He stirred the hot chocolate carefully and then brought it back to the sofa. He could not help from glancing at his watch. If... if they leave in ten minutes, they still had time for their romantic dinner.However...
He looked at her sitting on the couch, hugging her knees so close until it touched her chin. Her eyes were staring at the wall blankly.
He knew when he saw her when they first time met back after broken up, her holding everything in even tighter than ever would one day be her timebomb. Once it was too big for her to handle, she would crumble... just like this.
He wondered what ticks her off this time. It would not be him, right? If he was the reason, she would refuse to let him in. She would refuse for his touches and kisses. But she allowed him to do that; touching and kissing. So he was not the reason behind her sadness.
Phew...
But still, he needed to do something to make her feel better.
"Baby," he started. Carefully planning his next words.
She did not reply. The drink he offered was not taken. It laid on the coffee table, untouched.
He again pulled her into his arms. And again he kissed the top of her head gently.
"Are you ready to tell me what made you sad?" he asked. He watched her every reaction carefully and prayed she would be honest with him.
She shook her head. But there was no sound coming out from her mouth.
"Baby, you have me now. You can share everything with me," he coaxed gently.
Still, she refused to speak.
He sighed. Then, he frowned when he heard something. He pulled back and looked down at her slim stomach.
"You haven"t eaten anything?" he asked.
She shook her head.
He sighed. Without warning, he stood up and scooped her up into his arms. She screamed a bit but he ignored her. He carried her into her bedroom and put her gently on the bed. Then, under her puzzled look, he walked to her wardrobe and checked all her outfits.
He could not help from frowning seeing her rather casual and inexpensive clothes. She was a supermodel and even spokesperson of his company. Where were the dresses and jewellery from his company? He knew Mika would make sure she would send the latest designs to her.
"Where are the dresses and jewellery?" he asked. Although he came to her house often, he did not dare to venture into other rooms while wooing her. He did not want to be kicked out by her. Hence, he did not know the room she used to contain all the clothes and accessories she received from all the brands she worked with.
She looked at him blankly. Why would he ask that question?
"Baby, we are going out for dinner. You need to wear a pretty dress," he explained patiently.
"Do... do I have to?" she finally spoke.
He winced when he heard her hoa.r.s.e voice. It was clear how long and bad she had been crying to change her voice like that. What made her so sad? He gripped his hands, trying to control his emotion. Was she being bullied by others?
His eyes blazed with coldness. Who dared to bully his love?
With a sigh, she stood up and walked to the door without speaking. She suddenly stopped at the door and turned to look at him.
"Follow me," she said.
He followed her. They went into another room. His eyes widened seeing it full pack with designer brands. Of course. Why did he not remember about her habit of ignoring the brands but focus on comfortable clothes instead? All the clothes in her wardrobe just now were casual and comfortable clothes she always wore whenever she went out, even when having lunch or dinner with them.
He realized she never changed despite being so popular. She was still the Catherine he fell in love years ago. And it made his heart even beating so fast now. He loved her even more by every second.
Without another warning, he pulled her into his arms and kissed her lips pa.s.sionately. At first, she struggled a bit before her body leaned forward as she replied back to his kiss.
Once their kiss ended, he carried her back into her bedroom and placed her on the bed gently. She blinked her eyes, still drunk from the kiss.
"Wait here," he told her and gifted another light kiss.
Then, he went to her other closet. He glanced at his watch. They still had time although it would be a bit late. He quickly contacted the restaurant to push the time for the dinner to another half an hour. The manager agreed after he promised to pay double for it.
He sighed after ended the phone call. Luckily he still managed to save their romantic dinner although the rest of the plan he had to unwillingly cancel. Ah... they still had a long time to share their life with. He could plan another romantic date with her.
The thought of planning another romantic date somehow cheered him up and he quickly focussed on choosing the perfect dress for her to wear for their romantic dinner. He even chose the accessories and heels for her. For hair, he decided to ask her to let it down and there was no need for make-up. He loved seeing her natural beauty.
He returned with the dress and the accessories he chose and showed them to her proudly. "Wear them," he coaxed. "We"re going out for dinner, okay?"
She sighed. She wanted to refuse but he gave her a puppy-eyed look. She chewed her lower lip before slowly took the dress from his hands. "I need to change. Can you wait outside?"
"I cannot watch?" he asked rather childishly.
"J!"
"Maybe I should choose your underwear too so I can imagine them on you," he said without thinking and wanted to do just that but she stopped him.
"J!"
"What?" he asked innocently when she blocked his way to her wardrobe. Of course with his strength and height, she was unmatched with him but he just loved seeing the nervous and shy look on her face. Finally, he could see her being animated compared to the cold and sad her just now.
He stole a kiss and quickly rushed outside before she could scream again.
She could hear his laughter and scrunched her face. Did he just tease her?
She turned to look at the dress he chose and sighed a bit. It was clear as the blue sky how he was trying to cheer her up despite not knowing what made her having a bad mood today. Maybe in a way she did need him to pull her into life.
She washed her face and changed into the outfit he chose. Then, she opened the velvet box and twitched her lips. It seemed like he did plan something for their dinner. If not, he would not choose both the dress and the jewellery for her. She put on a light make-up and brushed her hair down. Then, she went to the living room, where Jeremy was pacing left and right.
He stopped. His eyes widened seeing her in the dress. His eyes slowly travelled from the bottom to the top, smiling all the way, until he saw her made-up face. He pursed his lips a bit.
"What?"
"You put make-up on," he said in a low voice.
She c.o.c.ked an eyebrow. Was that a complain? She did not even wear much. Just some powder, black eyeliner, a little bit of mascara and red lipsticks. Dinner should be a little bit of extra, right? A little bit of glamorous?
"So?"
"I like you without make-up," he said. One finger touched her dark red lips, "How am I going to kiss these without smudging your lipsticks?"
"No kiss, then," she replied without thinking.
But this was supposed to be our romantic dinner. Romantic dinner should be included with kisses. His heart cried sadly.
She did not feel sorry at her sadness at all. She simply reached for her phone and house key. She stopped at the door and turned to look at him, c.o.c.king an eyebrow, "Are we going for dinner?"
"Well... can"t you..."
"No." She cut his words, unwilling to hear more of his request.
"But..."
"No," she was firmed with her refusal. She refused to look at his sparkly eyes, too lazy to return to her room just to change her make-up. "Are we going or not?"
"We are going," he quickly grabbed his phone and key on the coffee table and followed her out of the house. He was unhappy about her stubbornness but kept telling himself at least she was willing to have dinner with her. At least they could have their romantic dinner, right?
He opened the door for her, watching her every movement carefully. It seemed like her mood was still bad but maybe, her growling stomach won against her stubbornness. He should thank her stomach by buying delicious food.
"Are you ready?" he asked after starting the engine.
"Hmm..."
"Let"s go..." he said.
It was five minutes after they entered the main road when he glanced at her, "Do you think..."
"No," she refused firmly.
"Oh..."
