However, since he couldn’t look behind him to check like a sighted person, he continued to feel frightened. It wasn’t a substantial issue, but it made him worry since the location of his things would be unusually off. It made him uneasy. He didn’t particularly dislike to clean to begin with, but once he lost his sight he did his best to avoid clutter, and was careful to keep things tidy. If things weren’t in their proper place, Tatsumi could lose them right away, or trip over them and injure himself. It was for those reasons that he decided to put things in their precise places. However, there were things that weren’t in their place lately. They weren’t in completely different locations or anything. It was more like one thing on the shelf being out of place, or something that had been placed on the corner of the table being moved.
He started to get ready for work as he tried to rea.s.sure himself, and headed toward the front door.
“&h.e.l.lip;&h.e.l.lip;!”
Halfway there he tripped over something. Tatsumi instantly held out his hands, but he fell down in the hallway. When he searched around his feet with his hands, his hair dryer had fallen in front of the door connecting the room to the entranceway. Somehow he had become entangled in its cord.
