, instead of speeding, the car could be described as a tiny turtle crawling. Both ignored the honking and lights coming from other drivers.
They finally reached the hospital. Ryn helped registering Mika"s name and even held onto her hand tightly while they waited for Mika"s turn. When Mika"s name was called, Ryn automatically followed behind.
Ryn did not say a word as Mika followed behind the nurse to take her urine test. She looked at the doctor"s face, too worried to even ask any question.
Mika quickly held onto Ryn"s hands when she was done. Together both looked at the doctor nervously.
The doctor pulled the collar of his s.h.i.+rt. He was getting nervous too. Why were these women staring at him as if he was the one at fault? He cleared his throat and looked at the piece of paper handed by the nurse.
"Ms. Mika Long, according to the urine test, you are..."
"Yes?" Ryn stared hard at the doctor. Please say Mika is not pregnant.
"Unfortunately, Ms. Long is not pregnant."
"Are... Are you sure?" Ryn choked out.
"Yes. Yes. Stop staring at me like that, please," the doctor could not take it anymore and begged.
Mika and Ryn hugged each other and cried. Mika was not pregnant. She was still safe from her parents.
"thank you, doctor. Thank you so much," both could not stop thanking the doctor before skipped out of the office.
They were going to celebrate this good news.
"You know, luckily I did not tell Jason or he would freak out," as Mika now was able to smile happily, she began to be her true self again, a chatterbox.
"Hmm... Luckily. Or he would freak out," Ryn agreed. Luckily Mika only told her, not the boys.
Knowing Jeremy and Jason, both would freak out and fail to help calm Mika down. Heck, they might even faint when Mika told them her worry. Luckily the person Mika told was her.
